BOEING ASSEMBLY, INTEGRATION & TEST (AI&T) Monday, March 26 | 12:30 PM – 4:00 PM Boeing in El Segundo is the largest satellite factory in the world, encompassing more than 1 million square feet of manufacturing and engineering space. In 50 years, the plant has produced satellites used for research, exploration, communication, navigation, entertainment, intelligence and surveillance. Boeing in El Segundo produced the first spacecraft to make a fully controlled soft landing on the moon and the first spacecraft to penetrate Jupiter’s atmosphere. It also provided the radar for the Magellan spacecraft that took detailed images of Venus’ surface. The tour of Boeing’s El Segundo factory will include opportunities to view satellites in various stages of production in addition to the support test equipment and assets used to process space vehicles through integration and functional test.
Tour of the James Webb Space Telescope, which is a key program for NASA and the scientific community (central to the nation’s ground- and space-based astrophysics program). Northrop Grumman is the observatory contractor, responsible for three of four observatory segment elements and observatory integration.

MIXED REALITY SOLUTION CENTER Learn the power virtual reality, augmented reality and heads-up displays can have in manufacturing from engineering to production and maintenance. We will show the process starting from design engineering and how that information is used on the factory floor all the way through maintenance and repair. This will be a live, participative demonstration of the technologies and will also include a demonstration on how to take a 3D CAD model and develop a set of fairly simple rules that are used to create assembly instructions, potentially reducing or eliminating the need to make drawings.
