Wine Quiz Dinner
This is just one of the ideas we have to make your party a little bit different. Let us tailor make a special evening based around a wine or champagne tasting We will provide you with tasting notes on a choice of wines – we can focus on a particular country or as it’s the festive season you may like to taste a variety of sparkling wines and champagnes. Then the fun begins! The person who correctly matches the wines to the tasting notes in a blind tasting will win a prize. The price will depend on the wines you choose to taste, in conjunction with our Cellar Master, and we will allow sufficient for drinking – so not just a sip and spit event! Perhaps you’d better book overnight accommodation for everyone… 4
For ladies who lunch, office outings and meeting old friends we are serving seasonal food at all our restaurants throughout December. It’s recommended that large table reservations should be made in advance. Why not snatch a few minutes away from it all and call in to the Cavendish Pavilion to try out the new hot drinks – teas, coffees and hot chocolates. It’s the perfect antidote to Christmas shopping mania - a leisurely walk along the riverbank followed by a caffé latte with Christmas cake and all those last minute presents may be found in the gift shop next door.

The Devonshire Fell Christmas Eve - Wednesday 24th December Season’s Greetings and welcome to The Devonshire Fell in the heart of glorious Wharfedale surrounded by stunning scenery. Enjoy excellent hospitality in relaxed comfort with delicious food, fine wines and festive fun. Arrive in time for afternoon tea around 4.00 pm and to settle in, put your feet up and enjoy one of our glossy mags. After a long soak with our tempting toiletries join us for champagne and canapés at 7.00 pm with local traditional entertainers. Candlelit dinner. Midnight Mass is celebrated at St Cuthbert's Church, just five minutes' walk, and we will be serving a choice of hot chocolate, tea or coffee on your return. Christmas Day - Thursday 25th December After a leisurely breakfast perhaps a stroll along the riverbank returning for champagne and canapés in the Bar followed by a fabulous Christmas Day Luncheon which is served at 1.00 pm. The Devonshire Fell Tuesday 30th December Arrive to a very warm welcome and with time to relax before joining us for a welcome glass of champagne and candlelit dinner from 7.00 pm Wednesday 31st December Enjoy breakfast overlooking the valley, served between 8.00 and 10.00 am A light lunch is served from 12 noon until 2.00 pm. For those who would like to explore the countryside on foot we offer a range of walking maps - some are just a gentle stroll along the riverbank whilst others offer more challenging hill walks and we're just a short drive to Malham Cove with its famous limestone pavement. Return in time for a hot soak and prepare for our glamourous evening. Champagne and canapés are served in the Bar at 7.00 pm. A delicious Gourmet Dinner and Dance starts at 7.30 pm, welcoming in the New Year at midnight. Thursday 1st January Brunch is served from 9.00 am until 11.00 am allowing you plenty of time to recover after the previous evening's festivities. You can enjoy free access to the facilities of the Bolton Abbey Estate and Devonshire Health Spa. Dinner is served as normal in the Conservatory Restaurant and Bistro. Come and enjoy a short break over the New Year with long walks on the Chatsworth Estate and leisurely dining in either the original inn or contemporary Brasserie. There are eight lovely rooms from which to choose - four are in the original inn and four are in Brookside, just next door. All are well equipped and individually designed under the direction of The Duchess of Devonshire and have been chosen for the Best Pub Rooms award by Alastair Sawday guides.
