Notes

Welcome! It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to our 2009 bull offering! The bull selection this year is one of the most consistent and complete set of bulls we have ever raised. They really do Crank It Up with their performance, depth, width, and eye appeal. We’ve always believed that you don’t have to sacrifice looks to get performance, and these guys prove it. They will make some noise! With the addition of Klint’s facilities next door, we are now able to house our bulls at one ranch and give them the attention they deserve. Klint and Galen have made a decision to keep the cow herd to 50 bred females. This has made our culling process difficult, but has resulted in a very consistent, powerful set of calves. 2008 has proven to be a roller coaster year for the cattle industry, but it has proven that pounds make the difference! These bulls are designed to add the extra pounds on to your calves at weaning. Due to the severe drought that hit our part of the state this past summer, the calves were weaned in late October and stayed on fall grazing until that time. Since then, the consignment bulls have been receiving Texturized feed from Woody’s, while the private treaty bulls have been receiving the same oats/corn ration we’ve used in past years. We will be selling 4 bulls at the ND Golden Rule Sale on January 26th in Mandan, and 3 bulls at the Black Hills Stock Show on February 5th in Rapid City. The remainder of the bulls listed in the catalog will be available for sale Private Treaty anytime after January 15th. This year we are also employing the services of Jeff Erhardt with Purple Haven Enterprises as our sale consultant. Jeff will be more than happy to answer any questions or assist you with any purchase arrangements. As always, all of the bulls are backed by a breeding guarantee. Feeding and transportation arrangements can be made as well. We will have ultrasound data available on the animals by the end of January. GeneStar and/or Igenity data will also be available on many of the bulls at that time. All of the information in the catalog is current as of 1/1/2009. We will post video and pictures of the animals on our website, as well as the ultrasound and DNA results when they are available. If you see something you like in the catalog, please contact Galen, Klint or Jeff. We’re always happy to visit with you about your livestock needs, and how a bull from Prairie Hills can help you achieve your goals! Sincerely, Galen & Marcia Sickler Family Klint & Maralee Sickler

Rookie has been a stand out since day 1. Exceptionally clean fronted, deep ribbed, and a quarter thatwill make your jaw drop. A 78 lb birthweight and an 846 lb weaning weight are impressive, but even more when you consider drought conditions and his first calf mother. After being named Grand Champion bull at the NILE in Billings, and the West River Livestock Show in Dickinson, he is destined for great things. Rookie will be in Denver, make sure to stop by and check him out!
