rom the beginning Serpentrogue dabbled in all the aspects of Sims 3 content creating. Her makeup and facial hairs were instant must haves. When she began uploading clothing and then Sims to her TSR mini-site, there was no denying her as a creator to be recognized. Why would you want to? Her TSR mini-site is almost a one-stop-shop of quality Sims content! Now a Featured Artist at TSR, Serpentrogue is definitely worthy of note for her sultry models, trendy nails and GORGEOUS well made fashion forward clothing creations. We were thrilled to get the opportunity to know this creator a little better.
Thank you for taking the time to speak with us Serpentrogue. Please tell us a bit about yourself? My name is Tuğçe. I am 22 years old, studying architecture. I live in Turkey. I am friendly and ambitious person. I have a sister. She is a creator too. I taught her how to create. She will publish her work
soon. My kinds of music are metal, classical and rock. I love history, politics, languages, sports, technology and architecture. I don’t create buildings in the Sims 3. Because there must be much time to plan a building and there must be all materials that you planned. I am now Featured Artist at TSR and I like the atmosphere.

How would you describe your personal style? I have a very active life. I prefer jeans and blouses. I prefer comfortable shoes. Sometimes I prefer high-heeled shoes that make my height taller than men...lol Your creations have been of superior quality from the beginning. Usually we tend to see this attention to detail from seasoned creators of previous Sims versions who then moved on to Sims 3. How did you learn? Thank you. I am so happy to hear this. It wasn’t hard to learn. First I started making make up. This helped to get used to learning and making better. There weren’t many facial hair creations. I want to make male Sim into celebrity Sims. So I began to make facial hairs. And I don’t forget to tell about Ekinege. She is amazing creator. I am better with her guide. I learned quality work from her. What tools do you use? How long does it take you to create something for the game? I use Photoshop and Milkshape. I use 3dmax on my job. It is funny that I haven’t tried it for Sims 3. I am so busy with my university. I hardly find time to create when I am on school season. I draw my project almost every day. Other than that I learn Russian. I must create something so quickly. It sometimes takes even 10 minutes, sometimes an hour if I make a difficult mesh. Taking screenshots and preparing presentation take much time than

creating. Where would you point someone to begin making items for the Sims? And what advice do you have for aspiring creators? If someone begins making items for the Sims, they should start with easy ones like paintings or t-shirt prints. They should never give up creating. If someone wants to begin with clothing, they should download Ekinege’s clothing tutorial. Starting seems to be hard but they will have fun when they see they can create. Many TSR creators seem to be branching out and starting their own blogs and sites. Do you have any plans in that direction? I don’t think, I will open a blog. I have a tumblr, I can hardly update it. I want to share so many things but I can’t do it now.

My favorite expansion packs are Ambitions and Supernatural. I have so much fun when I play them. For Ambitions, I really like inventing and firefighter careers. Detonating neighbor’s cars is my one of the favorite things in the game. For supernatural I love to be a witch and use magic.

ne of the nicest things about having a forum is discovering things you didn’t even know you were missing. The uber HAWT Sims of Eden777 are just starting to get some attention, but we met her first through SF Magazine Forum gallery... “Who...” said Madison1909 “...is this creator? Have you seen her Sims?!?!”
Well, now we have the pleasure of ‘hood full of them and they are oh-so worth it. The ladies of Eden’s blog are cute as buttons and then MEN? *fans self* are the stuff Sim crushes are made of. We took a moment to get to know this up-and-coming Sim creator. If you haven’t seen her Sims on her blog and the exchange... DO check them out. Hi Eden. Please tell us a bit about yourself? I’m a single lady who lives, works and plays in the San Francisco Bay area. What prompted you to start making Sims for the community? I’ve been into the Sims since TS1 and got very addicted. Friends would call me up and threaten to have an intervention if I didn’t step away from my computer and get some fresh air. This is kind of embarrassing, but I’ll tell it anyway. I had a break up with my bf at that time and was pretty upset about it, so I created sim character for each of us and worked through the breakup in my game. I seem to recall him catching on fire a lot, lol. While you do make some lovely ladies, the bulk of the Sims you create seem to be men. Trust me, we aren’t complaining, but why did you decide to focus on the guys? I’ve made quite a few female sims over the past couple years, but I find the guys more challenging. Some of them are based on characters from novels I’ve read, and if you find them “hawt” it’s because the lead male character in the book probably is too, lol. I created this sim called Billy Ross who has been very popular and I had a character named Christian Grey on the brain when I was creating him, although the hair is different. I may still go back at some point and work on that character again. How would you describe your Sims? While I wouldn’t go so far as to say they’re real people to me, I do sort of imbibe them each with their own personality in my head when I’m creating them and I hope that comes through in their expressions. I strive for as much realism as possible and am frequently
inspired by new cc to make that happen. Thank goodness for the cc makers, you guys rock. How long does it take you to create one of your Sims and when do you look at a Sim and say this is the one? “This Sim is ready to leave the bin and face the world?” I don’t want my sims to all look the same, so when I’m creating one I try very hard to make them look as different from each other as possible. It can take me a few hours to a few days to make a sim, depending on whether I’m trying to make something specific, or just playing it by ear. Invariably, I’ll start out thinking I’m going to make a certain type of sim, and then they just morph into someone else. But that’s okay, it can get interesting. My game has a photography studio where I take the sim for pictures and that’s when I know, oh this one is going to be good, or back to the drawing board. I frequently edit them there and change their features if I see something’s not working. Lately I’ve been into blondes, not sure where that’s coming from, lol.
What would you say are some of the joys of having your own blog? What are the challenges? My blog is still pretty new. I started it because I wanted a place to post different types of photos. Then I started adding download links. I’ve been learning a lot about editing photos since I started it and am still learning. I also post random stuff in there that strikes me as fun or interesting such as links to my favorite authors websites, music or videos. I love it when people post comments or just drop in to say hello. What tips do you have for aspiring Sims creators? Have fun, take your time and just keep experimenting. Make the type of sims or content that you like. Join a few Sim forums and introduce yourself. There are some really nice people out there who can be incredibly helpful. Finally, in closing, what would you like to see more of in the Sims games and the Sims community as a whole? I actually think the Sims community is pretty cool, which is why I’m still here. As far as the games, we’ve been getting quite a few new EPs lately and I have most of them. But I do find myself wondering about what The Sims 4 will bring to the table. I wouldn’t mind seeing a more adult version of the Sims.

usic lovers, club crawlers, and celebrity gawkers seeking the hottest party in town need look no further than the Abbey. The work of architect and designer, Thaddeus Whitmore, this nightclub once stood in ruins as an abandoned church on a forgotten street corner. A self-described “art nerd” and recent graduate of the local university, Whitmore recalls many nights spent with friends in the dilapidated building. “Perhaps

fitting,” Whitmore recounts, “that outcasts such as ourselves felt most at home in this deserted church.” Stone slabs and stained glass along the grand church façade now translate into an experience for club-goers that is both monochromatic and kaleidoscopic, meditative and celebratory. Much of the church architecture has been preserved, from the vaulted ceilings to the prismatic windows. Modern updates abound, but every effort has been made to blend seamlessly the past with the present.

It was a quiet evening a few years back over at the Sims 3 Creative Corner. There were a smattering of forum posts every couple of hours, but nothing really new caught the eye. Then, all of the sudden, out of nowhere, popped up a new thread by a humble young creator named Christian351 (Chrillsims3) - and it literally took everyone’s breath away. Not only was he presenting a new house that he had built, and not only was he showing a few snapshots of that house, but he was also mesmerizing the world with a video - one that showed the house actually being built before their very eyes, as if captured with time-lapse photography. A collective scratching of the heads inevitably followed as thousands of viewers asked themselves, “How did he do that?” And if that was not enough of a spectacle, we were treated to
a complete tour of the house with effortless camera sweeps capturing every decorative detail throughout the home. The icing on the cake, though, had to be the charming story that followed, told through the eyes of a Sim. Since that video aired, Chrillsims3 has taken the world by storm, amassing nearly 40,000 YouTube subscribers and almost 9 million video views. Clearly one of the most well-known Sim architects, designers, and storytellers around, Chrillsims3 (or Christian as he is known in real life) hails from a small town in Sweden just outside Gothenburg. Not surprisingly, he aspires to become an architect while also studying game design and threedimensional animation. A devoted fan
since the first Sims game, he also enjoys other games like Far Cry 3 and Assassin’s Creed. He even participated in Electronic Arts’ recent Community Day showcasing the new University Life expansion pack and previewing upcoming developments for the Sims 3 franchise.During his filming of Episode 6 of “Let’s Build a House” in mid March, Chrillsims3 began to experience chest pain and shortness of breath. He suffered from a collapsed lung
and is continuing to receive treatment for this debilitating and painful condition at his local hospital. In the weeks following, the world has showered support and love upon him. His homes, his videos, his enthusiasm, his charming Swedish accent are sorely missed. We, at SF magazine, are keeping Chrillsims3 in our thoughts and prayers, hoping for a full and speedy recovery, and looking forward to his next brilliant creation.

am so happy to be able to talk to you, get to know you, and learn more about your incredible, detailed and realistic creations. I’ve always been inspired by your work. Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you were drawn to the Sims. Thank you, it’s something very special to me and a big step for me to do this interview, since I’m such a shy person. My adventure with The Sims began with Sims 2. It introduced me into the Sims Community, and I met people who would do absolute wonders for the Sims. They really motivated me to share my creations. With the release of Sims 3, I began to create objects and discovered a passion for graphic design. This was all so new to me, as I was only familiar with Spanish Bohemian culture. I found that through my computer, I was able to express myself artistically. And I haven’t stopped creating objects to give my game different scenarios since! Furthermore, I believe Sims 3 is the perfect canvas for someone to express themselves.
Your artistic talent is clearly evident. Do you have a background in art, design, or architecture? My education is in the Fine Arts. With everything you are doing, do you have time to actually PLAY The Sims or do you have other projects that you use your Sims games for? It goes both ways, I play to create and create to play. There are occasions where I just cannot find any inspiration so I begin to build my Sims a new house, and the inspiration just comes over me. Who are you creating for? Are all of these masterpieces for your own projects, for any particular audience, or are you just simply inspired to create and share? Primarily, the things I create are for my own projects, but I always end up sharing my creations. There is nothing that could bring me more satisfaction than sharing. Sharing is the pinnacle of creating. Your creations have an incredible feel of history and culture. Where do you draw your inspiration? My inspiration may come from a picture, a life experience, anything really. Everything inspires me.

What do you have planned for the future? Will you keep surprising us with more of your unique and incredibly artistic creations? Last month, SF Magazine approached me about providing some world building tips and hints for their upcoming issue, and I am thrilled to share a little bit of insight about how I approach world building, both as a Producer and an avid player. The biggest tip I can give is before you start a world, figure out what story it is you’re trying to tell. I’m not saying that you’ll want to have the full fiction of all of the Sims down, but you do want to have a firm idea about your landscape.

Points to Ponder • What natural elements would be key to make your world what you want? • Are you basing it off of a real place, a mix of locations, or something out of your dreams? • What is life like for the standard Sim moving around this world? (i.e. Do they live on one side and work on another? Is there lots of space for gardens? ) • Are your rabbitholes focused in the center of town or spread throughout?
Getting Started Once you get a good idea of the natural landscape of the world and an idea of the neighborhoods and what they’re like, you’ll have a good start for building your world. For example, in our latest world, Aurora Skies, we really wanted to capture the notion of this quiet coastal town that has a lot of stunning natural beauty through elements like fjords, geo-thermal lake, the distance from sea level, etc. And having a location in mind fueled a lot of our building decisions as well, such as trying to build houses to look like something you would actually see in the inspiring countries, trying to encompass the eco-friendly aspect, and trying to balance a modern urban neighborhood with homes that have wide open spaces. The best thing about building worlds is that you’re really only limited by your imagination (although, CAW can be pretty challenging to master!) in creating an amazing world.
One More Thing... One more tip as a Producer *and* a player, if you are building your world to emulate the world of your dreams, then go crazy! But keep in mind, if you’re building a world specifically to share with many others, you will want to create that world to be compatible with a wide range of computers. Worlds can get pretty hefty if they are not carefully built and you may find, after all of your hard work that some Simmers just can’t play it. Plan your dream, think about who you are building the world for, and most importantly, have fun!
