Terms and Conditions Liabilities:

The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of dispute the auctioneer’s decision will be final. Announcements from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.

All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The sellers, facility owner, auctioneer and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur.

Delivery:

Every assistance will be given in getting your purchases home. FREE DELIVERY. Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Bulls and females will be delivered as soon as possible after the sale. Unless other arrangments have been made.

All animals in the sale have met all necessary health requirements.

Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.

Each animal will carry papers issued by the applicable breed association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

Health:

Each animal becomes the purchaser’s risk immediately after the animal is sold. All animals in this sale will be sold under the terms and guarantees set forth by the applicable breed association with regard to health, freedom from defects and from both reproductive and specific genetic unsoundness.

Agents will be in attendance to insure your purchases. Bulls returning to the consignor’s farm must be insured.

This year’s bull offering has some middle, shape and we are confident they will go out and do the job for you. The 7G bull has left us very productive females with beautiful udders. On the polled side the 955G sons are what we expected them to be, full of muscle, meat and lots of shape. The sale heifer is the first polled female we have offered. She was a class winner at the Hereford Showcase in Red Deer this past November. I believe she will turn out as good as her mother. They are all very similar in style, shape, pigment and temperament. The bulls were on pasture graze until Oct 27 when we brought them home. With grazing this late into the fall our bulls are carrying less condition and more natural muscle. Since they have been home they are being fed barley green feed and are on rolled oats and barley chop. The weaning weights in the foot notes are actual weights taken Nov 15, 2022. We showed three head at the Alberta Hereford show case this fall in Red Deer. We had a great showing bringing home banners and ribbons with junior horned heifer calf champion, junior horned bull calf champion and reserve yearling horned bull. Our daughter Kaydee also made her first appearance in the junior show, it was great to watch her have fun and we believe she is hooked on showing cattle now. As we do every year, the bulls have been semen tested, they are tie broke and have been clipped to get them looking sharp for pictures. This bull we were planning on showing at the Alberta Hereford Showcase but with help hard to find we made the hard decision to leave him at home, he would have been very competitive in the show ring. He is a son off of the most docile cow we have ever owned and she definitely passed her temperment on to him. He is fully pigmented with a larger frame but still carries lots of length and muscle.

This is my pick of the bulls. I showed this June 10th bull at the Alberta Hereford showcase in Red Deer this fall. He was a class winner and went on to be reserve yearling horned bull. He carries a lot of natural muscle with extra thickness in the hind quarters and on top of his ribs. He is smooth fronted with very correct feet and legs. He has eye pigment and a very gentle nature. The terms of sale for this bull will be announced at the sale .

We hope everyone has had a great fall. We were blessed with some warm weather which made it easier to get all our fall chores done. Cattle prices have been strong and are continuing to trend upwards. It is a great time to be expanding and upgrading your herd whether it is with some top-quality replacement heifers or a new high performance herd sire. We always appreciate our loyal customers for standing behind us and believing in our program. We continue to strive at bringing you the best genetics to better the breed. We stand behind each of our sale animals 100% so we hope that give you a sense of comfort when purchasing. Calves are weaned without any creep feed and yearlings have been pastured on grass through the summer. Our cattle have not been pushed because we believe that in order to sustain longevity, they need to be developed at a natural rate. Our cattle perform well under these natural conditions and therefore will smoothly transition to their new environment after they are sold. We are excited about this years offering and feel that it is one of our best yet. The year the bulls were born we found that all of our birth weights were unexpectedly higher than normal. However, we don’t feel that will be a reflection of what they will throw for birth weights on their calves. Note that we listed the actual weaning and yearling weights on our sale cattle. We believe that these weights are a more accurate representation than an adjusted weight that also factors the cows age into the equation. Weaning weights were taken November 11, 2022 & yearling weights were taken March 27, 2023. All sale bulls have already passed their semen checks. All heifers are on the Ivomec Gold program & have been given Ivomec. Heifer calves are born in March & April. All heifers have had their horns removed and were banded if they still had some. This year we have an exciting group of Angus bulls to select from. Whether you need a heifer bull or a power bull the two different sire groups on offer have it all. The sires we used this year are Climate Change, a bull that we found while touring the yards at the Denver Stock Show from Bush Angus from Britton South Dakota. His dam could very well be the best angus cow we have seen. The addition of Climate Change to our herd is exciting with how the heifers and young bulls are growing. If you’re looking to boost the material part of your herd with some replacement female, look for his son’s sale day. Along with the second calf crop of our Country Lane Stunner sire. Stunner was brought into the herd to add some calving ease to our program and boy did he do that for us. As an added bonus he added a ton of rib shape and muscle mass to his sons and crossed very well with the “Intuition and Bush” daughters. Another addition to this year’s bull crop is 3 red carrier bulls. Three red angus cows were bred black after missing on the AI round, and it worked out pretty well for us, they are outstanding in their own ways. When it comes to purchasing a Lock Farms bulls, we want to make sure your cows are covered. If a bull goes down prior to or mid breeding season, make us your first call. We can work with you to get another semen tested bull to your yard to cover the cows. HEIFER BULL. Clean fronted and thick made. I could write a novel on his dam. We thought so much of 120E we kept her first calf for ourselves to use on heifer, and boy to we feel smart about that. 3 years averaging 35 heifers bred we have pulled one calf; I think that’s a state to be proud of. 120E had a square made udder and excellent feet. Unfortunately, 120E came in open last year so 138K is her last calf. Another “Bush” son 138K will square up udders and add pounds to his steer calves
