2011-12 BOX SCORES & RECAPS SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Seton Hall men’s basketball team snapped an 11-game losing streak that spanned over 55 years in the National Invitational Tournament, outlasting Stony Brook, 63-61, on Tuesday night.

The Pirates were led by a game-high 21 points from senior Jordan Theodore (Englewood, N.J.), who also added six assists. Fellow senior Herb Pope (Aliquippa, Pa.) turned in an excellent all-around effort, scoring 20 points on 7-for-10 shooting, pulling down nine rebounds and recording three blocks along with four steals. It was the third time this season the duo has each scored over 20 points.

stony brook - 61

The Pirates turned up the pressure on the visitors from the tip, forcing six early turnovers, four of which came courtesy of pilfers by Fuquan Edwin (Paterson, N.J.), the nation’s leader in steals, as they jumped out to an early 8-2 advantage. Pope scored six of the team’s first 12 points, and a flush off a backdoor cut and a nice feed from freshman Brandon Mobley (Savannah, Ga.) gave SHU its first double-digit edge of the game at 12-2 with 13:47 remaining in the opening half. Stony Brook responded with five unanswered points, but three-pointers by Theodore and freshman Aaron Cosby (Louisville, Ky.) helped Seton Hall keep the Seawolves at bay, giving the top-seeded Pirates an 18-10 advantage at the 8:22 mark.
