Reminders Spring 2017 Priority Registration Make sure you know when your Priority Registration date! The Spring 2017 Priority Registration information link can be found at

http://registrar.arizona.edu/courses/spring-2017-priorityregistration. Juniors – You will be able to register beginning Oct 24 - Oct at 6am on 10/24/16 through 8pm on 30, 2016 10/30/16. National Student Exchange (NSE) students – October 24, You will be able to register beginning at 6am on 10/24/16 and will have continuous access 2016 through the first week of classes. Sophomores - You will be able to register beOct 31 - Nov ginning at 6am on 10/31/16 through 8pm on 6, 2016 11/6/16. Reminders Dear Juniors and Seniors,

We have partnered with Career Services to give our junior and senior majors access to Wildcat Joblink. Wildcat JobLink is a state-of-the-art career management tool, offering UA students access to jobs, internships, and a range of other services including campus interviewing and resume referrals.

To access JobLink, please visit the Career Services website at https:// www.career.arizona.edu/joblink. All you need is your NETID and password to login and take advantage of these great services.

Why is SGPP only funding juniors and seniors to have access to JobLink? The funding comes from SGPP Program Fees, which only our junior and senior majors pay. If you are a freshman or sophomore, you are welcome to register and pay the annual $5 fee out of pocket. Visit https://www.career.arizona.edu/joblink to register.

I will be a junior at the end of the current semester. When can I have access? SGPP will be requesting access for any students who have reached 60+ credits each semester after the census date (the 21st day of the semester). So, if you will have 60+ completed credits at the end of this semester, you will be granted access next semester after the census date. Volunteer Opportunity Call to Action! *Volunteers Needed* The Alitas Program provides humanitarian aid and basic resources to migrant families seeking political asylum in the United States. Many of these families are coming from Central America and are fleeing from intense violence and poverty. We are seeking volunteers to assist at the shelter and help families reunite with their loved ones. (Alitas is an affiliate program of Catholic Community Services.) Please note: -Student volunteers are eligible for community service/ internship hours -Spanish speaking skills are a great help! Scholarship Opportunities Dear SBS Undergraduate Students, We encourage you to apply to the SBS Magellan Circle Scholarship! Through the generous donations of Magellan Circle Members, the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS) offers $500 Magellan Circle Scholarships to fulltime SBS undergraduate majors enrolled during AY 16-17. You must be in good academic standing at the University of Arizona and making satisfactory progress toward your degree, and you must be able to demonstrate a documented level of financial need. This scholarship is unique in that you will meet the donor at a mandatory breakfast scheduled on Fall'16 Reading Day, which is December 8, 2016. This networking opportunity is one of the key benefits of this scholarship opportunity. Scholarship Opportunities The Lint Center for National Security Studies Scholarship Information The Lint Center for National Security Studies invites undergraduate and graduate students pursuing their education in majors related to homeland security (i.e. criminal justice/criminology, government, intelligence, etc.) to apply for scholarships. Awards will be made in amounts ranging from $500 - $1500. The completion of one application will qualify a student for multiple scholarships. Awards must be used for tuition and/or course fees. The mission of the Lint Center for National Security Studies is to foster the educational development of students interested in homeland security. Scholarship recipients will have the opportunity to participate in the Lint Center’s mentoring program, in which professional guidance can be obtained from an experienced counterintelligence or national security expert. These scholarships are recognized nationwide, with their prestige benefitting recipients during their academic and professional careers. The application process includes the submission of a short essay pertaining to counterintelligence, national security/defense, and/or alliance building. This essay should reflect a student’s ability to utilize innovative, creative and interdisciplinary thinking. All submitted information is confidential. There are no rigid GPA requirements. Downtown Series Explores Privacy With every click and swipe, we can access unimaginable amounts of information online. We also leave a trail of personal data, revealing secrets about our health, habits, beliefs, connections and plans. This fall, UA faculty will host a series of discussions with national privacy experts to explore the benefits and dangers of the digital age. Guest panelists include representatives from business, government, and privacy advocacy groups, including Fitbit, MediaBrix, the Center for Democracy and Technology, and the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point. Titled "Conversations on Privacy," the series will be held on five consecutive Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. from Oct. 19 to Nov. 16 at the Fox Tucson Theatre. More

How to Get Tickets The conversations are free and seating will be first-come, firstserved. The public can reserve tickets for each event in advance through Eventbrite. Tickets are also available at the Fox Tucson Theatre box office on the day of the event.

Fame and Shame in the Digital Age Oct. 26, 6:30 p.m. In the digital world, we leave a trail of information that can be easily obtained and posted online for everyone to see forever. For journalists trying to hold governments and corporations accountable, this information can be helpful in exposing wrongdoing. For private citizens and celebrities, however, the online publication of personal information can be devastating. David Cuiller, director of the UA School of Journalism; Jack Gillum, an Associated Press reporter who covers privacy, technology, and surveillance; and Emma Llansรณ, director of the Free Expression Project with the Center for Democracy and Technology (CDT), will discuss how we balance the public's right to know with the individual's right to privacy.
