Ralph Korte Stadium/Bob Guelker Field Ralph Korte Stadium was first used in 1994 as the site of the track and field events for the U.S. Olympic Festival-’94. It has since been the site of numerous local, regional, state, national and international soccer as well as track and field events. SIUE’s Korte Stadium recently completed a renovation with state-of-the-art artificial grass in 2009.
The field was named after Robert (Bob) Guelker who passed away after the 1985 season. Guelker, who was an Olympic coach, led SIUE to two national titles, including the first Division II title in 1972 and the University’s first NCAA Division I crown in 1979.
