The Call to Worship--------------------------------Lyceum Council of Elder

Hymn of Experience: “Come, Thou Almighty King #4 BREAKING THE MENTAL CHANGES THAT BINDS YOU! (I John 3:19-21) Sons and Daughters of my Flock, Grace to you! My Love Epistle will share with you a powerful message from God through His servant John. “For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God.” (I John 3:20-21) I have discovered that the great need for most Christians is to have a heart for the unique person who lives inside us. Many Christians suffer mentally from a lack of self-affirmation. Life has conditioned us to be very hard on ourselves. We are more aware of our liabilities than our assets. Past failures haunt us and rob us of the delight of the present or excitement for the future. Break the mental change that binds you from becoming the positive and successful person God designed for you to become. It’s difficult to be up for life when we are down on ourselves. Self-condemnation is the result of not measuring up to our standards and expectations. We miss the joy of living because we feel we have no right to enjoy ourselves, knowing all we do about our failures and missed opportunities. This becomes a syndrome. Our self-depreciation paves the way for further disappointment. We need a new way of thinking about ourselves. Our hearts need different signals from our brains---a new objectivity based on something ultimately reliable. Only God can do that. This is the tonic for our wilted self-image. A thorough exposition of this section is one of the most liberating experiences a Christian can know - how to receive new thinking free from condemnation. Amen Until He Comes, I Am Serving Christ Joyfully, Bishop Dr. Wm. LaRue Dillard Parish Under-shepherd
