Figures 5-19 to 5-21 show the hydrology of the neighborhoods, including point sources of water pollution, storm drains, and the direction of surface flow. Point source water pollution comes from identifiable single sources, such as industrial discharge. The Clean Water Act requires permits from major sources of discharge (California Department of Water Resources 2006). In all three neighborhoods water generally flows to the south and west, although direction varies by street. This mapping is important for understanding access to, and flow of, stormwater runoff.
