PLUMS are our favourite way to enjoy the taste of this beautiful season – so much so that we named this whole section after them! Another lovely thing about autumn: COSY KNITS. This issue is your perfect guide to making these at home – it’s easier than you think! Wrapped up in your warmest clothes, a wonderful walk can brighten the mood, especially if you’re wearing amazing (and comfortable!) shoes like the ones from the stylish new ara SEAMLESS-COLLECTION with their flawless shape. We asked 12 bloggers to test the new SEAMLESS-shoes on a beautiful day out by the lake and documented their adventures for your reading pleasures. The colour purple is part of every section of this sisterMAG issue and pops up in every way you can imagine. sisterMAG contributor Christian Naethler found out more about pop legend Prince and the phenomenon that is PURPLE RAIN and explains how this colour even repaired a whole bridge. Our favourite autumn fruit? Plums – in abundance. The lilac delicacies are not only a treat, but you also make for a great cooking and baking ingredient. Food expert Mademoiselle Poirot has shared her three dearest plum recipes with us, making this rainy season considerably nicer. 39
ROAST CHICKEN LEGS WITH PLUMS, RED WINE & HONEY

Buttered
PLUM JUICE
✛✛ 400g plums ✛✛ 800ml water ✛✛ 3 tbsp. sugar
1. Cut
the plums in half and remove the pits.
2. Put
the plum halves in a cooking pot. Add water and sugar.
3. Bring
everything to a boil and simmer for 6 minutes.
4. Place
the lid on the pot and let the plums cool down.
»HOT« BUTTER
5. Put
✛✛ 200g soft brown sugar ✛✛ 120g butter
the plums and water in a blender and to turn into a puree.
6. Pour the puree through a fine sieve.
The plum juice is done.
✛✛ 1 tsp. ground cinnamon ✛✛ 1/4 tsp. ground carnation
1. Mix
all the ingredients in a mixer until creamy.
2. Put

THE EASIEST AND FASTEST WAY IS IN A MIXER
1. Preheat
the oven to 180C.
2. Wash the plums, halve, and remove
the pits. 3. Grease a baking pan with the butter. 4. Place
✛✛ 400g plums ✛✛ 80g ground hazelnuts ✛✛ 80g sugar ✛✛ 4 eggs ✛✛ 150ml milk ✛✛ 150ml cream ✛✛ 1 tsp. ground cinnamon ✛✛ butter for the pan
the plums in the pan (with the open side facing down).
5. Add
the eggs, milk, and cream to the mixer and mix.
6. Add
the ground hazelnuts, sugar, and cinnamon.
7. Mix
for only about 5 more seconds.
8. Now
add the entire mix into the baking pan.
9. Place
in oven and bake for about 45-50 minutes. Serve hot.

1. Mix the honey, mustard, and red wine.

5. Mix
✛✛ 100ml red wine ✛✛ 1 small bundle of fresh thyme ✛✛ 2 tbsp. olive oil ✛✛ Salt and pepper
the chicken thighs in a bowl and add the red wine mixture. cool for one hour. the oven to 200C.
the onion eighths wand plum halves with the olive oil and spread in a roasting pan.
6. Season
with salt and pepper and add the leaves of approx. one bunch of thyme.
7. Put
the chicken thighs on top.
8. Add red wine mixture and roast in the
oven for approx. 40 Minutes. 9. Serve

My name is Genevieve, I am 32 years old and I grew up in Montreal, Canada. I am the product and innovation manager at aveato. We are a business catering company, based in Berlin with additional kitchens in Hamburg, Cologne, Frankfurt, and Munich. Here in Berlin, we also have management and sales. HOW WOULD YOU DESCR IBE YOUR JOB AND TASKS AT AVEATO?
I would say that I'm both an evangelist and a manager, which means that I develop concepts and new ideas for recipes or changes in our offers. I am basically here to keep us young, trendy and dynamic as well as to share my gastronomic vision with all our five kitchens. I also travel to all of them regularly to manage and maintain our quality standards by staying true to recipes, to present our new dishes and their stories, to train colleagues on new recipes, to maintain a close connection with all of our ambassadors and to support some team building for our company.
CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT MOR E ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND? WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO BER LIN?
I went to hotel school in Canada and worked in France for a summer afterwards. I really enjoyed the experience of being an expat and living abroad. Back in Montreal, I started working at Sofitel hotel where I stayed for eight years. But after a while, I was looking for something new and decided to trade comfort for adventure. I wanted to come back to Europe, and since liked the free spirit and dynamics of Berlin, I decided to pack my suitcase and just came there.

Luckily, I found an apartment pretty quickly and I took German classes for about three months, but when I started looking for a job, things got complicated. HOW DID YOU END UP IN YOUR JOB AT AVEATO, THEN?
The chef, who was here at the time, had worked in New Zealand and spoke very good English, which helped since my German was not that good yet. After lots of Âťno,ÂŤ

he offered me a job as an assistant cook which I accepted. However, after about a year I really started to miss cooking, and during a company dinner, I asked my boss if I could just do it. He was skeptical at first, but put me in charge of the desserts and cold appetizers. Slowly, slowly he started trusting me a little more and also let me cook warm things. The founders realized as well that my food was different, and we started to develop the position I hold today. I took a lot of little steps, but eventually, all worked out.

Absolutely, especially when I have to come up with a new concept for a specific new dish (such as a soup) and I just don’t feel inspired at that point. But now I note down ideas whenever they come to me all year now, which helps me to be prepared for when I need them. HOW DO YOUR STRUCTUR E YOUR DAY. WHAT IS PART OF YOUR DAILY ROUTINES?
I always spend one to two hours on my bicycle each day on the way to work and back. That gives me time to think and I feel pumped
HOW WOULD YOU DESCR IBE YOUR STYLE OF COOKING AND WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL?
Oftentimes, I am influenced by my travels and like to bring inspiration from abroad to very thematic dishes. I also like mixing textures; if you have something soft, I will combine it with something crispy. when I get to the office. Then, I go on with my management tasks in the morning at my desk. In the afternoon, however, I plan and try new recipes so I get to spend a lot of time in the kitchen. I took a while to develop that structure as my position previously did not exist, but I think that we have found out how it works best for us now. I know it still pains him, but he is very happy with my work, so he is
I am pretty sure that everything I have on my desk has to be there. ;) But I absolutely couldn’t go without my cookbooks and my lactose pills (to try creations with dairy products). In the kitchen, I have a mini scale that I always take with me and even got in trouble with it once at the airport in Munich. And I always have my old cooking knife from hotel school which is just perfect for me.

APPLE CRUMB CAKE TRAY BAKE Ingredients 110g butter, softened and cut into cubes (extra to grease the tin) • 100g light brown sugar • ½ tsp. vanilla extract • ½ tsp. salt • 1 tsp. baking powder • 200g plain flour • 140ml milk • 2 large apples, cored, peeled, and sliced • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon For the streusel (crumb) 100g light brown sugar • 100g plain flour • 100g butter, softened cut into cubes
1. Grease a shallow baking tray with butter and pre-heat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan). 2. Place the butter, sugar, vanilla and salt to a mixer or cream together in a bowl with a wooden spoon until you have a smooth consistency. Add the baking powder and mix, followed by alternating the flour and milk until everything is combined.

Make the crumb topping by rubbing together the flour and butter until you have a breadcrumb texture, add vanilla extract, sugar and cinnamon.

Leave to cool completely on a rack or serve warm.

After a short while he did anyway – and I could suddenly ride all by myself! It is this particular moment that I still recall – our garden, my little bicycle, and my summer dress. I, however, don’t remember how I actually learned bike riding. Just like I don’t remember how I learned swallowing, speaking, or walking. This is because these actions belong to the category of tacit knowledge. Tacit knowledge is the kind of knowledge that is difficult to transfer to another person by means of writing it down or verbalising it. It’s simply knowledge you possess without knowing why or how.

Authors of these books tried - with detailed instructions and drawings - to demystify the technique of knitting. It is however assumable, that girls (and a few boys) had usually learned knitting at school or at home already. These books therefore served as further education. AT THAT TIME, KNITTING HAD BECOME AN OCCUPATION USED TO TEACH GIRLS AND WOMEN VIRTUES AND MODERATION. They
were expected to stay at home, produce something useful without being employed (which was then taboo) and keep their minds off any possible debaucheries. According to these dogmas, knitting books of that time burst with moral obligations. If a woman didn’t knit or sew at home she was considered lazy and at odds with public decency. Every book contained a foreword in which the author admonished the reader to be industrious and obedient – virtues all combined in no better activity than knitting. SISTER-MAG.COM
Knitting is uncomplicated enough to be fun, and adequately demanding in order not to get boring. A very useful means, therefore, of keeping women quiet - especially as there were far more than just socks to knit. In the 19th century, a great variety of beautifully designed magazines appeared containing knitting, sewing and crocheting instructions. Large with wonderful graphics and model drawings, they encouraged women to produce numerous (often useless) items. Not only were there tons of bags, hats and tablecloths, but also egg bags, foot covers and little bags for threads and cut-offs. The highquality magazines as well as the pretty crafts in them tempted the customer and crafter into buying, browsing and imitating. Thus both magazine and crafted item became a must-have and mustdo; a reward for eye, hand and mind – and a well-camouflaged ideology. In the beginning of the 20th century, women began to defend themselves against the female obligations of the time. They

left their homes, took up sports, established associations and fought for their rights to vote. As a result, the moralising remarks in the knitting books gradually diminished. Magazines that once only featured craft topics, now also dealt with political and societal subjects. Knitted items become more practical, looser, and more comfortable. In addition, the two World Wars brought an end to the innocence of knitting. EFFICIENT WOMEN KNITTED WARM CLOTHES FOR THEIR MEN AT THE FRONT AND WERE ECONOMICAL WITH THEIRS. In the pages of 1940s
Vogue, you could learn to unravel old pullovers and knit new ones from the wool, if you so wished.
Who would want to give up style just because of war? In the post-war period, knitted fashion was no longer in demand but by the 1970s, the natural homespun look had become fashionable and knitting was popular once more. IN THE GDR
ESPECIALLY,
CRAFTING
BECAME A HUGE TREND. Stylish
clothes were hard to come by and everyone walked around in the same clothes, prompting the rise of DIY. There were a few GDR magazines that contained crafting instructions as well as requests made to the female reader to produce something for practical - as well as aesthetic - purposes. The message was

clear: use your spare time wisely, thank you very much! One of the most famous magazines of the period was Pramo (a German abbreviation for practical fashion). It contained a lot of removable patterns and instructions. At that time, photographs were used for the first time to show the knitters’ hands and the wool in detail. When compared with the drawings of the last century, these did little to further the cause. The fact of the matter remains that no text, drawing or photograph can teach knitting as well as a real person. This is once more proved by the SISTER-MAG.COM
knitting video tutorials, which can be found on countless video portals, blogs and websites. These tutorials are living proof of skill sharing. As often and whenever they like, users can watch their own private teacher - ideally only his/her hands and viewed from his/her perspective. Digital media hence encourages the popularity of analogue pursuits. Craft fans, it seems, spend as much time seated in front of their computer screens as they do with their craft projects. The virtual and the tactile appear to now coexist in a 21st century symbiosis of sorts. In

addition to the videos, the users happily propagate ecological and individualistic messages. KEEN KNITTERS ARE OFTEN SEEN TO BE CREATIVE IDEALISTS WHO ABHOR MASS PRODUCTION AND CHEAP LABOUR.
If you take a closer look at the texts, images, and videos about knitting in the past decades and centuries, you may notice they are a lot more than technical instructions. They become - in accordance with the particular social context - guidelines for life or even for making it right. Knitting is one thing. Regardless of whether it is taught by a person, book, or video, it is quickly internalised and performed as a natural, physical

act. More often than not, there is usually a secondary purpose behind the act. Whether people knit in order to earn a living, to subordinate to the patriarchal society, or to make an individualistic-ecological statement, there is no other craft that has been charged with as many connotations as knitting - in the instructions as well as the practice. An instruction is an instruction is an instruction but it is worth searching for the secondary, hidden meaning behind age-old pastimes. Not to worry, though – these little manipulations are mostly harmless.Â

An interview with Marisa from »Maschenfein« MARISA 38 years old, from Berlin
is the brains behind the blog and knitting shop »Maschenfein «. Working from her little office in her conservatory, she has also written these three books: • Knitting scarves • Knitting – loop after loop (Basics) • Knitting more scarves ORDER HERE (IN GERMAN)
What is Maschenfein?
»Maschenfein« is my blog as well as my wool- and knittingshop. When I started Maschenfein in 2014, I only wanted to write a couple of tutorials here and there, but then it turned into the bigger shop with instructions, wool and other equipment it is today.
What inspired you to start this business? I learned to knit when I was a young girl but somehow lost this creative streak of mine when I grew up. At Uni, I studied economy and finances and only got back to working creatively after a blow of fate. Knitting

fascinated me because it’s such an inherently mathematical process. Developing knitting instructions is a very analytical thing which captured my attention.
How did you start Maschenfein? After founding the blog, I wanted to give myself some time to generate traffic, write tutorials and get things started. Shortly after this, a start-up from Scandinavia asked me to oversee their German social media channels, which I did as a freelancer. But I continued working on my blog which basically was my ticket to the world of knitting.

I usually start with the yarn. If it feels nice enough that I immediately want to start knitting a gauge and have hundreds of ideas, I start looking for available colours and start planning.

How did you find your »testknitters«? It all started on Facebook. Today, we have a group of over 7.000 people who try out new models and test my tutorials.

support each other’s projects. The meetings are always a huge inspiration because everyone brings their newest projects. I’m not always there, though.
What advice would you give a knitting-newbie? The best way to start is usually to find a friend or a helpful shop assistant who can show you the very first steps. After that, books with good pictures and YouTube are a great source to learn more refined techniques.

»Having two young children is no easy feat. This is especially true when there is a small age gap – 17 months. You hardly get to rest. The last two years were particularly turbulent. In the summer of 2015, I parted ways with my partner. Since then, we have been a trio. The first months were hellishly exhausting. I slept too little, ate too little, and consumed too much coffee. »Timeouts are very important to me, though I rarely reward myself with a break. Sometimes I find it difficult to turn off, even at home. I'm lying on the sofa and just want to do nothing, but then I often get a guilty conscience as I could, for example, Instagram. I have to slow myself down or even force myself to put my phone away and give myself a timeout – if only a short one.« The last year was probably the most exhausting one of her life. Her boyfriend André also became self-employed as a blogger, and in a very short time. This decision meant sleepless nights for the couple, as well as a move to a large apartment, which invited a financial burden. »When I was training as a hotel specialist and later worked in sales and marketing, it was unthinkable to wear sneakers for work. We had to wear chic ladies' shoes that matched the work uniform. I remember that we worked for up to 10 hours, not sitting for a minute and running from one table to the next, always with a smile, at big events. I often hobbled home in the evening and massaged my aching feet. When I took maternal leave, my wardrobe changed visibly. Costumes, pantsuits and chic shoes wandered ever deeper into the wardrobe. Our clothes are like a second skin. They are supposed to make us look good and to keep us warm when it’s cold. But first of all, they should be comfortable and fit like a glove. Because they consist of pieces of cloth that are sewn together, they have some flaws: the seams. Depending on how neat the work was and which material was used, the seams are more or less coarse. And if they are on unfavourable places, they can cause unpleasant pressure marks on the skin. This especially applies for underwear and socks, e.g. for clothes that are in direct contact with the body. The slip that rubs on the hip with every step might be bearable. But it gets more difficult with the sock that leaves a painful blister on the sole after taking a walk. Also on clothes that are above that, like sweaters,

pants or shoes, seams can easily be irritating as well.

What’s more is that the junctions are more vulnerable to damages. Sure, thin threads that keep two pieces of cloth together rip easier that the cloth itself. Especially in tight clothes, the sewing thread is always stretched, and it’s only a matter of time until it yields to the pressure. If that happens with the bikini at the beach or the yoga pants in the gym, you need a low boundary of shame. Seams in shoes have another disadvantage: They are the place where rain or dew get into the shoe and make the feet wet.

In order to dodge the deficiencies of seams, an interesting production method has been gaining ground for some time: the seamless technology. Its products largely waive places where pieces of cloth are sewn together. For many pieces of clothes, however, some tricks are used. For them, the seams are shifted to places where they can’t be seen – and, most of all, where they don’t bother when the clothes are worn. Often, circular knitting machines are used to produce seamless clothes. With them, the needles are not arranged in a line – like in flat knitting machines – but in the form of a ring. Instead of a flat cloth, yarn or wool is manufactured into

tubes that are processed into pieces of clothing afterwards. Underpants are cut out of the tubular cloth, for a t-shirt, the sleeves are attached with unremarkable seams. Shirts coming from a circular knitting machine can be recognized by the lack of seams on the sides.

With more complex clothes like jackets, another method of producing without seams has to be used. With them, the individual parts, like the back and the hood, are not sewn together but interweaved finely. Normally, thicker material is used for these positions to make them more

tear-resistant. With seamless shoes, the production without seams mostly affects the area of the forefoot. It’s normally achieved by connecting the outer material directly to the inner lining. This results in a high wearing comfort because there are no seams that can rub on the feet.
Clothes FROM THE PRINTER For several years, a number companies has been trying to transfer the possibilities of 3D printing to clothes in order to create seamless fashion. The idea itself is fantastic: Instead of searching in the shop for hours and trying on lots of clothes, a 3D model of your body is created and used to print your clothes. They

surely will fit. And for the next shopping … well … 3D printing tour, the data is already present in the store. Companies like Change of Paradigm¹ and Freedom of Creation² that was acquired by 3D Systems research possibilities to make the vision a reality. The problem is (still) the cloth. There is still no nanomaterial that can be put together as a substitute for cotton and that feels pleasant on the skin.
Seamless S PORTS Nanotechnology is already present in a field where seamless clothes are especially in demand: sports. There, the technology is used to make clothes more resistant against abrasion and staining – for example, by including silver

ions into the cloth to minimize perspiration. Lacking seams are at least as useful since the body is always moving while running, jumping or climbing – which causes permanent friction. And if underwear, socks, t-shirts, sports pants, or shoes have seams where there should be none, the light friction can easily become an annoying irritation – especially in combination with the heated skin and sweat. And in particularly dramatic cases, there is blood during longlasting sports sessions, and the affected skin area hurts for an extended time. Seamless clothes, on the other hand, is tight and flows around the body, doesn’t scratch and, in the best case, is not palpable. Just like a second skin ...

The effects of the sea
We immediately recognise the effects of the sea on our psyche. Now, the sea and its inhabitants also offer us the ingredients for medicines. Sponges, mussels, fungi, snails, and algae produce substances that are or will become important in oncology, dermatology, and even surgery. The antiviral substance Acyclovir, for example, stems from a sea sponge. The wellknown group of antibiotics called Cephalosporine is present in mould fungi – among others from a marine variety discovered off the Sardinian coast(2). The sea performs immense tasks, regulates the climate, is uniquely suitable

for transporting large loads over long distances, and has always been the foundation for the exploration of distant lands and continents. Not many of us have forgotten how we enjoyed hearing the amazing stories of the great seafarers who conquered the dangers of the Atlantic and Pacific to fulfil the human promise of also ruling over this part of the earth. Seas and oceans cover 71% of the earth’s surface, and therefore provide us with ample beaches to relish all those unique benefits already mentioned. The cities of Cincinnati, Ohio and Newport, Kentucky are connected in many ways, but there’s one that certainly stands out: The Purple People Bridge. While technically known as the Newport Southbank Bridge, there’s good reason locals and visitors alike most commonly refer to it by its nickname. Discover how a bold change of colour for a 147-year-old steel bridge revived a region’s waterfront to make it truly for the people.
Nine bridges span the Ohio River in and around Cincinnati, connecting Ohio’s third most populous city with the cities of Newport and Covington, Kentucky. While each unique in their own regard, one is particularly eye-catching: The Purple People Bridge. One glance at the 813-metre-long truss structure gives credence to its moniker. But it wasn’t always purple, nor for the people. Originally known as the Newport Cincinnati Bridge, it opened on April 1, 1872 to serve railroad traffic that otherwise was forced to terminate in Covington with no connection to Cincinnati on the other side of the river. This was in no small part thanks to
the stubbornness of Covington’s then-mayor, who wanted his city to remain the railroad line’s terminus. When he denied construction of the bridge, the neighbouring city of Newport stepped up to lend its shore as the crossing point for the Louisville, Cincinnati, and Lexington Railroad into Cincinnati. Twenty-five years later saw the first significant renovations to the bridge. A horse and cart path, as well as streetcar tracks, were built in 1897, and in 1904 it was renamed the L&N (Louisville & Nashville) Railroad Bridge. This name would stick for almost a century, until 2003. With its most industrious period

well behind, the bridge took on a more civic duty at the turn of the millennium. Years of neglect after rail operations ceased in 1987 had relegated the bridge into a state of disrepair, the extent of which threatened it with demolition. In April of 2001, the bridge was recognized under the National Register of Historic Places by the federal government, once again bestowing it a degree of prestige. Most importantly, it mobilized interest in restoring the bridge. Just a half a year later, the bridge was permanently closed to car traffic and a local economic development group committed $4 million USD of state funds to breathing new life into the rusted husk of former glory. It would reopen in May of 2013 as a pedestrian-only bridge with a striking new coat of purple paint. Again it changed names, thereafter known as the Newport Southbank Bridge – but only technically.

As outrageous the choice of colour may have been at the time, it’s hard to imagine a better fit. But how did the consensus on purple come to be? While a decision on the bridge’s purpose was mostly unilateral on behalf of its developers, many focus groups were enlisted to

give feedback on the colour. Computer-generated images presented them with previews of how it would look in all colours of the rainbow. Options included equally outlandish palettes like and white, and even a rust colour was on the table. Green and purple emerged as the two primary colour candidates, with one volunteer of the development group, Ted Bushelman, endorsing the
latter based on research he had done for his master thesis on the psychology of colour when colour televisions were becoming domestic staples in the early 1960s. »Seeing is as much in the brain as it is in the eye. I redid some of my research and gave the information to Southbank,« Bushelman said. »Purple is a good color for public consumption. If you paint a room purple, it can drive you crazy. But

it looks good on something like a bridge.« And so it was decided. The President of Southbank heeded Bushelman’s recommendation and adorned it with the standout hue it boasts today. Plenty of studies have confirmed the colour’s congeniality. Purple has been described as evoking feelings of calm and refreshment. The release of »Purple Rain« in 1984 introduced the whole world to his music. He even acted in a same-titled film. Prince reigned over all things entertainment for decades, but he also had a lasting impact on something not many artists can claim: colour. This is how Prince became The Purple One. 1. The title of Prince’s sixth studio album, »Purple Rain,« is widely regarded as one of the most important works in pop culture, an irreplicable record that featured two chart-toppers, earned a double Grammy win, and elevated the Minneapolis, Minnesota native’s name alongside the likes of Madonna and Michael Jackson. A movie of the same name coincided with the album’s release, which, despite effectively signalling both the start and end of Prince’s film career on account of questionable acting, drew its own $80 million USD box office fandom. But »Purple Rain« is much more than the title of a hugely successful work of music and film. It’s a vibe: melodramatic, melancholic, alluring and ambiguous, much like the singer himself. The album’s lyrics weave through all manners of emotion on five tracks, and there’s plenty to suggest his love for lavender is as strong a symbol of his ethos as the words themselves. While

Prince never directly explained the title, he once hinted at an apocalyptic undertone to his purple precipitation:
»Wh e n t h e re ' s blood in the sky – red and blue = purple... purple rain pertains to the end of the world and being with the one you love and letting y o u r f a i t h /g o d guide you through the purple rain.« There could be more to it, of course. Or less. That’s the beauty of interpreting such an enigmatic work. Purple has historically been associated with royalty, luxury, creativity, and mystery. The association couldn’t be more fitting. Indeed, Prince was music royalty, casting a purple reign over pop music for a further 33 studio albums. Other interpretations of the name suggest a longing SISTER-MAG.COM
for someone who cannot be satisfied – perhaps a selfreference? Maybe it was an arbitrary fascination, though no one dares to reduce such a defining aspect Prince’s aura to mere whim. If Picasso’s »The Greedy Child« served as an entry to his Blue Period, Prince’s »Purple Rain« was the gateway to decades of dark violet. He would become known as The Purple One, playing spectacular purple guitars in lavish lavender suits complete with matching neckties, feather boas, and fedoras. And who could forget that purple swag? Power, ambition, grandeur, pride, and magic – attributes of both the colour and the legend himself. The Purple One passed away on April 21, 2016 at the age of 57, his star in front of Minneapolis’ First Avenue nightclub adorned by balloons and candles in all shades of purple in the immediate hours after the news spread. His legacy already solidified, it has only magnified since. The week of Prince’s death, »Purple Rain« re-charted on the Billboard

It was designed to reflect the colour of Prince’s custom-made Yamaha purple piano, a stunning instrument of grape grandeur that Prince planned to tour with before his untimely death. An advisor of Prince’s estate said: »T h e c o l o u r p u r p l e was synonymous with who Prince was and will always be. This is an incredible way for his legacy to live o n f o r e v e r. « Music, film, culture, and colour – we may never again see an artist that’s left us with so many eternal legacies.
