Welcome... Welcome to this athletic season at Tiffin University. I invite you to watch and cheer for all of our women’s and men’s teams. Intercollegiate athletics play an important role at Tiffin University. The students who participate develop life-long friendships and learn leadership and teamwork skills, how to set goals and work hard to achieve those goals, how to deal with adversity, the importance of persistence, sportsmanship, and physical fitness, and other skills and abilities that contribute to satisfying and productive lives and careers. Our athletic program also provides visibility and name recognition for TU, helps develop a sense of excitement, morale and school spirit on campus, and provides opportunities for students, employees, alumni, and supporters to unite behind a common goal. Our athletic programs have enjoyed tremendous success in recent years with conference championships, teams being nationally ranked and challenging at national tournaments. There have been numerous individual accolades including All-Americans, and it is no small accomplishment that in the past few years we have set new standards of excellence with our individual and team academic achievements. We expect our student-athletes to be just as successful in the classroom. A recent self study conducted by the university indicated that, of all the athletes who completed their eligibility at Tiffin University in the last five years, 95% of those athletes graduated. While many colleges would be ecstatic with these results, we will never be content until it is 100%. We are proud of our rich history and look forward to setting new milestones as we enter the NCAA Division II playing field and the highly competitive Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Tiffin University Head Volleyball Coach Dana Cordova Dana Cordova has been named Head Volleyball Coach for Tiffin University. Cordova, who takes over from departed coach T.J. Shouse, most recently served as Head Coach at Montana State UniversityBillings, guiding the squad in 2008-09. Prior to that, she served for eight years as head coach of Otero Junior College’s volleyball and golf teams. Cordova served as the head coach of the OJC Rattler volleyball and golf teams since 2000. “I am truly honored to be part of an exciting chapter of Tiffin University Volleyball’s continued growth,” said Cordova. “I look forward to leading these young ladies to achievements on and off the court. I am proud to be part of the Tiffin University Family.” Originally from Trinidad, Colo., Cordova attended Hoehne High School where she was a standout athlete receiving all-state honors in both volleyball and basketball and was a four-time state qualifier in track. Cordova then attended Otero Junior College on a basketball scholarship. After earning all-region honors her freshman and sophomore years at OJC, Cordova was named to the NJCAA All-American Team. She earned her associates of arts degree at OJC and transferred to McPherson College in McPherson, Kan. There, she received all-conference honors as well as leading the conference in rebounding. While at McPherson, she completed her bachelor of arts degree and was an assistant volleyball coach for one year, before returning to Otero Junior College as the head volleyball and golf coach. Over her eight-year career at OJC, Cordova posted an overall volleyball record of 165-155. During those eight years she has had 10 players named to All-Region IX teams, and in 2005, her team received the “Sheila R. Worley Sportsmanship” Award. In 2007, Cordova’s golf team finished on top of Region IX, winning all four Region IX tournaments. Along with an outstanding performance on the court, Cordova’s student-athletes in volleyball and golf also excelled in the classroom as she had a 97.4 percent graduation rate. During her career at Otero, Cordova had 13 Academic All-Americans, 52 Academic All-Region selections and the team was ranked as high as 12th nationally in team grade-point average.

Assistant Coach Maggie Petersen Maggie Petersen enters her first year coaching with the Dragons. She most recently served as Assistant Volleyball Coach at Montana St. Billings from 2008-09, working with Coach Cordova. She has also played for Coach Cordova, competing at Otero Junior College from 2003-05 where whe earned All-Region honors and was a three-time All-Academic selection. She has also spent a number of years coaching young players at the Black Forest Volleyball Club following a highly honored high school career at Ponderosa High School. Maggie earned her Bachelorâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s degree in History from the University of Colorado at Denver. She is a native of Parker, Colorado.

2010 Volleyball Season in Review The 2010 Tiffin University volleyball team enjoyed a turnaround season, reversing course from a 4-29 record in 2009 to post a 15-15 overall record in 2010. The team also made its mark in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play, posting an 11-8 record in GLIAC play. Overall Tiffin finished 3rd in the GLIAC South Division. Leading the charge in 2010 were two Second Team All-GLIAC standouts - senior middle hitter Brittany Teaford and freshman outside hitter Danielle McQuade. Teaford led the squad with a .317 attack percentage and 119 blocks. She placed 4th in the GLIAC in blocking and was also top 10 in attack percentage. McQuade, meanwhile, led TU in kills with 319, good for over 3.00 kills per set, and placed 6th overall in the GLIAC for kills. Joining Teaford and McQuade in TUâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s offensive attack were senior outside hitter Brooke Bernabei, senior setter Jessica Adams, and junior libero Lindsay Heller. Bernabei finished her career 4th in Dragons history with 1283 kills, posting 279 kills overall in 2010, good for second on the team. Adams dished out 973 assists (9.18 per set) and placed 7th in the GLIAC in setting. Heller was a Honorable Mention All-GLIAC player who led the team with 532 digs. She second in the GLIAC in digs. Margaret Betz and Giavanna DiPietro also got in on the attack, totaling 109 and 176 kills, respectively. After opening the season 2-1 in non-conference play, the Dragons won three of their first four GLIAC matches, surprising a number of teams with their improved play. After jumping out to a 5-3 GLIAC record to start the season, the Dragons weathered a few weeks where they dropped 5 of 7 matches on the road against some of the top teams in the conference. TU bounced back at the end of the year, however, winning four straight GLIAC matches to end the regular season and position themselves for their first-ever trip to the GLIAC Tournament as the sixth seed. TU fell to nationally-ranked Northern Michigan in the opening round, but a dramatic turnaround that saw TU improve by 11 wins overall has the team excited for the 2011 season. Most significantly, TU won 11 GLIAC contests in 2010, 9 more wins than the previous two seasons combined.

Jordan is a defensive specialist and libero from Hartville, Ohio, where she attended Lake High School and was coached by Miranda Valentine. She is the daughter of Rick and Dory Jenkins, and sister to Cody and Lindsey. Some of her honors include 1st team All-District, 1st team All-County, and 1st team All-League. She is a Sports and Recreation Management major and plans on pursuing a degree in the athletic field after graduation.

Share the Pride, Build on Tradition is a $12 million comprehensive campaign designed to create endowed student scholarships, construct the new recreation center, and make other campus improvements. These enhancements, coupled with recent investments in new student apartments, the Tiffin University Nature Preserve, Paradiso Athletic Complex, and the Miami Street Improvement Project, will result in a total investment by Tiffin University of more than $30 million in the Tiffin community.

Campaign Objectives Recreation Center $9,400,000 The Recreation Center will consist of two connected buildings: a field house and an indoor practice facility. The connector will include a lobby and locker room facilities. Other Campus Development $1,600,000 Over the past several decades, TU has created a campus that not only reflects the Universityâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s own growth and success, but also enhances the appearance and economic well being of the City of Tiffin. To continue pursuing the campus master plan, TU seeks $1.6 million for land acquisition, landscaping, parking and others amenities. Endowed Student Scholarships $1,000,000 Without financial aid, many Tiffin University students could not afford higher education. Since over 80 percent of TU students receive some level of aid, TU leaders seek $1 million to bolster the endowment resources of the University to create additional student scholarships.
