PRESS RELEASE: Hamburg Trading House Technical Seminar a Success September 8th, Dubai UAE - With around 40 people in attendance, the Hamburg Trading House Technical seminar ended with a definite success as it has been able to expand the reaches of its technical support to more and more people about Shell Marine Lubricants. The HTH management is more than pleased to note that the increase of seminar participants by 100% is clear indication that the need to be more meticulous when it comes to marine lubricants and testing is becoming more pronounced. The turn-out of participants might have been affected by the success of a similar seminar hosted by HTH last year.
Conducted September 8 at the Sheraton Hotel, Mall of the Emirates, the five-hour seminar opened with a short introduction of Hamburg Trading House and different kinds of Shell Marine products. Also imparted are the following seminar highlights which tackled issues relevant to the marine industry: where crude oil to lubricants and greases come from and what happens in the refinery and blending plant; the lubricants and greases in the marine industry and their applications; the
different kinds of Environmental Acceptable Lubricants Rules and Regulations and where these are applicable; ECAs, low sulphur fuel oil and the need of low BN cylinder oil; why oil analysis is important, how to take samples and how to interpret results; and, what on-board test kits are and how to use them. The participants were overwhelmed and were very satisfied with the new information and knowledge that they have learned from the seminar. All of them were thankful to HTH for having organized said seminar and for providing an avenue where the attendees could know more about different technical issues in the marine industry. The speakers where the experts coming from Shell Marine Products, Tribomar Germany and Hamburg Trading House. The audience was ranging from purchase officers, superintendents and technical managers. All in attendance were very participative during the whole activity. They did not only sit down and listen – they also asked questions and were engaged in lively discussions. The speakers were more than credible to answer all queries and were very happy to have been able to share their expertise. Capping the day, the participants, HTH and the speakers shared a sumptuous buffet while taking the opportunity to network products and services among their fellows in the marine industry.
