Bringing a new variety or a new product to market takes time and effort. And it is a great responsibility for breeder and producer alike. I.e. in Germany, one of the world’s largest consumers of flowers in terms of per capita spending, there have been a few years of ample discussion within the industry asking how we can (and must!) add value to our product. In our industry it all starts with breeding new and exciting varieties, or developing new interspecific species using advanced breeding methods. But it is only a start and it needs a chain of commitment in order to finally be able to add value to our product: proper testing using protocols and various trial locations around the world; production facilities that are MPS-A, MPS-GAP, MPS-SQ certified in order to provide Retailers with confidence, and marketing concepts that offer the possibility to differentiate. In the cut flower world, which is viewed from consumers as generic, this is one of our greatest challenges. This we can only achieve together, and we are ready, since We love to grow…with you. Introducir una nueva variedad o un nuevo producto al mercado lleva tiempo y esfuerzo. Y es una gran responsabilidad tanto para el hibridador como para el productor. Alemania, por ejemplo, es uno de los mayores consumidores de flores del mundo, en términos de gasto per cápita, y es desde hace algunos años que existe una amplia discusión dentro de la industria sobre cómo podemos y debemos añadir valor agregado a nuestros productos. En nuestra industria todo comienza con la hibridación de nuevas y diferentes variedades, o con el desarrollo de nuevas especies interespecíficas usando métodos avanzados de mejoramiento genético. Pero eso es solo el comienzo y un eslabon de la cadena de compromisos necesarios para lograr el fin deseado; ser capaz de añadir valor agregado a nuestros productos; el uso de protocolos adecuados, pruebas en diferentes lugares alrededor del mundo, instalaciones de producción con certificaciones MPS-A, MPS-GAP, MPS–SQ que proporcionen confianza, además de estrategias de marketing que faciliten la comercialización.
