LifeWorks Host Talks for Lyme Disease Awareness Month Jennifer Baer ARNP, of LifeWorks Wellness Center will be hosting three free talks around Tampa Bay in recognition of May being Lyme Disease Awareness Month. The talks will be held at: -Abby’s Health & Nutrition, Tampa, at 7:pm on Tuesday, May 17, -Rollin’ Oats, St Pete, at 7:15pm on Thursday, May 19, -Nature’s Food Patch, Clearwater, at 6:30pm on Thursday, May 26.

Lyme disease is a misunderstood condition known as the “great imitator” because its symptoms mimic those of other chronic conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, Alzheimer’s, fibromyalgia and more.

Jennifer explains, “It is essential to help to raise the public profile of Lyme disease because it is rapidly reaching epidemic proportions. The Evolution of Spirit

ur souls are here for a purpose.

There is something we are meant to be doing in this lifetime to elevate our spiritual growth. We’ve all had many lifetimes and have experienced many forms of being from the lowest worm to where we are now. Before we came to this Earth, we made contracts and agreements with ourselves, our soul mates and our Source. We selected our parents, our circumstances, our situations in order to best fulfill our life purpose and burn away our karma from another life. Those who we haven’t quite forgiven, interacted with, or healed from another lifetime may resurface in this lifetime until we fulfill contracts with these soul mates.

We all operate at different frequencies or vibrations. Some of us are like a 110 volt battery, where others may be more like 220 or 440 volts. Indigos are said to operate at these higher frequencies. You know who you are-your burning need to get things done--your warrior like nature since you were young.

Any ADD-like tendencies can be caused by your Indigo spirit pushing you to get on your karmic path. You may be so full of energy; you don’t know how to handle it. Some of us know what we’re supposed to be doing from the moment we enter this Earthly body.

Others may feel a bit muddled and more like a cog on a wheel. We are all caterpillars waiting to emerge as butterflies.

The thing is some people are happy being caterpillars. We can only accelerate our own growth and not others. You may resonate more with butterflies. If so, then why are you hanging out with the caterpillars? If your desire is to transform then only you are holding yourself back and no one else. Be free to soar and show off your multitude of colors.

You are all at levels to help the planet raise its vibration during this time. You are at the frequencies you need to be at in order to help each other see new perspectives, heal old wounds and create balance in your lives. However, you must first do that within yourselves. You have come here during this time to help balance out all of the negative caterpillars and assist each other in moving into higher states of enlightenment. We each have a role to play. All is Divinely timed.

for which you have to wait. Divine Timing means that your energy is in alignment with your desire, and it then comes to you. You have to tune into the right channel to make it happen. Take responsibility for your world and do the positive work daily that brings your desires, wishes and dreams to you because it’s exactly what you ordered.

For me, my spiritual growth accelerated in 1999 when I received the Reiki attunements (initiation). The Reiki energy jump started me. My chakras and energy pathways opened up, and I was able to purge current and past lifetimes of junk I had collected.

Before the attunements, I had daily migraines, seizures and head sensitivity, I now could “see” with open eyes and my health greatly improved. Since then I’ve been initiated into many energy modalities, each guiding me on my journey and purging when necessary. This purging in our lives can be necessary for growth.

Around this time I also began a Kundalini Yoga practice. I learned to take care of my body and listen to its signals. Kundalini Yoga is so much more than physical exercise. It challenges your mind, empowers your spirit and gives you strength and balance to get through life’s challenges. You see we all have daily stressors. It’s up to you to decide how you are going to take that stress into your life. The stronger the nervous and glandular systems, the easier the stress is to take.

Kundalini Yoga has a main goal; find your inner bliss! Through body movements and mantra, we can bring up the emotions that need clearing easily and effortlessly. We then fill it up with light, love of self, love of the divine whatever resonates with you. Wahe Guru translates to I am light, remind myself!

Often times when our world around us is tumbling, we get angry and create more havoc. See each moment as a learning opportunity. I often stop and ask myself, what am I resonating that is causing this chaos around me? I usually find I need more grounding or direction. But guess what? There’s a catch. Often times, your higher-self is trying to get you to evolve. Your higher-self is you in perfection, imagine it resonates what will occur in your life 2 weeks into the future. So your higher-self may start resonating deep changes that are occurring within you now

that you just can’t see yet. They have yet to manifest into the physical. But here it comes, the changes, the evolution of your spirit. So some of these changes that are challenging at the time, have silver linings. Allow yourself to embrace each moment of change and keep doing your inner work, forging your path.

Trust that all will align perfectly as your higher-self, your spirit intended.

My Meditation, Energy Healing and Yoga practices have taught me to be more accepting of others and situations. It has taught me that sending energy to others uplifts my being as that LOVE vibration pours through. Working with energy has also given me the ability to see our ONENESS….we are all connected.

We often think of a person being authentic or not.

Maybe we should move away from that idea and think of it as a practice, authenticity is something that we either practice or we don’t. It’s a choice, it’s something that we can cultivate, and it’s not inherit as the author Brene Brown explains iThe heart of authenticity is the courage to be vulnerable, I know that you are thinking that it doesn’t sound like a lot of fun and it doesn’t even feel good most of the time. But don’t we most connect and help others, when we are vulnerable? We are more alike that we are different. When we truly share our joys and hurts we connect heart to heart and have the opportunity to make a difference. We listen to one another, have compassion, cry or laugh and build relationships. We start to understand that we are never alone and deep within us, we do have the answers are always guided and supported.

Everyone is unique in their own way, we are all needed and we all make a difference in this big beautiful world.

We live in a culture where people think that vulnerability is considered a weakness and we wonder why society believes that some men might not be as sensitive or emotional. In past generations males learned this very young. They were often told to toughen up or they would be labeled as being weak,

At the core of this vulnerability there’s emotions of shame, fear and insecurities but also at the heart of it, it can bring joy, love, creativity, belonging inspiration, beautiful relationships and much fulfillment. So it’s important to be open, when we practice Authenticity we are opening up to an incredible way to live.

I believe that Authenticity is being true to yourself when you have the courage and this is not always easy. Our paradigms (beliefs) remind us of how we were ridiculed before or didn’t have the confidence to stand up for what we believed in, etc. The stories in our head that keep reminding us of the past at times prevent us from living authentically.

The good news is that our past does not equal our future and therefore we can keep striving to be the person that we were meant to be, as authentic as possible.

When you are following someone else’s wish for you, you are not being true to yourself and often feel disharmony. People pleasers know this too well, even though it doesn’t always feel good to them, they continue to do it because if they do, maybe, and I say maybe they will get validation from the other person or feel needed.

Everyone has an important role to play in this life it’s unique to you. We might feel that role as children but as we grow into adulthood we are taught to cover up our emotions, stop playing, take on responsibility and on and on, so some of us forget who we really are. When we stop playing we stifle creativity and connection to our soul.

The question that we should practice is: What really brings me joy, who am at my core?

So are you Authentic and how often do you practice it? It’s not what you do, it’s who you are. But the creativity and purpose are part of your truth and it will give you a more meaningful life. Don’t tweak your values or integrity to fit somewhere, your core will always let you feel it. Your value system describes the type of person that you are, always follow that.

Authenticity has become a moral and spiritual desire as we search to know thyself better. When we become more authentic, we are more likely to enjoy healthier and more meaningful relationships and be a happier person.

here is a reason why people from all walks of life, ranging in age from teenagers to those who could easily be their grandparents gather at a bright and comfy bungalow in Tampa’s Soho district to write letters together.

“People do not appreciate the power of the hand-written note,” says Tona Bell, proprietress of The Paper Seahorse, a haven for writers, crafters and paper lovers she calls a “paperie and makerie,” and the science supports her.

In a study published in the journal, Advances in Psychiatric Treatment,

researchers found that expressive writing had long-term health benefits including improved immune system, improved mood, improved lung function, improved liver function, and a feeling of greater well-being.

most of us end up feeling exhausted and unsatisfied. While many believe multitasking is necessary to succeed in today’s world, others disagree. “With regard to Multitasking…cognitive, behavioral, and neurological sciences are moving toward a consensus that such a state does not actually exist in the human brain,” observed emerging technology designer Annette Liska in a Pew Research Center report on Hyper Connectivity. “We may make many quick ‘thoughts’ in succession, but human performance in any activity that is done without focus (often termed ‘multitasking’) is of significantly lower quality, including an absence of quality and consciousness.”

“Our purpose at the Paper Seahorse, is to create an environment for people to reconnect with each other and to reconnect with themselves through keeping in touch,” says Bell. “When people come in to our shop or participate in one of our classes or workshops they all comment on how relaxing it is. It is truly a mindfulness practice. People walk out centered, rejuvenated and happy.”

Again, studies support the benefits of hand writing notes and letters. In the article Love Promotes Health, published in the journal Neuroendocrinology, researchers found that writing love notes may, “activate areas in the brain responsible for emotion, attention, motivation and memory…. and is capable of stimulating health, wellbeing and productivity.”

While letter writing is “Old School,” there is nothing old fashioned about the Paper Seahorse. In fact, the whole shop and studio seem to be carefully curated to exude a fresh and inviting take on hipster chic. Shoppers and class participants can explore the array of hand made papers, letterpress cards, pencils, pens, vintage typewriters and Japanese journals while listening to music from Indie artists like Borns playing on a restored vintage receiver from the 70’s. There is not a screen in sight.

On a recent visit, a small group of young women sat around a sun-lit table, learning modern calligraphy, while a young man in his twenties laughs as he chooses just the right letterpress greeting card to say I love you to a special friend. “Our cards can be sweet or snarky like what is really on your mind,“ says Bell. “Everything we carry is either hand-made in or is an artisanal product made in small batches. When something is made by hand, when it is made with love and joy, that feeling is transmitted to

the user. We hope that the products that we carry and the environment that we create help people find peace and joy through mindfully creating and connecting with others.”

10 Reasons to Consider Breast Thermography 1. Thermographic imaging looks at heat (or infrared) patterns on the skin that may be indicative of internal dysfunction.

Thermography does not involve exposure to ionizing radiation.

It is safe for women of all ages.

2. With thermography there is no direct patient contact with the equipment, and there is no painful breast compression. Thermography is painless and non-invasive.

3. The more white tissue on a mammogram, the denser the breast is said to be. The denser a womanâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s breasts the less effective a mammogram is going to be at detecting abnormalities, but women with dense breasts have a 4-6 fold increased risk of developing breast cancer. So in precisely the group of women we want to screen the most carefully, mammography is doing the poorest job. Thermographic results are independent of breast density.

4. The compression involved in a mammogram may increase the risk of implant rupture. The FDA warns that all implants will eventually break. Most women who have implants for more than ten years will have at least one broken implant.

About half of women who get implants get them in their 20s or early 30s. By the time they start getting regular mammograms in their 40s, the implants are either already broken or they are vulnerable. Thermography is safe with implants because there is no breast compression.

5. Implants obscure breast tissue on a mammogram. Studies have confirmed that the presence of implants decreases the sensitivity of mammography and results in delayed diagnosis of breast cancer. minimize this. Women with implants who undergo mammography must have a total of eight standard views rather than four, exposing them to twice the radiation of women without implants.

Thermography looks at heat patterns on the surface of the skin.

While breast augmentation changes the size and contour of the breasts, the thermal patterns on the surface of the skin remain largely unchanged. Therefore, implants do not compromise thermographic results.

6. Breast thermography has undergone extensive research including hundreds of studies with over 300,000 women included as study participants. In 1982 the FDA approved thermography as an adjunctive diagnostic screening procedure for the detection of breast cancer.

7. Thermography is quick and easy. A typical exam takes between 20-30 minutes. Two exams approximately three months apart are required to establish a baseline before a woman can move on to annual screening. Interpreters not only compare one breast to the other but also look for changes within each breast over time.

8. Abnormalities of physiology almost always precede abnormalities of anatomy. Mammography is an anatomic study; it looks for abnormalities of structure. Thermography monitors physiology; it tells us how breast tissue is functioning. As a physiological test, thermography has the potential of finding evidence of a developing malignancy much earlier than a mammogram.

9. Thermography has an average sensitivity of close to 80%.

The sensitivity of mammography varies greatly with breast density, from 90% in women with no dense breast tissue to less than 50% in women with dense breasts (and 50% of all women have dense breasts).

Thermography also does something that no other test does: thermography is an important risk assessment tool. An abnormal thermogram is 3-10 times more significant as a risk factor for future development of breast cancer than a first order family history (mother, sister, daughter).

10. Mammography, breast ultrasound and thermography all seem to find different cancers, so a multimodal approach to breast imaging increases the chances that a cancer, if present, will be found. Although not approved as a standalone procedure, if a woman is not doing anything else she should at least be having annual thermograms. Some women combine yearly ultrasound and thermography, some do a mammogram one year and a thermogram the next.

If a woman is identified by thermography to be at risk for developing breast cancer, she can be monitored more frequently with conventional modalities in the hopes that when a cancer does finally become visible on mammography or ultrasound it will be the smallest possible size.

Thermographic abnormalities are sometimes reversible. If a woman learns through thermography that she is at increased risk, then thermography affords a proactive approach to breast health by empowering her to review her modifiable risks (i.e. hormone replacement therapy, exercise levels, alcohol intake, stress, obesity) and take appropriate action.

There are several breast imaging tools out there. None are perfect. A woman cannot make an informed decision about how to best use these tools without fully assessing her risk, and she has not fully assessed her risk without a thermogram.

As you stand, sit, or lie in this space, you might like to pray, “Cleanse me, heal me, teach me,” and ask, “What can I do for you?” You might further ask, “What do I need?” The answer may come to you as a word or an image, a sensation, or a sense of knowing what your body and energy field crave and what you need to do. Before ending this experience, you might also ask, “What else do I need to know?” You can even have a conversation with the information that comes to you. Ask it to clarify its messages for you.

Before you leave this space, create an intention to follow through with action based on what you learned from connecting to nature. Release what is no longer serving you as you open your heart, mind and energy field to what you need. Feel your desire and commitment to make changes rise within you. Soak in the earth’s replenishing energy.

T

he subtle body which underlies our dense physical body is called the “etheric body.” It is the ethereal counterpart of the dense physical body.

It is considered to be the REAL physical body. If there is weakness in the relation between this inner structure and the dense physical body, a real difficulty is bound to supervene.

The etheric body is composed entirely of lines of force and of points where these

lines of force cross each other, and thus form (in crossing) centers of energy. Where many such lines of force cross each other, you have a larger center of energy, and where great streams of energy meet and cross, as they do in the head and up the spine, you have seven MAJOR CENTERS. These centers, which are vortices of energy, are called “chakras.” There are seven such, plus 21 lesser centers and 49 smaller centers. They have an appearance of the petals of a lotus or the spokes of a wheel.

The etheric body with its channels and communicating lines of energy, is fundamentally the most important response apparatus which an individual possesses, producing not only the right functioning of the five senses and consequently providing five major points of contact with the tangible world, but it also enables an individual to register sensitively the subtler worlds, and, when energized and controlled by the soul, the spiritual realms stand wide open also.2 This is the portal to the unknowable, inconceivable, divine, infinite, Source, from which we came.

The etheric body is a potent receiver of impressions, which are conveyed to the human consciousness through the medium of the awakened centers. There is, for instance, no true clairvoyance until either the solar plexus or the center between the eyebrows (the Ajna center) is awakened. These transmitted impressions and information become the incentive whereby conscious activity is initiated. There are many words used to describe these forces and their actuating effects: such as impulses, incentives, influences, potencies, desire, aspirations, and many such terms which are only synonyms

for force or energy. All of these words refer to forms of activity of the etheric body, but only as the physical body registers them and acts under their impression.

The vastness of the subject is, however, so real that only little by little can humanity grasp the situation and come to the realization that man is essentially (through his etheric body) an integral part of a great and vibrant WHOLE. Only in time will he learn that, through the processes of evolution, can he hope to register all of the different areas of divine expression. Only when the etheric body is swept into activity under the influence and through the “impressed forces” of the soul, the mind and temporarily of the astral or emotional body, can the individual become aware of all worlds, all phenomena, and all states of consciousness, and so achieve that omniscience which is the birthright of all the sons of God. The centers govern the endocrine system, which, in its turn, controls the seven major areas of the physical body and is responsible for the correct functioning of the entire organism, producing both physiological and psychological effects. The glands affect character. They constitute a great relating system in the body. They bring all parts of the physical vehicle into relation with each other. They relate the individual to the etheric body--both individual and planetary--and likewise to the blood stream.

Goat Cheese Stuffed Chicken Ingredients

1 cup boiling water 1/3 cup sun-dried tomatoes, packed without oil 2 teaspoons olive oil, divided 1/2 cup chopped shallots, divided 1 1/2 teaspoons sugar 3 garlic cloves, minced 2 1/2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar, divided 1/2 cup (2 ounces) crumbled goat cheese 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil 3/4 teaspoon salt, divided 4 (6-ounce) skinless, boneless

Preparation: Combine boiling water and tomatoes in a bowl; cover and let stand 30 minutes or until soft. Drain and finely chop.

Heat 1 teaspoon oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add 1/3 cup shallots, sugar, and garlic; cook 4 minutes or until lightly browned, stirring frequently. Spoon into a bowl; stir in 1 1/2 teaspoons vinegar.

Combine chopped tomatoes, shallot mixture, cheese, basil, and 1/4 teaspoon salt, stirring well.

Cut a horizontal slit through thickest portion of each chicken breast half to form a pocket. Stuff about 2 tablespoons cheese mixture into each pocket. Sprinkle chicken evenly with 1/2 teaspoon salt and black pepper.

Heat 1 teaspoon oil in pan over medium-high heat. Add chicken; cook 6 minutes on each side or until done. Re-

move chicken from pan; cover and keep warm. Add broth, remaining shallots, 2 tablespoons vinegar, and thyme; bring to a boil. Combine cornstarch and water, stirring with a whisk. Add cornstarch mixture to pan; bring to a boil. Cook 1 minute or until sauce is slightly thick, stirring constantly. Serve sauce over chicken.

achieved, and the free expression, or the reverse, of the incoming energies. The four agents of distribution of energy are: 1). The etheric vehicle itself, with its myriads of lines of force and of energy, the incoming and outgoing energies, its responsiveness to energy impacts coming from the environment as well as the inner spiritual man. In it are to be found the seven major centers, which are the recipients of the seven types of energy. They distribute these seven energies through the entire little human system.

2). The nervous system and its various interlocking directorates. The “NADIS” (infinitely intricate) which are threads of LIFE FORCE, or the prototype of the nerves, constitute the counterpart or the duplicate aspect of the entire nervous system .

3). The endocrine system. The seven centers of force are to be found in the same region where the seven major glands are located, and each center of force provides, according to the esoteric teaching, the power and the life of the corresponding gland which is, in fact, its externalization.

4). The blood stream. This is the carrier of the life principle and of the combined energies and forces of the three above systems.

This etheric vehicle, which is a VORTEX of energies focused through numerous centers, control through the seven major centers, definite areas of the body via the nadis, the nerves, the endocrine system and the blood stream.

The many differing aspects of ill health can be directly traced to the condition of the centers, as they determine the activity or non-activity of the nadis. These, in their turn, affect the nervous system, making the endocrine system what it is in the individual, and the blood stream is responsible for this condition reaching every part of the body.

When the centers are awakened throughout the body, (as it is in a Master), there will then be present a highly electric

nervous system, responsive with immediacy to the energy carried by the nadis.

The result of this will be a well-balanced endocrine system. The vitality and life pouring throughout the entire body will be resistant to disease either innate, hereditary or of group origin.

ELDERBERRY SYRUP For colds and immune health

Supplies needed

This syrup is not recommended for children under 18 months.

Herbs, distilled water, honey, vegetable glycerin

For children age 12 or older give 1 teaspoon 3 to 6 times per day, depending on the case.

Kitchenware Stockpot and lid, stirring spoon, strainer, cheesecloth, sterile bottles with caps

INGREDIENTS •2 ounces elderberries

• ½ ounce chamomile flowers

• ½ ounce rosehip seeds

• ½ ounce yarrow flowers

• ½ ounce boneset herb

• ¼ ounce rose petals

In general, use a ratio of 1 part herbs and water to 2 parts honey or sugar. You also need to keep in mind the herbs-to-water ratio: 1 part herbs to 5 parts water.

STEPS 1. Add the herbs to the water in a stockpot and simmer the mixture on low for 1 hour, with lid ajar, stirring occasionally.

2. Pour the mixture through a strainer, and then measure the total volume.

3. Return it to the pot and add twice as much honey, based on the amount you just measured.

4. Stir until the honey dissolves.

5. Add enough glycerin to equate a 30 percent volume of the total syrup.

6. Strain the syrup through a fine cotton cheesecloth and pour into sterile bottles with tight-fitting caps.

7. Store well-sealed bottles in a cool, dark cupboard to ensure a long shelf life.
