Dr. Byron Young On July 1, 2007, Neurosurgery was granted departmental status after being a division in the Department of Surgery. Departmental status is acknowledgement of the excellence of our clinical, research and educational activities. The expansion of UK’s clinical facilities as well as the building of the new Chandler Hospital has created an environment of optimism and excitement similar to the founding of the UK College of Medicine. The members of our department are enthusiastic about contributing to all the efforts to provide the very best care for our patients and to improving the patient experience at UK.
