His retirement from the “Board of Trustees” after some 32-years of membership of faithful, devoted service, Trustee Stokes served with honor, integrity, dignity, devotion, and caring about the advancing of the Church’s goals with perseverance.

I therefore joyously commend him to the Lord Christ as a brother beloved, friend, and trustworthy soul. My heartfelt thanks to Diakona Stokes, as he served as one of my Under-shepherding deacons, and trustees for many years as I led the congregants from realm -to-realm during my tenure.

Diakona/Trustee Stokes, was loved by many of the congregants for his tenacious spirit, fortitude, and character in the life of the parish church. He persevered even as he traveled from Los Angeles, and punctuality was important to him. a venture the most part on time for worship, Trustees’ meeting, Joint Board conference, and the general Parish church meetings.

I am sure his presence will be missed, but others will carry on the legacy he left as a member of the Board of Trustees. Again, thank you Diakona/Trustee Lonnie Stokes, for your faithfulness and devotion to me, Pastor Christopher Bourne, and the parish church. May you live long and enjoy the fruits of his past labor for God and His kingdom through Second Baptist Church, Monrovia, CA. You can be assured of my prayers during this time of transition.

Until He Comes, I Am Serving Christ Joyfully, Bishop Dr. Wm. LaRue Dillard, SBC., Under-shepherd Emeritus

Christopher A. Bourne, Sr. Pastor shared the following: Isaiah 22:22 - The key of the house of David I will lay on his shoulder; So he shall open, and no one shall shut; and he shall shut, and no one shall open.

Diakona Lonnie Stokes, Thank you for your faithfulness of service on the Trustees Board. More specifically, we appreciate your ministry in the Lord by keeping the 'keys' of Second Baptist Church. Your professionalism and integrity are evident that our God entrusted the right person with the 'keys' of this house. May God continue to bless your life!
