GOD CARES ABOUT YOU! Sons and Daughters of My Flock, God’s Grace to You! The Holy Bible assures the saints of everlasting life: “We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover, whom He predestined, these He also called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.” (Romans 8:28-30) This is God’s promise for those who love Him. Isn’t it amazing that a person studying horoscope and the stars finds out what was going to happen and has misguided prejudice about a belief that God has a plan for bringing good out of all that happens? If you engage them about God, His plan for our lives and our destiny which is predetermined if we will dare to accept it, will they have any valid answers? It prompts me to ask: “How can we reconcile predestination and free will?” Or “How can I be sure I am chosen among the elect?” We all want to know “how God knows or cares about me with all the billions of people on earth?” Does God have an individualized plan for me? I have always believed since my call to become a clergyman of the Christian Faith that before any intellectually sound, biblically rooted understanding of predestination can be allowed to grow, we must first cultivate our minds with some clear thinking with what the Bible says. My offer is essentially the same as God’s message through Paul made to the Christians at Rome. They, too, wanted assurance that God knew and cared about them in their struggles, frustrations and difficulties. The Apostle Paul used of God lyrically penned one of the most magnificent descriptions in Scripture of the essence of predestination in the above passage. It vividly and awesomely describes God’s purpose, plan and promise for each of us. “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God…” I want you to think of this like a last will and testament from our Heavenly Father. Explaining its true meaning is like a lawyer sharing the good news of an unexpected inheritance to people living as paupers because they did not know what had been left to them. Listen. Your name and mine are among the blessed beneficiaries. Hallelujah! Amen Serving Christ Joyfully Bishop Dr. Wm. LaRue Dillard, Parish Under-shepherd
