The Narrow GaTe

“Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able,” Luke 13:24. The way of salvation, that is in the LORD Jesus Christ alone, is called strait, or narrow. This is in contrast with the broad way (wide and popular) that leads to destruction, Matthew 7:13. ‘To strive,’ expresses the urgency to get to Christ as He is revealed in Scripture, against all opposition of the flesh, the world, or Satan. The many who seek to enter in and are not able are those left to their own devices, judicially blinded by God. They are not seeking to enter in through the strait gate, because they find it too narrow and exclusive. They don’t see themselves as needy sinners and therefore ignore that gate that is only for the worst of sinners, and they seek to come in over the wall, or around the gate. However, none can come in except in, by, and through the LORD Jesus Christ. It’s just that narrow. He did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to Himself, Mark 2:17. Salvation is of the LORD. The LORD Jesus said, Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me, John 14:6.
