The Christian’s Audacious Assumption! (Proverbs 16:1-9)

Sons and Daughters in the Light, Grace to You!

M

y love Epistle to you comes from the Word of God in Proverbs which encourages “Godly Living.” Listen to verse 9, “man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.”

When I read this verse, I asked: “Isn’t it a bit audacious to think that God cares or is concerned about the decisions of the Saints’ daily life?” This question is answered by God through the eminent Apostle Paul with a resounding “No!” The word “audacious” can be taken in two ways. It can mean presumptuous, saucy, and impudent. The two of the divergent uses of the word focus on the different attitudes of Christians about God’s guidance. Most church-going Christians in name do not expect to be guided by God. They think it’s petulant personalism to think that God either has a plan for their lives, or has the inclination or interest to communicate with them as individuals as a particularized providence. They seem to think or feel that the idea of God is guiding us to makes the Almighty a messenger boy. The Bible Ouija board and contemplation of the implications of circumstance, like reading a horoscope. I have taught, over the years, that the Word of God is the final court of arbitration in all things in the lives of Saints. I must confess that there are carnal Saints whose audacity is rooted in a humbled benefit that the habitual response of a God-centered mind to the total lift situation in which responsibility and opportunity meet can find guidance for the specific decisions and involvements to God’s work through His church in their lives. The result is an assurance issuing in obedience and freedom in Worship, Word, Praise, Work, and Glorification unto the Lord and faithfully paying the tithe and giving offerings to advance the holy church of God. Christian, which one do you check out, “Horoscope or Bible?” Think about it! Until He Comes, I Am Serving Christ Joyfully, Bishop Dr. Wm. LaRue Dillard Parish Under-Shepherd

This story is a testament to her character and spirit during which students learn about the life of an important and influential woman in 1800s California. Ref.: Enrichment Works. earning about acceptance, love and compassion helps us to accept ourselves without conditions. As our faith deepens, our understanding of what it means to act in good faith changes as well. (Living Clean pg. 12 NA)

It’s good to have faith, but we also have to practice faith as well. I can have faith that I will get up the next morning and go to work; but unless I actually get up the next morning and prepare myself to go, my faith is null and void. Hebrews 11:1 now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. NKJ Mark 11:24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. NKJ I’ve known many to believe in and hope for something to happen, however, if there is no work done on your end to cause what you are believing for to happen; It won’t happen! (There are some exceptions to this, but that’s not the rule.) So, I’ve learned, since I had to re-start my life over at 36 years old, from the bottom, that if you want something; pray, have faith in God and then get to work! God will be with you on your journey!

Daring to Hope is an invitation to cling to the God of the impossible— the God who whispers His love to us in the quiet, in the mundane, when our prayers are not answered the way we want or the miracle doesn’t come. It’s about a mother discovering the extraordinary strength it takes to be ordinary. It’s about choosing faith no matter the circumstance and about encountering God’s goodness in the least expected places. Though your heartaches and dreams may take a different shape, you will find your own questions echoed in these pages. You’ll be reminded of the gifts of joy in the midst of sorrow. And you’ll hear God’s whisper: Hold on to hope. I will meet you here.

Ms. Rashad gives a remarkable, pull-outall-the-stops performance. Ben Brantley, The New York Times An astonishing, deeply moving new drama about family, acceptance, and the power of faith from MacArthur “Genius Award”-winning playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney (The Brother/Sister Plays, Oscar® winner for Moonlight), featuring Tony Award® winner Phylicia Rashad. At the mouth of the Mississippi River, Shelah’s family and friends have come to celebrate her birthday and save her from a leaking roof. But in this contemporary parable inspired by the Book of Job, unexpected events turn the reunion into the ultimate test of faith and love. As her world seems to collapse around her, Shelah (Rashad) must fight to survive the rising flood of life’s greatest challenges in this poetic and piercing new play.

If God Took His Hand Away by CherryBlossom Life does not issue absolutes Nor offer any guarantee So as you challenge and question God In anger and dismay Ask yourself, “Where would I be If God took His Hand away?” Yes, you’ve suffered and been hurt But, in spite of all, I still assert That God has never forsaken you For you’re not the only one Who’s ever cried, “I’m going through!” But I remember how Job still did humbly pray Even when his own wife told him to curse God and betray His faith But, No, he never went astray Asking himself, “Where would I be If God took His Hand away?” Oh, yes, it’s easy to praise Him When we’ve been blessed But when troubles rise Should we then, His power, doubt and despise? Should we, then, not be impressed Thinking HE failed some test Because He hasn’t, yet….. let us rest? So, then, should HIS glory be assessed Because some days are long and grey? Well, what would you, then, say If God took His Hand away

I

feel very sick; should I wait and call my doctor, or should I seek urgent care at a neighborhood site? My 10-year old child has a fever and says his ear hurts what should I do? My husband is complaining of chest pains, should I take him to an urgent care center or the hospital emergency room? How do I make the right choice for the problem? Based on the above examples, when someone complains of persistent chest pain, especially if it radiates to the arm, it's better to be safe and dial 911 for emergency assistance. In other cases like the ones presented above, it's important to know the difference between urgent care and hospital emergency care. Making the right choice can save you time, money, and even more so the life of a love one. When you are feeling sick and it is possible to call your primary care physician’s office for advice, this would be a prudent decision. Your primary care provider knows your medical history and can often give you the best advice for treatment. An urgent care center is the right choice for common illnesses and injuries that need to be treated right away but are not an emergencies such as sprains, minor cuts that may require stitches, sore throats, ear pain, fevers without a rash, persistent diarrhea, and/or vomiting to name a few. So the urgent care center is where you would take your 10-year old whose ear hurts when your pediatrician/doctor's office is closed. Urgent care centers are usually open after normal business hours, including evenings and weekends. Often there is a doctor on site, but care could be provided by a nurse practitioner or physician assistant. You are treated on a first-comefirst-serve basis. But you are seen sooner than in the hospital ER where the sickest patient is treated first. Hospital ERs are prepared for every kind of adult and childhood medical emergency. They are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. For serious injuries or illnesses, and when minutes count, this is the place to go. In the above example, the husband who is experiencing persistent, radiating chest pain should be treated in ER. Remember, visiting an urgent care center first during a medical emergency may delay medical care for a serious condition. Hospital ERs are staffed to assess and treat the emergency as well as provide advanced treatment if needed (such as emergency surgery). Choose the right care at the right place, at the right time for the best resolution. Live Life Healthy!
