Robin Roberts ‘83 (left), a standout in women's basketball at Southeastern before assuming a career in television that has included spots on ESPN and as co-host of ABC’s Good Morning America, was one of seven former NCAA student-athletes who were named recipients of the 2008 NCAA Silver Anniversary Award at the 43rd annual NCAA Honors Celebration in Nashville.

Willie Amakye ‘86 - A former 800-meter national record holder for Ghana and a two-time Olympian. Pursued an acting career with movie roles in Amistad, Congo, Kicking and Screaming and TV appearances in X-Files, JAG, 227 and According to Jim Christine Amertil '00 - Three-time Olympian for her native Bahamas, finished seventh in the 400-meter dash at the 2004 Athens Games. Dr. Fanancy Anzalone ‘77 - Retired in 2006 as one of the United States Navy's top medical administrators. Is now the Miami Area Medical Administrator for American Airlines, overseeing more than 9,000 employees in an area that encompasses the eastern U.S., Caribbean, and Central and South America. Coletta Barrett ‘91 - Vice president of policy development and research for the Louisiana Hospital Association. Steve Bellas ‘70 - Has worked extensively in both radio and television for over 30 years. His stories have aired on CNN, NBC, and the BBC.

Paul Candies ‘62 - President and Chief Operating Officer of Otto Candies, LLC of Des Allemands, La. Russell Carollo ‘80 - Pulitzer Prize Winning Author and recipient of the Gerald R. Ford Prize for Distinguished Reporting on the National Defense, and the Society of Professional Journalists' national award for investigative reporting. Andre Coudrain ‘79 - Board member of the University of Louisiana System, the governing board of Southeastern and the largest university system in Louisiana. Is the Hammond city attorney and serves as the chief legal advisor to the mayor of Hammond.
