Driveway Security Alarm A driveway alarm is the first line of defense for the twenty first century home or office. Properly installed, driveway alarms wireless can alert you to the presence of persons or vehicles on your property. And they will do this well before a more conventional entry based alarm system issues an alert. If you have vehicles, recreational vehicles or boats, a driveway alarm can alert you to theft or break in attempts. A driveway alarm will provide additional early warning as potential burglars or other approach your home or business providing an audible or visual alert whenever anyone enters your driveway, parking lot, or other secured area. There are three primary types driveway alarm. Driveway motion detectors will detect both vehicles and pedestrians but are prone to false alarms, i.e. from animals or pets. These are commonly infrared detectors that trigger an alarm whenever motion is detected. A pressure tube sensor is an air hose that is placed on the driveway and is triggered by the weight of a vehicle driving over it. These are simple to install but are visible and therefore easier to avoid or disable. A magnetic vehicle detector senses vehicles passing over or nearby to the sensor. These devices can be placed in ground and are not easily located or identified. These systems are the most complex and time consuming to install but will produce far fewer false alarms than motion detectors. Wireless systems allow the driveway sensors to signal an alarm without a wired connection to the alarm control system. Instead, sensors are connected to a control box or include a wireless transmitter inside of the unit. Depending on the unit you select the range can be up to several miles enabling the security of larger areas, grounds, or facilities. Depending on your application, situation and budget you will want to select one or more wireless driveway alarm sensors to secure your property and vehicles.
