Instructions for Authors Nursing Journal General requirements Nursing Journal [NJ] welcomes scientific contributions in the field of nursing education, practice, research, healthcare, delivery, medicine and related areas such as ethics in medicine, nursing and doctor’s management, public health and the history of nursing and medicine. Papers from the annual meetings of the Croatian Nurses Association, American Organization of Nurse Executives, European Federation of Nurses Associations and International Council of Nurses will also be considered in the course of the following year. Incorporated images are welcome. All manuscripts are subject to review by the Editor, Associate Editors, invited referees and a statistician when appropriate. Acceptance is based upon the originality, significance, and validity of the material presented. Submission letter. All new manuscripts should be accompanied by a submission letter that includes the following statements: (a) there has been no duplicate publication or submission elsewhere; (b) all authors have read and approved the manuscript; (c) subject to acceptance, authors will transfer copyright to the Publisher; and (d) there is no ethical problem or conflict of interest (see below). It is also helpful to indicate here what could shorten your paper. Remember that the full paper can be reviewed and a shorter version published. The submission letter should also indicate the type of paper and the appropriate subject category. Human research. Authors should stipulate in the Materials and methods section that informed consent was obtained where applicable and state that the study was approved by their institutional ethics committee on human research. Conflict of Interest Policy. The Editors require authors to disclose any commercial associations that might pose a conflict of interest in connection with the submitted article. All sources of funding for the work should be acknowledged in a footnote on the title page, as should all institutional affiliations of the authors (including corporate appointments). Other kinds of associations, such as consultancies, stock ownership or other equity interests or patent-licensing arrangements should be disclosed to the Editors in the cover letter at the time of submission. If no conflict of interest exists, please state this in the cover letter. The Editor reser ves the right to reject manuscripts that do not comply with the above-mentioned requirements. The author will

be held responsible for false statements or for failure to fulfil the above-mentioned requirements.

Content of paper The paper should be submitted in one of the following article types: Original article [OA], Brief Communication [BC]; Case Report [CR]; Editorial [ED]; Historical Pages [HP]; Review article [REV]; Patient safety (PS); Workplace safety [WPS].

Original article [OA] The NJ gives priority to reports of original research that are likely to change thinking about nursing science. Randomized controlled trials (RCT) should be reported in accordance with a recognized checklist. The checklist used should be mentioned in the Materials and methods section.

Brief Communication [BC] BC outlines a substantial jump in thinking that is testable. New data are not part of a BC, but you must include a section on how to test your idea.

Case Reports [CR] These papers describe, in 1500 words, a single interesting case, which should not be a rarity and that provides a teaching point.

Editorial [ED] The voice of the NJ, editorials are written in house by the journals editorial-writing team.

Historical Pages [HP] Disease focused over views for the generalist, covering epidemiology, diagnosis and management.

Review article [REV] When writing any review paper, it is important that there should be complete transparency about the choice of material included. Since these papers should be comprehensive, we encourage citation of publications in non-English languages.
