Now, those members will get to see their club transformed and updated like never before. A $600,000 reinvention to Fazio’s Grille and the Veranda will take place in the summer 2013. Hunter’s Green Country Club will have the most modern, amazing and impeccable dining area imaginable. There truly will be nothing like it in New Tampa! The bar in Fazio’s Grill will be completely renovated and modernized to reflect new lighting, texture and ambiance! Sitting at the bar and having a drink will take on a whole new meaning – it will be incredible! Fazio’s will be opened up with Bistro style seating, Cabana Seating and a Community Table! Wall mounted tv’s will surround you along with lighting fixtures, new plank wood flooring, modular art on the walls that will enhance the mosaic
art tiles that will encompass the new bar! As Members walk out onto the Veranda, they’ll be greeted with new furniture as well as comfortable, modern style soft seating around two fire pits. New lighting, speakers, tv’s and a re-finished glossy shine on the flooring of the Veranda will give to the overall delightful feel to dine, drink and converse with friends! Morning warm ups and stretching begin the day, and then it’s on to the courts with the Hunter’s Green certified USPTA Tennis Professionals. Instruction and drills on tennis fundamentals are stressed each morning for all levels. Players move from court to court learning the planned “Stroke of the Day”. Complimentary Gatorade breaks are provided to help ease the Florida sun.

Players exercise their skills with on-court activities. We combine all levels of players for fun and spirited matches. Weekly, Teams will vie for the coveted team Davis Cup Awards: “Most Improved”, “Sportsmanship” and “Dr. Dirt”.
What to Bring
Campers need to bring their own swimsuit and towel. Lightweight summer attire with sneakers is recommended. Junior tennis racquets are required. Racquets are for sale at the Hunter’s Green Tennis Pro Shop. Campers may purchase lunch from our café kids menu or bring a lunch.

Owners Nong and Eon recently acquired full ownership and wanted to change the name from Ploy Thai to Thai Lanna in order to establish their own personal culinary innovations and brand the Asian fusion cuisine as their own. New menu items include a full service sushi bar with the freshest sashimi and raw or fully cooked specialty rolls. One of the more popular rolls is the Jade Dragon, which includes shrimp tempura and asparagus topped with eel, avocado, eel sauce and tempura flakes. There are also a variety of Bento box meals served at lunchtime. Bento boxes, a traditional Japanese single portion meal, include rice, fish or meat and vegetables or ginger salad. Among the special Thai dishes is the Garlic Duck, which consists of well seasoned, lightly fried duck

Lightning Community Hero is Hunter’s Green Resident Allen Guy Award for service includes $50,000 prize Hunter’s Green resident Allen Guy was awarded a Lightning Community Hero award at a NHL Lightning home game at the Tampa Bay Times Forum in early April. The prize includes a $50,000 grant to help the organizations in Tampa Bay that Guy supports with his time and energy. Guy was nominated by New Tampa Young Life area director Alissa Holcomb. "Allen's contribution to our organization is immeasurable,"
among the organizations with which he volunteers, including the New Tampa area of Young Life and two other New Tampa charities: Special Connections (a ministry that serves special needs children and adults based at St. James United Methodist Church) and the OASIS network (an acronym for Outreach Assisting Students in Schools, which provides necessities for underprivileged students in Hillsborough County). Amputee Veterans of America Support Team and Color Guard by Ann MacKinnon Established in January 2007, Amputee Veterans of America Support Team (AVAST) has grown to be one of the most recognized amputee support teams in the Tampa Bay Area. The Team consists of veterans and non- veterans who have experienced an amputation that is life changing. The organization also includes family members, friends and V.A. liaison involved in the rehabilitation of amputees. AVAST members work diligently at keeping the organization , activities and its membership growing. Members train for and have achieved the following Certifications: • Amputee Coalition of America Member and Peer Certification • Adaptive Golf Academy Peer Certification
• Veterans Administration Peer Certification This allows members to understand and assist other amputees in becoming independent and empowered individuals. The success of the organization is a statement of the dedication of the officers, advisory council and members. The AVAST amputee color guard was started in 2012. "Our purpose was to raise awareness, hope and inspiration for wounded veterans and amputees. We wanted to show the people of the community and the nation that even though HG NEWS
you're an amputee, you can still come back and be a productive part of society," says Rudy Salas, president of AVAST, and Meadow Pointe resident. "A lot of wounded veterans returning home don't know that. The color guard is only part of what our organization does." The first Wednesday of every month, AVAST members gather at Terrace Hill Golf Club along with patients from the James Haley Veterans Memorial Hospital. They work to develop adaptive golfing skills and help coach the veterans in the game's rules and etiquette. Each day out on the golf course is a gift to all who participate. "There are so many people responsible for our growth throughout the year; I cannot thank all of them," adds Rudy. "To all the organizations who invited us to golf tournaments, I say thank you and keep those invitations coming!" There are a variety of ways that you can participate, help or donate. New Tampa Juniorettes Planting a Pinwheel Garden for a Cause Over 20 members of GFWC New Tampa Juniorettes, GFWC FL New Tampa Juniors and GFWC Woman’s Club of New Tampa from surrounding New Tampa communities gathered on April 6th at the Fire Station #20 on Bruce B. Downs Blvd. in New Tampa to plant a “pinwheel garden". Close to 1,000 silver and blue
pinwheels were planted in the lawn to show support for Child Abuse Prevention Month in April. Women, Junior and Juniorette members joined forces to show their support in bringing awareness of child abuse and neglect to the community. The pinwheels were available for viewing by the community during the
remainder of the month. The aim of the GFWC Signature Project: Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention, was to increase member understanding about, and involvement in, programs to decrease domestic violence in local communities and across the nation. Darby Frankfurth, GFWC Florida Director of Junior Clubs, has chosen teen violence as the focus for 2012-13 GFWC Florida Juniorettes. As a member of GFWC New Tampa Juniorettes, the clubs planted the pinwheels in honor of her theme. Partnering with, Prevent Child Abuse Florida, they planted pinwheels as a way in building awareness, providing education, and inspiring hope to everyone involved in the effort to prevent the abuse and neglect of our state’s children. Woman's Club of New Tampa March was a fun Month for the GFWC Woman's Club of New Tampa, we put time into the community with fun projects. To start we collected art supplies for the New Tampa Family YMCA Adaptive Art Program, a basket of supplies was given to Kristen Osterman who is the teacher for the art program. These items will be put to good use in class, because on Saturday, April 27th, at Wiregrass Mall the YMCA and the GFWC New Tampa Woman's Club will be hosting a Art Show displaying the adaptive art participants' work. Please be sure and stop by and take a look at these fine pieces. With spring in the air, members put together Easter baskets made from recycled strawberry pint containers. This project was taken to the Head Start at MOSI where members helped the young students

put a handle on the basket and fill it with grass and fun goodies. The students loved the project and we enjoyed their faces when we showed them what they were going to do. We are also continuing with tutoring at Heritage Elementary School till the end of the year, members are enjoying helping the young kids improve their reading and math skills. This will be a ongoing project through the year. We are forming a relationship with a Rotaract Club in Brazil so that we can partner to undertake an international service project with them. Some of the funds we raise will go to international projects while some of it will be reinvested into the Tampa area through backpack/school supply donations and the like.

Volunteering We had a lot of fun at the Mud Run and Gasparilla 5K. Camp Florida, March 3rd We went to Rotary's Camp Florida along with various Rotary Clubs in our area to assist in clearing a recently acquired adjacent property to the camp. The new property will become an on-site infirmary for the children of the camp. If you are not familiar with Camp Florida, it is a camp sponsored by Rotary Clubs all over Florida for the benefit of special needs children. They get to have fun in a camp setting-canoeing, archery, crafts, etc. while being properly monitored and cared for.
State College Rotaract Club and other volunteers to package 50,000 meals to be dispersed to those food pantries, schools, etc. in our local area. Paint Your Heart Out, April 20th Our club and the Rotary Club of Tampa Bay painted an area elderly person's home in need of a touch up. Tuxes and Tails, April 20th We helped out the Humane
Society of Tampa Bay with their annual Tuxes and Tails event to raise money to save the lives of homeless animals. It is a formal dinner event to raise awareness for the Humane Society and celebrate their efforts. Ronald McDonald House, May 2013 We will be doing chores in a local Ronald McDonald House as well as cooking dinner one night for the families being hosted at one of the homes in

Relay for Life New Tampa Mary Kay Sisterhood Fundraising All Stars This May 17, come to Freedom High School for Relay for Life New Tampa, and look for 15 women wearing pink cowboy hats. They are the Mary Kay Sisterhood. Over the past three years, this rip-roaring team has raised thousands of dollars to cure cancer. Their wine tasting in March raised $880 of the $3,147 already banked with the American Cancer Society. Quail Hollow Golf Club, Time for Wine, Jersey Mike’s and Hampton Inn stepped up to help. Bay City Bank in Lutz collected $137 in change at teller windows. If you missed that event, come to the Mary Kay Sisterhood tent during the Relay. Buy chances for a Miche bag, Mary Kay skin care basket or an MK Men’s basket. After putting in your miles, get a foot and leg rub with Mary Kay energy cream. Florida Wind Band May Concert Celebrates Tampa’s Hispanic Heritage The Florida Wind Band will present a concert on May 6, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. in the new USF School of Music Concert Hall. “Seis de Mayo: Fiesta del Vientos” will feature an evening of Spanish and Latino music ranging from classical to contemporary. FWB Conductor and Artistic Director Dr. John Carmichael says: “Your Cinco de Mayo celebration will be extended and concluded with a climactic musical experience when you hear a tango or a paso doble played by the Florida Wind Band on Seis de Mayo!" BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA
Tiger Cub Scouts, who are in first grade, are recognized for their achievements at Pack 801’s Blue and Gold Banquet, an annual celebration of the founding of Boy Scouts.
Cub Scouts from Pack 801, which meets at Hunter’s Green Elementary School, are preparing to head out to Camp Brorein, a local Boy Scout camp, for a weekend outdoors. The boys will participate in canoeing, archery, shooting BB guns, bouldering, rappelling, and enjoy a campfire with s’mores. Cub Scout camp is for boys in first through fifth grade, and always includes siblings – and the whole family – in on the fun! They participated in Keep Hillsborough County Beautiful on Saturday, April 27th, by removing trash from a local park. Pack 801 recently recognized the 103rd anniversary of the founding of Boy Scouts, an annual celebration called the Blue and Gold Banquet. Boys were recognized for the achievements they have earned so far this year. We welcome new boys into our Pack at any time. Students do not have to attend Hunter’s Green Elementary to join our Pack. Outdoor Water Use Restrictions for All Properties in Unincorporated Hillsborough County Effective March 13, 2013
Irrigation of Established Lawns and Landscaping: As of March 13, 2013 outdoor water use for irrigation of established lawns and landscaping is restricted to a single day per week according to a property’s address. Irrigation must be accomplished prior to 8 a.m. or after 6 p.m. Any one zone of a property may only be watered once during the allowable day, NOT both in the morning and evening. The rules apply to all sources of water, including private wells and surface water. The prescribed days are as follows: Addresses ending in the number 0 or 1: Mondays only Addresses ending in the number 2 or 3: Tuesdays only Addresses ending in the number 4 or 5: Wednesdays only Addresses ending in the number 6 or 7: Thursdays only Addresses ending in the number 8 or 9, Fridays only Locations with no address (common areas, entry areas) Fridays only Locations with mixed addresses (office complexes, shopping centers) Fridays only Irrigation of New Lawns and Landscaping is restricted as follows: For new plant material including 30
turfgrass: On days 1-30, beginning on the day of installation, new plant material including turfgrass may be watered any day of the week, before 8 a.m. or after 6 p.m. On days 31-60, new plant material including turfgrass may be watered as follows: Even-numbered addresses may only water on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Odd-numbered addresses may only water on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Common areas, mixed even/odd addresses, and locations with no address may water on Sunday, Tuesday and Friday. Following this period all new plant material is considered established and must follow the one day per week restriction outlined above. NOTE: All new plant material (new or replacement turfgrass or new plants/shrubs) must cover at least 50% of an irrigation zone in order to water with an inground sprinkler system during the establishment period. If not, the new plant material must be hand watered following the same time of day and day of week restrictions for new plant establishment. (Example: If you purchased one flat of grass plugs to place throughout your front yard to fill in bare spots, this would not cover 50% of an irrigation zone. Hand watering would be required.) Also, only those zones containing 50% new plant material may be watered, not the entire yard. (Example:
If you had your entire front yard re-sodded, but not your backyard, only those zones covering the front yard could be run during the establishment period. The backyard zones would have to remain on the regular watering schedule. Most irrigation timers have an A & B program. Program A can be set for the regular watering. Program B can be programmed for multiple days to only water those zones containing the new plant material during the establishment period.) Low Volume Irrigation Low volume irrigation is defined as a maximum of a halfgallon per minute (30 gallons per hour) per emitter. Low volume irrigation is not approved for lawns or turfgrass. Low volume irrigation of plant materials other than lawns and grass is allowed any day, however, you must water before 8 a.m. or after 6 p.m. The use must not be wasteful and unnecessary. Hand Watering Hand watering of plant materials other than lawns and turfgrass may occur on any day prior to 8:00 am or after 6:00 pm. Hand watering of lawns and turfgrass may only occur during the designated day and time for irrigation of established lawns and landscaping at that address. Chemical Treatment If chemicals such as pesticides, fertilizer, herbicides, insecticides and fungicides are applied to your lawn or landscape plant by a certified professional applicator, they can be watered in according to manufacturer’s instructions within 24 hours of the chemical treatment. Applying water following a

chemical treatment by a certified professional applicator is allowable on your non-designated watering day provided a dated chemical advisory marker showing the date of application is visible in the yard. All such watering must be done before 8 a.m. or after 6 p.m. If you apply a chemical treatment to your lawn or landscape plants yourself, the watering in of those chemicals must be done on your designated watering day for your address prior to 8 a.m. or after 6 p.m. Decorative Fountains and Other Aesthetic Water Features Aesthetic water features may only be operated four hours per day and the hours of operation must be posted. Car Washing Car washing is limited to once per week on the designated watering day for the location. Commercial car washes, including mobile detailing businesses, may still operate on any day and time. Fundraiser car washes are banned. Pressure Washing Pressure washing for aesthetic purposes is allowed once on an annual basis. Pressure washing for necessary purposes, such as prior to painting or to correct a health or safety hazard, is allowed as needed. Irrigation System Maintenance Irrigation systems may be operated during restricted hours for cleaning and maintenance purposes, but limited to 10 minutes per week. An attendant must remain visibly on site during the entire cleaning and maintenance operation. HG NEWS
