Ashley Brooke Designs I was born and raised in the Sunshine State, and grew up watching the Space Shuttle shoot up into the sky on the regular (I’m talking to you, Titusville!). My background is in Interior Design, which still holds a special place in my textile loving heart. I believe personal stationery is an extension of your personal style, (not to mention one of life’s greatest luxuries) and am passionate about creating a bevy of lifestyle products that are useful, functional, and add a bit of sass to a normal, everyday routine. You’ll find me the happiest over date nights with my adorable husband, catching up with my girlfriends, ridiculously hysterical family vacations, and a good cup of joe. I am a lifelong lover of oversized sunglasses, tulle skirts, and Saturday afternoons at the Farmer’s market (followed by mimosas, of course!).

What do you love most about your home?

w w w.ashleybrookedesigns.com

Besides the people who are in it? I love how bright, airy, and personal it feels. We have little treasures tucked away in bookcases, love letters pinned up on frames, fresh flowers by the sink, and bright red door; it’s very “us” & I love that.

In one sentence describe your dream home… This is so hard!! Can I cheat and show you my pinterest board?

What three words best describe your style?

Most cherished possession? All of our photographs. I know that sounds extra generic… but what do you expect, I am a photographer’s daughter!

Favorite bloom? Garden Roses. So pretty!

Tailored, Whimsical & Classic (I realize those three things do not go together… but, I feel like it’s true!)

Signature scent?

What is your current favorite design trend?

Lipstick!

Pattern on pattern! I can’t get enough!

Wild Bluebell by JoMalone

I never leave home without... What would we find on your bar cart?

Oh gosh. Everything from the What’s one design faux pas that essentials, to the making of people should avoid at all costs? a refreshing Moscow Mule to Are there any faux pas any more?! fancy bitters for my go-to cocktail, an Old Fashioned.

Three favorite reads?

Vogue, Architectural Digest & Better Homes and Garden

Favorite all time fabric?

Secret small joy?

Your one go-to decorating tip?

Freshly popped popcorn.

When in doubt, add a little whimsy!

Don’t make me choose!

I collect... Jewelry. I love the meaning behind the old pieces I have been given by my grandmothers that I make new, and the new pieces I have been given by my husband. Jewelry is special, sentimental, and sparkly… is there anything better?

Linens, flowers, & candles. Everything else is just icing on the cake!

Dominique DeLaney Dominique is the Interior Designer and Blogger behind Comfy Cozy Couture whose mission is to create refined and collected interiors so clients can live their most stylish life. Inspired by nostalgia and creating a story in every space, Dominique incorporates her love for vintage decor, fashion and culture into every aspect of her design. w w w.comfycozycouture.com

What do you love most about your home? I love that it feels like us. Homes are a continuous work in progress and my favorite thing has been collecting pieces along the way that reflect our style and they all tell a story.

In one sentence describe your dream home…

What’s one design faux pas that people should avoid at all costs?

A classic historic home on a quaint little street full of old hardwoods, collected treasures and unusual pieces.

Matching furniture sets are my worst nightmare! I recommend choosing pieces that will complement one another and reflect your personal style. When you buy everything all at once it’s so obvious. A room should feel collected and pieced together over time even if that means having a bare spot or two until you find the perfect thing.

What three words best describe your style? Classic, Layered and Colorful.

What is your current favorite design trend? I’m not really one to follow design “trends” per se but I do love that wallpaper is making a HUGE comeback. It’s a great way to make a bold statement in any space!

What’s one thing people may not know about you? I’m terrified of public speaking and I’m addicted to buying dresses.

Three favorite reads? Elle Decor, Domino and House Beautiful.

Most cherished possession? My engagement ring and home décor wise it’d be my vintage Milo Baughman leopard chairs!

Favorite bloom? Peonies or Parrot Tulips.

Your one go-to decorating tip: “Buy the best and you only cry once.” That doesn’t necessarily mean outrageously expensive, but the best you can afford…then you won’t feel the need to trash it in a few years. If you invest in pieces that you love they will always be timeless classics.

YOUR GO TO ENTERTAINING TIP:

Always keep a bottle of champagne in the fridge for impromptu celebrations!

Playful, happy, and inviting.

I spent the first 20 years of my career helping to develop large scale retail brands before leaving Corporate America to be able to spend more time with my family and start Pencil & Paper Creative Development Co.

What is your current favorite design trend? Aged brass....hope it stays for a while!

What’s one design faux pas that people should avoid at all costs? Buying everything from one store. Your home should never look as if it’s jumped off the pages of a store catalog. I think my favorite spaces are a reflection of the people who live in them...buy what you love!

Three favorite reads? Vogue, Domino, Matchbook and the J Crew Catalog

I never leave home without? My cellphone for snapping photos!

Favorite Bloom? Pink Peonies and Tomato Red Ranunculus

Katie Schloss As Jane Street skips from one to five, three jane is an imaginary address curated by designer and former publicist Katie Schloss. This whimsical realm is a constant player and source of inspiration in Schloss’ ever evolving line of uniquely custom and brightly hued costume jewelry. Mr. Schloss’ works blends art deco styles, rich, saturated colors and a fanciful world filled with cocktail dresses, garden parties, gin and tonics. w w w.threejaneny.com

What do you love most about your home? I love the unexpected pops of color in my apartment. There is a great combination of old world charm and bright pops of turquoise that really reflect my own personal style.

In one sentence describe your dream home…

What’s one design faux pas that people should avoid at all costs?

Oh, so many ideas! One, secret passageways are a must. I also envision a library with a huge bay window, so I can get comfy cozy and read for hours. A wrap around porch with a fireplace may also be a solid add. And a gazebo à la “I am 16 Going on 17” in “The Sound of Music” for midnight swing dancing and Taylor Swift sing-a-longs.

Hanging art too high. You have to be able to see it!

What three words best describe your style? Quirky, bright, and patterned.

What is your current favorite design trend? Full skirts! I feel like I’m romping about Paris in1950s Dior, even though it’s most likely Zara.

Three favorite reads? Great Gatsby, Great Expectations, and anything from Assouline.

Favorite bloom? Peonies

Signature scent? Diptyque everything

I never leave home without... SPF 50+ for my princess skin

What would we find on your bar cart? Plenty of Bottle Opener Bracelets, smoked banana infused Bourbon (a recipe from Laundry in Steamboat Spring Colorado), a record player, and a typewriter to keep it Instagramable.

Fashion or Design Style Icon? Holly Golightly, all women of “Advanced Style,” and Alexa Chung

If you could invite anyone, who would you want to snuggle up on your SS sofa with? All of my favorite Great Aunts. They have the best stories and even better style. While we are snuggling, telling stories about the 1920s, ballet, and studio 54, I’d pick Hermione Granger to man my bar cart. Now that she’s 21, I bet she is one heck of a mixologist.

YOUR GO TO DECORATING TIP:

Less is more. I stick with mostly neutrals and one really fun pop of color.

Color Me Courtney I’m Courtney Quinn - New Yorker, fashion blogger, bulldog mom, pattern mixer and sequin enthusiast with a firm belief in the golden rule & red lipstick. w w w.colormecourtney.com

What do you love most about your home? I just moved into a new place (eekkk!) that has a little office alcove with exposed brick that I totally love, I also love (and also hate) that I have too many coffee table books than I know what to do with, so they become statement décor pieces in my home.

In one sentence describe your dream home…

What’s one design faux pas that people should avoid at all costs?

All I need is a walk-in closet, exposed brick, claw foot tub and more color than anyone would know what to do with – is that so much to ask?

Being too trendy – I know it can be enticing to dive head first into the trend-pool and immerse yourself in what’s hot, but then your place will look crazy dated when the next trend comeS around. I like investing in more classic pieces or things I know I will love forever, and trying the trends in moderation like accessories,

What three words best describe your style? Bright, Bold and Quirky

What is your current favorite design trend? I’ve heard a rumor that vintage tubs are making a come-back and I am totally on board with that! I also love that Brass is totally trending right now.

Most cherished possession?

Aside from my French Bulldog Waffles, that has to be my French Bulldog bank from Zgallerie. It was a gift from my Three favorite reads? father, who didn’t really like Mostly blogs and websites I live dogs before meeting Wafon Refinery 29 and Hello Giiggles fles and had probably never but also read up on blogger favs stepped foot in Zgallerie...so like Corals & Cognacs and Gal it is extra special to me. Meets Glam.

What’s one thing people may not know about you? I see your “one thing” and raise you two! One - that my mom is an interior designer so growing up she redecorated my room annually (and sometimes semi annually) with the latest design trends including custom L-shaped twin beds that doubled as couches, paper lanterns and at one point shiny CDs as wall art – gotta love the 90’s. People also don’t know that I am a bit of a school-geek and earned my MBA in luxury marketing + 2 BA degrees in marketing and tourism by the age 21.

YOUR GO TO DECORATING TIP:

Jacquelyn Clark With close to a decade of experience in the industry, plus many, many years arranging (and re-arranging) her bedroom as a child, it’s safe to say that Jacquelyn Clark, owner and principal of Lark & Linen Interior Design, lives and breathes design. Having previously worked for top tier design firms in Toronto, followed by two years as editor for the world renowned lifestyle and design site, Style Me Pretty Living, she has mastered the art of design under incredible. Her philosophy is simple: a well designed space should not only feel dreamlike, but be liveable, usable, and totally and completely you. w w w.jacquelynclark.com

What do you love most about your home? The light! We face south with no obstructions which means we get the most glorious sunlight for the vast majority of the day.

In one sentence describe your dream home… Effortlessly chic, and terribly comfortable.

What three words best describe your style? Casual, elegant, and slightly unexpected.

What is your current favorite design trend? I can’t seem to get away from deep indigo hues lately. Pair it with the softest shade of blush and I’m putty in your hands.

What’s one design faux pas that people should avoid at all costs? Spending big bucks on trendy pieces. Don’t do it!

Three favorite reads? Rue, Lonny and Domaine Home

Favorite bloom? Ranunculus

Secret small joy? Sneaking out for a mid-day tea break during a particularly busy day.

Signature scent? Dolce & Gabbana, Pour Femme. It’s slightly sweet with hints of vanilla and sandalwood, yet still smells fresh, modern and not at all cloying.

I never leave home without... Chapstick! I’m almost positive my lips no longer know how to moisturize themselves…

What would we find on your bar cart? A really great bottle of bubbly! And gin and soda, always.

Design Style Icon? As far as I’m concerned, Catherine Kwong can do absolutely no wrong.

Favorite all time fabric? Rebecca Atwood’s entire collection. She is absolutely brilliant when it comes to textiles. Her blurred stripe fabric is currently setting my heart aflutter.

MEET THE SOCIAL

Rae McConville

What do you love most about your home?

A former editor at HGTV, InStyle, and Harper’s Bazaar magazines, Rae McConville relocated to Mobile, Alabama in early 2014 and opened the design firm Rae McConville Interiors. After helping a few friends decorate their New York apartments, Rae realized she could blend the skills of an interior decorator with the mind of a home editor. Never afraid to mix styles, use color or layer pattern with more patterns, this Atlanta native offers a fresh perspective to residential design. Rae specializes in clients with real life challenges like kids with grubby fingers, shedding dogs, small budgets and helps to create beautiful spaces that can stand up to their daily life. Rae continues to work as a freelance home editor for national magazines as well as editing her own design blog, Arrae of Style. w w w.raemcconville.com

I love her history. She’s a minty green 1920s bungalow and the gem of my street. So yes, I personified her and gave her a name, “The Minty Lady” and everyone in the neighborhood knows her presence. I love that I’m just one of the lucky people who has gotten to live here and leave my mark on her long history.

In one sentence describe your dream home…

What’s one design faux pas that people should avoid at all costs?

Imagine a waterfront Tara but also has the poolside veranda from High Society out back. Is that too cliche?

Worrying about if everything “matches” or not. Buying a suite of “matching” furniture is the worst because no matter what decor you add around it, you’re still going to look like you went to one of those stores and bought the whole room. Your personal style will never shine through.

What three words best describe your style? Colorful, layered, polished.

What is your current favorite design trend? Layering rugs. It’s a great way to get an elevated look without breaking the bank. Big orientals or hides can be expensive, but smaller size ones are usually pretty affordable. Lay those over a larger inexpensive jute rug (try World Market or Rugs USA), and now you’ve got the high-end feeling of an oriental and still money to play with.

Most cherished possession? My oval diamond studs. They were my first real grown-up lady purchase after I got a big promotion at HGTV Magazine. They’re a daily reminder of what I’ve achieved plus they’re just so pretty!

What would we find on your bar cart? Maker’s Mark, Malbec, and vintage monogrammed barware.

Your go-to entertaining tip? I like to introduce a game to play with my dinner guests around the table. Could be as simple as asking everyone a funny would you rather question or playing classic telephone. It’s a great way for guests to get to know each other better and always guarantees a bunch of laughs!

YOUR GO TO DECORATING TIP:

Details are important and will instantly customize your space!
