2012 Mesa Community College Women's Soccer Head Coach Drew Guarneri Drew Guarneri enters his fifth year as the Head Coach of both the Mesa Community College men’s and women’s soccer programs. Guarneri established the men's soccer program at Chandler-Gilbert Community College in 1998 and coached through the 2006 season. He also coached the women at CGCC from 2000 through 2006. His teams produced three All-Americans, four Academic All-Americans, and one National Team Award for Academics. He was named ACCAC Men's Coach of the Year in 2003 and ACCAC Women's Coach of the Year in 2004. He also was Phoenix Women's Sports Association Coach of the Year in 2005. Guarneri has also coached a multitude of squads in the Gilbert Soccer Club since 1995, and has a great deal of playing experience. He competed while attending Butler University in 1989, at Drake University from 1990-1993, with the Des Moines Menace of the USISL in 1993, the Arizona Sahuaros, a D3 Pro League team in 2000, and finally, the Banat Arsenal, a competitive adult league team from 2001-2007. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at Drake University in 1993, and a Masters of Science in Public Programs and Recreation Management from Arizona State in 1996..

2012 Mesa Community College Women's Soccer Assistant Coaches Assistant Coach Anthony Presnell

Anthony Presnell enters his third season as an assistant coach with the men’s and women’s soccer programs at Mesa Community College. In addition to coaching at Mesa, Presnell is the Varsity Boys Head Coach at Red Mountain High School, coaches several teams with Gilbert Arsenal Soccer Club and is the Assistant Director of the Arsenal Youth Academy where he is in charge of the curriculum development. He's also a staff coach with the Arizona Olympic Development Program. Presnell graduated from Northern Arizona University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing. While at NAU he founded the NAU Men’s Soccer Club, now a self-sustaining non-profit interscholastic sports program with over 200 members. He also coached various age groups with Flagstaff Soccer Club, assisted with the Flagstaff High School Girls Soccer program during their state championship year of 2007, and was an assistant with the Coconino High School Boys Soccer team in 2009. Presnell holds a USSF “C” License, and was the 2011-12 Mesa All-City Boys High School Coach of the Year.

Goalkeeper Coach Jorge Galdamez

A native of El Salvador, Jorge Galdamez has extensive soccer coaching and playing experience both in his homeland, as well as the United States. Galdamez, who earned a Bachelors' degree in Computer Science from UCIrvine in 1998, grew up in Newport Beach, Calif. Prior to coming to the U.S. he played for El Salvador's national youth teams and then played five years for FAS in that country and served two years at the National Academy Camp for the national team. Galdamez has been coaching youth soccer for over 15 years, including five years with the Olympic Development Program in Southern California. Along with his duties at Mesa he coaches the Gilbert Soccer Club and is the goalkeeper trainer.

2012 Mesa Community College Women's Soccer Assistant Coaches Assistant Coach Matt Horton

A graduate of Mesa Community College, and former player, Matt Horton joins the soccer coaching staff for the first time. Horton played for the Thunderbirds in 2010 and 2011 after a three-year playing career at nearby Apache Junction High School. He has coached at Cactus Canyon Junior High School as well as an assistant girls coach at Apache Junction.

Assistant Coach Brian Ronan

Brian Ronan, a former player at Mesa Community College, has joined the MCC soccer coaching staff. As a player, Ronan set the single-season assist record of 13 in 2001. That mark still stands. He went on to play at Grand Canyon University and played for the semi-pro Arizona Saguaros, a team that won the Soccer and Professional Development League national championship. Along with his duties at MCC, Ronan is the head coach of the Gilbert Soccer Club. He has also previously coached at Mountain View High School in Mesa with the girls' program as well as with the Mesa Soccer Club. He holds USSF C and D Licenses. Ronan graduated from Grand Canyon with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Philosophy.

Goalkeeper Coach Bryan Gerard Bryan Gerard joins the Mesa staff after a year as goalkeeper coach at Scottsdale Community College. He played two seasons at Kansas Wesleyan and has had experience on the field at several local clubs including San Tan, AZFC, Scottsdale Blackhawks and Arsenal. Went to training camp with the Puerto Rico Islanders, a member of the Premier Division of the SUASL. He began his coaching career as Director of Goalkeeping for the San Tan Legacy, where he still coaches. He has also worked with the Valparaiso Futball Club, Hamilton High School, the SoccerPlus Goalkeeper School and gives private lessons. Gerard trained under Tony DiCicco, head coach of the 1999 USA World Cup championshp team. He has a national "E" license.

Paige Andrews was born May 28, 1994 in San Diego, Calif. She is a Nutrition major and the daughter of Mike and Kelly Andrews. She has one sister, Lauren, 15.

Scored a goal and had one assist while taking 13 shots for the T-Birds. Guarneri sees her as a key component in 2012 and will be a captain.

First team Group 4A midfielder in 2010 and team captain as a senior. Played for coaches Leonel Camacho and Diane Sherwood. Also played basketball helping the Broncos to a state championship and state runner up finishes.

Taylor Rae Bennett-Begaye was born May 11, 1993 in Kirtland, N.M. She is a Digital Art major and the daughter of Linda Bennett-Begaye and Norm Begaye. Has a sister Jordan Bennett-Begaye, 22 who played one year of volleyball at Eastern Arizona.

PERSONAL Allie Budge was born Oct. 28, 1992 in Mesa, AZ. The Psychology major is the daughter of Steve and Michelle Budge. She has a sister Madelyn, 7 and three brothers, Harrison, 21; Kennedy, 14 and Garrett, 10. She's a lifeguard and swim teacher.

Defensive Player of the Year and first team all-region as a senior, as well as team captain, for coach Meyers. The Eagles won the state 4AII championship. USMC Athlete of the Year and state champion in her freshman year. A member of the National Honor Society.

Miranda Farr was born March 13, 1994 in Fallen, Nev. The Kinesiology major is the daughter of Don Farr and Angelique Jaramillo. Has a sister Dononique, 20 and a brother Damion, 25. Volunteers at her church and works at Subway.

A very hard worker. AT Blue Ridge The Yellow Jackets won three state championships, from 200709, and she was honorable mention in 2009. Team captain as a senior. A member of the Mayor's Youth Advisory Committee. PERSONAL Katy Gillespie was born June 9, 1993 in Tucson, AZ. She is majoring in Kinesiology and is the daughter of Michael and Donna Gillespie. Has two brothers, James, 27 and Douglas, 26. Worked at Pinetop-Lakeside Parks and Rec events as well as at the Red Devil Italian Restaurant and Christopher's Gardens. Volunteered with Big Brothers/Big Sisters.

A first team all-region selection as a junior and senior as well as second team all-region in her first two years playing for coach Dominico Scafaria. A member of Sempra Fedilis and the Music Honor Society. Also participated in CCL, the Skylights, the marching band and concert band.

Elise Griego was born Dec. 18, 1992 in Mesa, AZ. She is a Creative Writing major and the daughter of Charles and Elaine Griego. She has two sisters, Mia, 22 and Anissa, 16. Volunteered at the David Montono Basketball Camp and works at Sports Authority.

Hailey Huffman was born July 26, 1994 in Las Vegas, Nev. She is a Kinesiology major and the daughter of Ed and Alicia Barela. Has a sister Emalie, 5, as well as two brothers, Austin, 12 and Zane, 5. Has coached in her town's Recreation Department.

Worked with Best Buddies, was a tutor and assistant coach at Highland Junior High School. She has also been a Nanny and worked in a bookstore.
