SoDo NRZ Minutes September 17, 2014 – Hartford Public Library 3rd Floor Activity Room Attendance: Board Members: R. Zaleski, P. Abrams, F. Gordon-­‐Quiroga, C. Lowell, C. Sicbaldi, M. Moriarty, M. DiBella Guests: P.O. A. DeMaine, P.O. V. Benvenuto, J. Howard, J. DiBella, R. Espinoza, T. Cunningham, S. Vazquez, H. Lynch (HFD), Police Report: Welcomed new Community Officer: P.O. Vincent Benvenuto overall crime continues to decrease-­‐ down 12.7%. 12 car breaks – there were arrests made 1 stolen car (recovered 5 days later) 1 sexual assault but no details because the report is still sealed Envirofest was coming up the following weekend, expecting large crowds. Guest Speaker: Marc DiBella, Chair of the Hartford Democratic Town Committee -­‐gave an update on Gold St plan and the role of the DTC, which is actually to not get directly involved in constituent matters, as they do not fall under their purview. As a concerned neighbor Marc is trying to find some common ground but there is no official comment from the DTC -­‐provided a brief election update: very important election this year -­‐municipal update: he understands there was some concern that the make up of the council candidates last year was all male and they are beginning to solicit names for the next election. The next municipal election will be for Mayor, Council constables and ROV Discussion: It seems the earliest the Council will vote on the plan to move Gold St would be at the November Council Meeting. Strategy Committee: Connie Lowell provided a handout of the SoDo Mission, Vision and a strategy for discussion at the next meeting. Trees that were taken down at the Church: there are questions whether or not proper protocol was followed. Will be discussed at the next meeting (October) There are reports of missing trees along Main St and need to contact DPW to see if they can be replaced In July, the HPA announced there would be a residential parking permit program in the city and there was a discussion as to which SODO streets should be included-­‐ Capitol, Whitman, Buckingham, Linden. There will be visitor passes and there are still details to be finalized. City is also looking into a Bike Share
