Sub-Branch President’s Report Since my last report I have carried out (2) RSL tribute services for departed comrades, Roy Harbach and John Faulds. On the evening of the 22nd May 2014 together with Kevin Hallam I attended a meeting of the Committee of the Soccer Club at Brenan Park, where certain matters were resolved. During the period from the 25th May and 29th May 2014 together with John Rowe, Senior Vice President we attended the Annual State Congress at the Coffs Harbour Ex-Services Club, Coffs Harbour. Fifteen motions from State Branch and sub-branches were discussed. These motions were voted on and (10) were carried and (5) were lost. Three (3) of the carried motions called on the Federal Government to revoke changes to DVA Veterans’ Entitlements outlined in the Federal Budget 2014-2015. Results of this and other motions passed will be published in the Reveille. On the 4th and 11th June 2014 I volunteered at the Donnybrook Day Club. On the 19th June 2014 I attended the Commonwealth Bank, Fairfield together with the Trustees, Secretary, Treasurer and the Chief Executive Officer of the Smithfield RSL Club Ltd to change account signatures. Following the Bank visit discussions were held relating to a State Branch audit to be held on the 26th June 2014. On the 20th June 2014 on behalf of the State President I attended a Sons of Anzac presentation at Baulkham Hills, Norwest Business Park. The crux of the presentation was to launch Sons of Anzac activities in New South Wales, which will climax in a tour to Vietnam in 2015 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first deployment of combat troops to Vietnam. An Essay competition has been organized with schools. The winner of the Essay together with his family will travel on the tour at no cost. Interested parties should attend a presentation at Rooty Hill RSL at 2pm on the 10th August 2014. Further information can be obtained on 1300880340 or www.vietnamtours2015. On the 26th June 2014 a State Audit was carried out by Julian Waetford, Compliance Supervisor RSL NSW. In attendance were myself, Secretary, Treasurer, Trustees and the Smithfield Club Ltd accountant. Results were favourable and in compliance with audit requirements. Members are reminded about the VP Day ceremony to be held at 10am on the 14th August 2014 at Cabra-Vale Park. We are a cosponsor of this event. Refreshments will be available at Cabra-Vale Diggers Club following the ceremony. All members are invited. To all members who are in ill health I wish them a speedy recovery.
