CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

SUCCESSFUL TENURE

Keena Mays was named Conference USA Player of the Year, becoming the third player in program history to earn the league's top award, and was one of 50 finalists for the WBCA All-America award after averaging 18.4 points per game and shooting a league-high 40 percent on 3-point attempts. The junior transfer scored 23 points with 11 rebounds in her first game in over a year, and scored 33 in her second game at SMU.

Head coach Rhonda Rompola earned her 400th career win with a 69-60 victory at home against Tulsa on Feb. 21. Rompola, entering her 23rd season at the helm of the program, is 401-263 for her career, which includes nine 20-win seasons and 12 postseason appearances. The Mustangs have captured two conference tournament championships and three regular season titles under her leadership. She has coached three All-Americans, three Conference Players of the Year, two Conference Defensive Players of the Year and her players have earned 32 AllConference selections. Rompola has also been named Coach of the Year six times during her 20-year tenure.

STAFF CONSISTENCY Head coach Rhonda Rompola and associate head coach Lisa Dark have been together on the sidelines since Rompola took over the reins of the program 22 seasons ago. Assistant coach Deneen Parker joined the duo 18 years ago. The SMU staff has the second longest active tenure of any staff at one school. Danny Hughes joined the staff prior to the 2009-10 season and is entering his fifth year with the program.

RECENT SUCCESS In the past seven seasons, the Mustangs have had four 20-win seasons, won a Conference USA Tournament Championship, two C-USA regularseason titles, advanced to the NCAA Tournament and made three WNIT appearances.
