The Mogao Caves: An Immersive Experience Octave 9: Raisbeck Music Center

One of the world’s great cultural heritage and Asian art sites is vividly showcased in this once-in-a-lifetime immersive exhibit in Octave 9. The Mogao Caves — excavated grottos in the Gobi Desert — date back over 1,000 years and contain remarkable displays of Buddhist artwork. In this virtual journey to the desert, youʼll walk through the astounding caves that inspired composer Tan Dunʼs powerful Buddha Passion, featured this season in the Delta Air Lines Masterworks Series. Skiing in the Shadow of Everest Hilaree Nelson mountaineer Next to Everest in the towering Himalaya sits Lhotse, the fourth-highest mountain in the world. Its famed couloir — nicknamed the “Dream Line” — is considered one of the boldest ski runs of all time. In 2018, mountaineer Hilaree Nelson became the first woman to complete the run. Hear Nelson’s stories of the passion, grit and teamwork behind this historic achievement. The National Geographic Live Seattle Speaker Series is presented by the Seattle Symphony.
