J. Shoals Summer Technology Institute for Educators The Institute brings business leaders together with 25-30 Shoals-area middle school and high school math and science teachers and counselors. In industry tours and small group discussions, educators will see for themselves and better understand how their academic subjects are used in real jobs within the community. The educators will also tour technical programs at Northwest-Shoals Community College and learn the educational requirements for each program, and the jobs to which they lead. Summer Institute helps answer those nagging questions most teachers hear, “Why do I need to know this?" and "When will I ever use this again?" The Institute encourages teachers to see the many job opportunities available to their students, helping them guide their students toward career choices and educational pathways that are best for them.
