WELCOME PRESIDENT’S REPORT 2010-2011

Dear St. Michael’s College School Community, Due to the fact that my out-of-town travel was less extensive in 2010-11, I was able to teach a grade 10 history class! It was a lot of fun for me and it gave me a first-hand look at our students and a better grasp of the school from the students’ perspective. There is no doubt that we have outstanding young men attending St. Michael’s. All of them are gifted in some way. Many are excellent students, athletes, leaders and artists. This is also true of our teaching, administrative and business staff who share their gifts with our boys as it is true of our parents and alumni. Our challenge consequently is not so much to motivate the boys as to teach them how to achieve balance in their busy lives. Balance means that the boys find time for academics and other pursuits. It means that they need to be reflective people as well as active ones. They need to attend to their emotional and spiritual development, as well as their physical and intellectual selves. This balance is part of the DNA of St. Michael’s as evidenced by our motto, “Teach me Goodness, Discipline and Knowledge”. Our life in Christ is a multidimensional one that requires the growth of the whole person. Thank you for all you have done to help us in our efforts to shape our boys into solid, balanced Christian men.

CHAIR OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS REPORT 2010 - 2011

I am delighted to congratulate the administration, faculty and staff of St. Michael’s College School on another truly outstanding year. St. Michael’s is a Catholic student-centered place of educational excellence in the City of Toronto. At a time when it might be tempting to soften

“I’m very proud that St. Michael’s maintains a demanding curriculum that extends beyond the classroom.” academic standards,

The dictionary defines “holistic” as the character of something in which the parts are interconnected and explicable only by reference to the whole. What better way to describe St. Michael’s educational philosophy. Each element of the St. Mike’s experience is intimately connected with a totality that is Catholic in the best sense of the word. The whole person is educated; his life and outlook are refined and elevated. This past year, I was privileged to attend the beatification of John Henry Cardinal Newman. He was perhaps the nineteenth century’s greatest advocate of a liberal education. I’m happy to say that our liberal spirit lives on at St. Mike’s. Congratulations and best wishes for the 2011-12 school year. Sincerely,

Sincerely, Fr. Timothy Scott, C.S.B. Chair, Board of Governors Fr. Joseph Redican, C.S.B. President and CEO

FINANCIAL REPORT “The School will continue to be fiscally responsible in setting tuition fees and controlling costs to ensure that we overcome these challenges and ensure the viability of the school for years to come.” FINANCIAL REPORT FOR FISCAL 2011 FROM THE CONTROLLER’S OFFICE

Williams & Partners, Chartered Accountants LLP, have audited our financial statements for the year ended June 30, 2011, and they have expressed an unqualified opinion on the fair presentation of our financial statements. For the fiscal year ended June 30, 2011, the School’s Current Fund had a deficit of $1,360,073 from operations as compared to the previous year of $880,475. The increased deficit was mainly a result of cost increases in depreciation, operating costs for the new theatre for a full year, staff salaries and benefits, slightly lower enrolment (fewer students) and increased student bursaries. Increased tuition fees helped to offset some of these cost increases. It should be noted that this loss was reduced by a contribution of $550,000 from the St. Michael’s College High School Foundation, as well as $376,924 from investments and rental income. The overall deficit for the School’s Current Fund for the year was $433,149, as compared to a surplus of $147,846 for 2010. The Restricted Funds (Building and Scholarship) had an operating surplus of $968,867, down from last year’s surplus of $1,216,719. This was mostly due to a decrease in donor support (approximately $195,000) and lower Capital Improvement fees (approximately $135,000). These were partially offset by an increase in investment revenue of about $80,000.

ST. MICHAEL’S COLLEGE SCHOOL 2010~2011 ANNUAL REPORT

The Leader in Catholic Boys’ Education

Capital spending continues to focus on building and information technology improvements with $718,315 spent on School, Theatre and Arena improvements last year. Cash flow improved during the year by approximately $300,000 after paying back a $1,000,000 promissory note to the Foundation. With a Current Fund shortfall of $7.5M, we will continue to strive for annual positive cash flows from school operations to reduce this. Plans are in place to do so. As we look forward to the next school year and beyond, we can see many challenges, especially with maintaining enrolment at current levels. Therefore, the School will continue to be fiscally responsible in setting tuition fees and controlling costs to ensure that we overcome these challenges and ensure the viability of the school for years to come. Thank you all for your support. Yours truly,

Gino Saccone ’80 Controller

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE Concluding another year at St. Michael’s reminds us all of how quickly time passes us by. Three enlarged crests were placed on each level of the school, and one was placed in the floor just outside of the main office, as part of our Grand Entrance. The three crests on each level, emphasized one of Goodness, Discipline, or Knowledge and the ways in which our community defines these pillars of a faith-filled and responsible life. These visual representations within our school reminds us all each day of what it is that we are called to be at St. Michael’s. In support of this initiative, the school year also provided our students with an opportunity to listen to some very influential people from both the national and international stage. The school was visited by Mr. Sergio Marchionne ’71 (CEO, Fiat Chrysler Group), Mr. Brian Burke (GM, Toronto Maple Leafs), Mr. Stephen Brunt (Sports Editor, The Globe and Mail), and Mr. Paul Dennis (Sports Psychologist, Player Development Coach and Adjunct York Professor) all of whom spoke to hard work, taking ownership of challenges, being proud of who we are and respecting the dignity of all people. This past school year also witnessed the inaugural year of the Pastoral Care Centre under the direction of Fr. John Malo, C.S.B ’66. It is a place where students congregate to socialize and unwind during the school day, especially during the lunch periods before heading back to class. More importantly, it is a place for students who are experiencing difficulties in their lives to come and discuss. With the challenges of growing up in today’s world, students are supported and counselled through a myriad of problems including family situations, faith challenges and teenage social issues. Alongside of the Pastoral Care Centre, we continue our faith development in the school through Masses, retreats, theology courses, opportunities to help the less fortunate, and events that help inspire our young St. Michael’s men to lead lives filled with integrity and that are faithful to a Catholic perspective. Once again, the students outdid themselves academically with almost half of the school attaining honour roll status and most achieving over seventy percent. Almost 100% of our graduates were accepted to university. All of these achievements are due to the diligence of the students, the support from parents, and the expertise of our faculty. One of the greatest gifts that our senior

students give back to the school is by being role models for our younger students. Discipline and hard work lead our students to find success. Missing the goal is not seen as failure, but rather as a challenge to do better. Further mentoring is seen through the Leadership Programme that helps build leaders here at St. Michael’s. These individuals become mentors at camp for our new grade seven and nine students. It is the challenge of these mentors to help the new students learn what it means to be a St. Michael’s man and to foster a healthy environment and productive student body. Last but not least, the co-curricular programmes were once again extremely successful. OFSAA championships were won in volleyball for the first time ever, lacrosse for a second year in a row, and a bronze medal was won in baseball. Other OFSAA appearances included basketball, hockey, skiing, soccer, and track and field. Furthermore, the school won many CISAA championships and our student athletes continue to represent the school proudly. Alongside of these athletic accomplishments, our Art programmes and clubs provided opportunities for students to develop a whole set of different talents. The Arts Week was another success showing off our burgeoning artists and the spring music concerts were spectacular. This year’s musical, “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”, was a resounding success and was a real hit with audiences. Our clubs also performed admirably with highlights coming from Destination Imagination which placed five teams in the global finals, and our trivia experts and debaters continued to find success in their competitions. The 2010-2011 school year was indeed a good one and it was a result of the efforts from the Basilian Fathers, faculty, staff, students, parents and alumni. St. Michael’s College School is as good as it is because all of these groups come together and work for the best interests of the students and the College School itself. I look forward to the continued success of St. Michael’s College School in the years ahead. Sincerely,

Terence M. Sheridan ’89 Principal

CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES ASIAN ASSOCIATION In addition to on-campus meetings, this year the Asian Association collaborated with Asian Clubs at other schools, via a Facebook group. This led to joint outings with other Asian Associations that included participating in sports nights, a skating evening, and a meal at Wu's Buffet, followed by a fun night of karaoke. Moderator: Mrs. Sandy Gray BADMINTON CLUB Throughout the winter months, students arrived at school at 7:30 a.m. three days a week to play pick-up badminton and hone their skills in friendly competition. Students ranged from grades 7 to 12 and were at various levels of ability. It was a fine way to begin the school day for these students. Moderator: Mr. Peter McCann ‘72 BIGLIARDINO CLUB This year the bigliardino / foosball tournaments were hosted by the Italian Club and provided fun and entertainment for all. These tournaments demonstrated the strength of the Italian spirit present in the yellow brick walls of St. Michael's providing friendly and exciting competition. Moderator: Mr. Gennaro DiLeo CLASSICS CLUB In its founding year, the Classics Club attracted a solid number of students to the weekly meetings. The students watched films and documentaries on Greek and Roman subjects, often followed (or interrupted) by lively debates. The club also took a trip to the Royal Ontario Museum. Moderator: Dr. Matthew Doyle COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMME A famous proverb says, “Give a man a fish and feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and feed him for life.” For the past several years, St. Michael’s students have been helping to improve the lives of hundreds of elementary students in needy areas of Toronto. Volunteers have provided the life-changing gift of improved learning by mentoring students in literacy skills, reading, writing, mathematics, and homework completion. In 2011, St. Michael’s students donated some 500 hours to this valuable programme. On a weekly basis, volunteers mentored elementary school students in their academic studies at St. Alphonsus School. Students attended information and training sessions and were eager to help “feed others for life”. The programme concluded with a graduation party, where the St. Michael’s students presented their St. Alphonsus counterparts with St. Michael’s t-shirts. Moderator: Mr. David Fischer DEBATE CLUB The Debate Club participated in a number of tournaments. The team traveled to Montreal to compete in the McGill Debate Tournament. Senior debaters traveled to Richmond Hill High School to participate in the Ontario Student Debating Union’s Metro Regional Tournament. Novice debaters trekked 10 /

to Waterloo to debate in the Ontario Student Debating Union’s Junior Provincial Tournament. Lastly, SMCS hosted the Pro Con Debating League Championship Tournament in which the junior team reached the quarter finals. Moderators: Mr. Pat Mancuso ‘90 and Mr. John Vella ’85

GOOD SHEPHERD REFUGE As part of the outreach programme, senior students volunteered their time twice a month at the Good Shepherd Refuge serving meals to the homeless and organizing goods at the local food bank. The experience helps to build empathy and raise awareness of poverty in Toronto. Moderators: Ms. Emily Slowikowski and Mr. Peter Bissonnette

DECA (Developing Excellence Celebrating Achievement) In its second year, the 2010-2011 DECA team found itself in a rebuilding year with only four returning members. In the oral competition, the team of Andrew Kim ‘11 and Shu Hayakawa ’11 placed 98th out of several hundred students in the University of Guelph (new business financial services) category, while David Yu ’11 placed 15th in the University of Waterloo (human resources management) category. Moderator: Mr. Kirt Charter ‘81

GREEN COUNCIL The Green Council members met every week to discuss green initiatives and express their concerns in letter writing campaigns. A poster campaign helped to raise awareness about conservation, recycling and clean living. During the second semester, students attended the Green Living Show and learned about innovations in green technology. By participating in the Green Council, students gained a keen awareness of environmental issues not only in our own community, but also in the global village. Moderators: Ms. Emily Slowikowski and Mr. Michael Quinn

DESTINATION IMAGINATION Destination Imagination is an extraordinary non-profit organization that provides educational programmes for students to learn and experience creativity, teamwork and problem solving. Every year, 100,000 students in more than 30 countries participate in five creative challenges. Destination Imagination is an educational programme in which student teams solve openended challenges and present their solutions at tournaments. Teams are tested to think on their feet, work together and devise original solutions that satisfy the requirements of the challenges. Participants gain more than just basic knowledge and skills, they also learn to unleash their imaginations and take unique approaches to problem solving. A Destination Imagination challenge is an exercise that socially and intellectually activates students by prompting them to use creativity and teamwork to solve a problem. Every season, teams of up to seven members focus on designing and creating solutions to two separate types of Challenges: Team Challenges and Instant Challenges. Moderator: Mr. Francesco Bazzocchi ‘83

IRISH CLUB Despite the graduation of a number of stalwart members in June, the Irish Club continued to thrive in its fourth year of existence. Sixty members signed up for the club and began the year with the customary screening of “In the Name of the Father”. In the fall, two highly competitive Gaelic football matches were played between teams representing Dublin and Galway. The Club kept abreast of the latest developments in Irish rugby, hurling and soccer. Members also participated in the inter-club foosball tournament, with Duncan Nairne ‘12 and Conor Ross ‘12 finishing third. Special thanks are due to Alex Guiney ‘11 and Nicholas Reddon ‘11 who designed and organized the official club t-shirt with the Mporium. Moderator: Dr. Matthew Doyle

FILM PRODUCTION CLUB The Film Production Club had a busy year producing videos for the Spirit Rally, Student Government events and this year’s musical, ``Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”. Moderator: Ms. Saverina Allevato

ITALIAN CLUB The main promoter of Italian culture in the St. Michael's College School community was the Italian Club. There is a large number of students of Italian origin at St. Mike's and the Italian Club was a place of education, fellowship and some friendly competition for those of Italian background and those who were not. Every year, the Club organizes tournaments, trips and cultural excursions. Moderator: Mr. Gennaro DiLeo

FRENCH CLUB The French Club served to promote the French culture beyond the classroom atmosphere. The group met about once every two weeks to eat at French restaurants, watch French films, prepare culinary treats and much more. Soyez les bienvenus! Moderator: Mlle. Anna DiMeglio

JUNIOR AND SENIOR MATH CLUBS The Junior Math Club met weekly starting in January during Day 1 lunches to practice for the University of Waterloo math contests that took place in February and April. They wrote the Pascal, Cayley and Fermat contests in February and the top 10 scorers were invited to participate in the second round of contests, namely, the Fryer, Hypatia and Galois contests. Overall, the members of both clubs, 35 students in total, displayed a passion for problem-solving and an obvious aptitude and enthusiasm for math and should be congratulated for their valiant effort at all the contests. Moderator: Mrs. Irene Dankowycz The SMCS Senior Math Club (SMC-squared) met monthly from October to April to compete in the High School Mathematics League. They also wrote other contests organized by the Math Department which included the Canadian Open, American Math Competition, Euclid Math Contest and the American Invitational Mathematics Examination. MARCH BREAK TRIP “The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.” ~ St. Augustine One recognizes the value of exposing language students to travel experiences abroad when they say "we need to come back here the summer of the year we graduate," or "I really want to study French now." When SMCS Modern Languages students traveled to France and Italy during the March Break, everything they had learned in the classroom "came to life" and was contextualized culturally. An appreciation for second-language learning and for cultural awareness was gained when they visited the captivating cities of Paris, Nice, Eze, Florence, Rome and Venice...Voyager c'est vivre! Moderators: Mlle. Anna DiMeglio and Mr. Gennaro DiLeo PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB The SMCS Photography Club includes students and teachers whose mandate is to take pictures at SMCS events. These pictures can be found at http://smcsphotoblog.wordpress.com/, a student run archive of photographs. Moderators: Mr. David Fischer, Dr. Mark Louden and Mr. John Vella ‘85 PREFECTS St. Michael's College School Prefects take on the responsibility to use all their talents, academic, artistic, and athletic, for the benefit of the St. Michael's College School community and not expect anyone other than those they serve to notice. Prefects are chosen on the basis of how well they have lived the virtues of goodness, discipline and knowledge, during their first years at St. Michael's. They take the responsibility to instil in others their own desire to embody the St. Michael's man. They also perform invaluable services through various activities and functions where members of the public have occasion to meet the student body. Moderator: Fr. William May, C.S.B. PRO- LIFE CLUB The Pro-Life Club continues to stand up for the right to life of all human beings from conception to natural death. Moderators: Mr. Peter Bissonnette and Mr. Sean Stokes LEGO ROBOTICS The 2010-2011 edition of FIRST Lego Robotics team was again a successful one. After hard work and preparation from September to November, the team had a good performance in the qualifying tournament at Crescent School. The team won first place for Design and Robot performance and qualified for the provincial tournament. In the last competition at the province level facing strong opponents, the team impressed the judges with their technical solutions and were awarded second place “Innovation Design”. A very enthusiastic group of students made the team the best one so far. Congratulation guys! Moderator: Mr. Adrian Bucur QUEST The Quest Group participated in a programme sponsored by the Canadian Centre for Diversity, which involves an interreligious dialogue with other grade 11 students from Community Hebrew Academy of Toronto (CHAT) and Islamic Foundation School (IFS). The boys did St. Mike's proud - not only as representatives of our school and Catholic faith tradition, but also in the openness and warmth they brought to their friendships with the Jewish and Muslim students from the partner schools. SOCIAL JUSTICE CLUB With David Rossetti ’11 and Kevin Fitzgerald ’11 as co-presidents of the Social Justice Club, students met weekly to discuss topics such as poverty, hunger, and homelessness. Students organized the 30 Hour Famine to benefit World Vision, raising over $2,000. Members David Rossetti ’11 and Maxwell Townsend ’12 traveled to India to volunteer their time teaching. When they returned, they shared their experiences with club members, inspiring others to take part in service trips. By participating in the Social Justice Club, students learn about issues of inequality and become empowered to support change. Moderator: Ms. Emily Slowikowski STUDENT GOVERNMENT Under the direction of President Elliot Park ’11, the Student Government started the year off by hosting the exciting Homecoming Spirit Rally “Fired-Up”. Throughout the year, the SMCS student body organized many spiritual initiatives namely the yearly Thanksgiving Food Drive and Christmas baskets. This year they also organized a fundraising campaign supporting the Japan Relief Fund. The success of the dances allowed the Student Government to substantially upgrade weight room equipment. Moderators: Ms. Saverina Allevato and Fr. Joseph Redican, C.S.B. TOWER MEDIA Tower Media had another successful year, delivering school news daily to the entire St. Michael’s community through the format of a newsroom broadcast. Through the implementation of new technology, the programme has evolved into an integral part of daily life at St. Michael’s. Tower Media is an example of a team that is truly more than the sum of its parts. Moderator: Mr. John Walsh ’73 VEX ROBOTICS The St. Michael's Robotics Team participated in its first set of VEX Robotics Competitions in 2010-2011. The year started out with a lot of preparatory work by the students. Every VEX Competition came with its own competitive game and this year was no different. Once the students learned the aims of the competition and how they wished to participate, they set out to design and build their robots. Two very different robots were built for the competition. In their first ever competition, both teams qualified for the play-offs at the Toronto Regional Vex Competition. This was a great achievement that recognized their efforts and hard work. Only one robot was entered in the pre-Christmas tournament in St. Catharines, placing second among 60 teams in the round robin. In their final tournament of the year held in St. Catharines in February, one robot was successful again in placing in the top five. Both teams gained a great deal of experience that will help them prepare for next year. The Club is looking forward to the upcoming season of robotics competitions with a combination of experienced and new students. Moderator: Mr. Frank Heijmans

ATHLETICS ARCHERY The St. Michael’s Archery Team once again hosted the Father Mulcahy C.S.B. Archery Tournament for over 50 archers in Ontario and competed at OFSAA in May with very respectable results for new team members.

CROSS COUNTRY Under 14: The U-14 Cross Country team won every meet they entered during the regular season and had a number of runners finish in the top ten in each race. The team finished second overall at the final CISAA meet. The team's MVP was Vincent Fabiano ’15 who consistently finished in the top five of each race. Congratulations to all the team members for their dedication and hard work. The midget, junior and senior teams have 32 consecutive overall CISAA/TDCAA titles going back to 1979, as well as 115 age division titles over the past 32 years. Senior: The Sr. Kerry Blues had an inconsistent season, with a number of new players in the offensive backfield and on defense, and the team struggled in an opening season loss to St. Andrew’s. The players gained some confidence and experience in winning their next two games, but suffered a setback as they lost game four to the eventual league champions Upper Canada College. The team won their quarter final playoff game against De La Salle and had to face Upper Canada again in the semi-final. A valiant effort by the defense kept the game close until the final two minutes but the offense was unable to find any consistency and unable to score. The season ended with a 17-3 loss. GOLF Junior: The Jr. Golf team finished two strokes out of first place last year and were determined to recapture CISAA at a very tough Tangle Creek Golf Course in Barrie. Led by Christopher Wilson ’13 and Paul Tardella ’13, who both fired one-under par 71’s, they would not be denied and easily captured the Championship by a whopping 16 strokes. Senior: The Sr. Golf Team battled but could not overcome the OFSAA defending champion, Upper Canada College. Mr. Carcasole and Mr. Ross ’85 would like to acknowledge and thank the graduating players from this year’s team and wish them well in their future both on and off the course. LACROSSE Under 14: This year’s U-14 Blue Gaels team went undefeated throughout the season, and capped off their perfect record by winning the CISAA Championship. Season highlights include winning the Upper Canada College Tournament by defeating Nichols, The Beaches and Brampton, avenging last season’s loss with a triumphant 12-0 win over Kingsway College School in the semi-finals, and the 9-3 CISAA Championship victory over Upper Canada College. Congratulations on a perfect 11 – 0 season. Varsity: After finishing the 2010 campaign with an OFSAA Golf Medal, the Varsity Blue Gaels had high hopes for 2011 with most of the championship squad intact. On the tournament circuit, the Gaels were successful on both sides of the border, winning the Colgate University Tournament (New York), the John Mack Classic Tournament in (New York), the University of Notre Dame Mid-West Catholic Tournament (Indiana), the Aurora Varsity Invitational Tournament and their own Double-Blue Classic Tournament. St. Michael's Varsity Blue Gaels got ahead early and never looked back on their way to a 12-7 Championship win and second consecutive OFSAA gold medal. MOUNTAIN BIKING The Mountain Biking team finished their muddy season in Barrie at Hardwood Hills with over 250 cyclists from all over Ontario competing for the provincial finals. The team beat Royal St. George’s and Crescent in round robin play, then went on the beat Crestwood in the semi- finals. In the final, the team beat St. Andrew’s 7-2 in a game that was very close until Massimo Demarinis ’15 came up with a key hit late in the game to gain some valuable runs. Junior: The Jr. Azzurri had an outstanding season, winning all of their regular season games and clinching a semi-final spot. Offensive and especially defensive efforts by the players allowed the keeper, to capture a shutout and the Jr. Azzurri to advance to the final with a solid 2 – 0 win. Senior: The Sr. Azzurri had a great start to the year, finishing the first half of the season topping the table. GRADUATION REPORT These proud men are now prepared to take on a diverse number of educational and life experiences that lie ahead. As is tradition with recent graduating classes at St. Michael’s College School, the Class of 2011 has officially walked through the ‘Students Entrance Archway’ on the front lawn, symbolizing the completion of their time at the school and a tribute to a tradition of 160 years of excellence in Catholic education. These proud men are now prepared to take on a diverse number of educational and life experiences that lie ahead. This year, like all others, a strong and intellectually gifted group of well-centred men will continue their journey in education. Congratulations to the 197 new alumni who represent our graduating class, of which 94 percent are moving on to top universities throughout Ontario, Canada and internationally. In addition, 63 percent of the Class were recognized as Ontario Scholars and more than 50 percent received a university admissions award. The University of Toronto continues to be a popular choice amongst our graduating students as nearly a quarter of the graduating class accepted an offer to attend, with the University of Western Ontario (14 percent) and York University (11 percent) as the next two most popular destinations.

Congratulations and best wishes to the members of the Class of 2011 that chose to attend schools out of province, in the United States and overseas. Of note, we congratulate Anthony Fung, who has accepted a significant scholarship to attend the Berklee College of Music in the United States. A Liberal Arts education, ever increasingly popular, and the essence of St. Michael’s College School, is what our graduates take with them as they continue their journey in education. The majority of this year’s graduates have enrolled in a Liberal Arts programme at university. As well, Engineering and Life Sciences remain popular choices amongst our graduates. To this class, as I have had the honour of doing with a quarter century of graduating classes before, I extend a warm message of congratulations. Remember, as you open and walk through the next door put in your path, there will always be the warm and welcoming arms of your double blue pedigree awaiting you. Sincerely,

Giancarlo Mazzanti Director of Guidance

ST. MICHAEL’S COLLEGE SCHOOL FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE ARCHANGELS St. Michael’s College School is very excited of the success of the Archangel Programme in its second year. The Archangel Programme was started in 2009 when Fr. Redican, C.S.B. spoke to Joe Barnicke about the possibility of sponsoring one of the St. Michael’s students on a full bursary. Mr. Barnicke was very supportive of the initial programme and also approached a few of his friends that also had connections to the school for their assistances as well. Between the 2004-2005 and 2009-2010 academic years, the Basilian Fathers awarded $5,947,920 in financial assistance to a total of 855 students. This amounted to an average award of $6,957 per student during this time period. For the 2010-2011 academic year, 173 students will be awarded a total of approximately $1,723,940 or an average of $9,965 per student. This includes 28 students who will receive full tuition plus textbooks and uniform. The Archangels levels are:

On Saturday, October 2nd, 2010, despite the dreary weather, St. Michael’s College School held its annual Homecoming and it was a great success. Our campus was visited by Royal St. George College, Upper Canada College, Crescent School and Trinity College to take on our various athletic teams. The day was also filled with activities for kids, performances by our very talented Sr. Concert Band and football halftime performances by the SMCS Jr. and Sr. Drumlines and much more! We would like to thank our parent and alumni committee members and volunteers who helped make this day an amazing event!

1995 – 2004, held on Saturday, August 7, 2010, at the Glen Cedar Golf Club in Claremont. Committee

TURKEY ROLL & REUNION - FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 2010 On the last Friday of every November, alumni gather in the school’s gymnasium for an evening that includes reconnecting with former classmates and teachers, as well as to play various charity casino games including the famous “turkey spin”. The evening begins with mass held in the Chapel and it is asked that attendees bring a nonperishable food item to help support the Student Government’s Christmas Food Drive. There is lots of great food throughout the night and St. Michael’s College School encourages alumni of all ages to come back!
