Why I love my Torker Cargo T. “My Torker Cargo T is like a luxury vehicle on two wheels. I love the geometry, saddle, bike handling, and classic stylings. I really enjoy the fact that my Cargo T isn’t like any other bikes out there. The appearance of the bike is so unique that it literally stands out from all the rest. I love the load bearing capacity and have used the bike to replace my Xtracycle. Though the green one was available, I preferred the dark grey. It says “classy” to me. The decals are very subtle, no obnoxious logos or loud lettering. I ride my Torker Cargo T whenever I have to run errands, it’s my utility bike that took the place of another. I use it for grocery shopping, taking my kids to school or going to the park. Prior to my Cargo T, my Xtracycle was my main bike, now that I ride the Torker, that old bike is litterally in pieces in my garage, ready to be sold. I like the sturdy racks, I can load up on some of the biggest items that I need to haul, I also like the dual kick stand. Love that thing! Couple that with the locking steerer, then you’ve got a match made in heaven. I posted it on BikeCommuters.com, but I rode the Cargo T on some mountain biking trails to show our readers that this bike is VERY durable. Our electric bicycle line is totally hybrid-functional. You can begin by pedaling our bikes as you would a traditional bike but as you reach a certain speed (approximately 4 -5 mph) the Protanium® system assists your pedaling and gives you the sensation of the wind at your back. Or simply initiate pedaling and hold the throttle down to power up the road to speeds up to 18mph (environmentally influenced). We took a different approach to electric bikes, not trying to reproduce a moped, but keep a bicycle-like look and ride but with the power to extend your range and adventures! When not riding under electric power, unlike most of the competition, there is very little motor drag, as the Protanium® hub motor silently freewheels maintaining a great bicycling experience.
Easy Wheel Change
The Protanium® wheel change system enables removal of your front wheel for flat repair or bike transport. A common adjustable wrench and screwdriver is all you need, much like servicing any front wheel with axle nuts. Wiring is quick disconnect and kept to a minimum to make removing and installing your motorized wheel a breeze.

A single charge will take you approximately 25 miles of power assisted riding (Actual distance will vary depending on riding conditions and rider weight.).
The battery recharges in less than five hours, has two- to five-times the service life of competitive technologies, and provides consistent full power to the motor until the point when the Protanium battery management system shuts down the power to protect the battery from over discharging.

The Protanium® ELI battery is easily removed for recharging with our Protanium Plug ‘n’ Drive System. There are no wires complicating the process of engaging and disengaging the electric system.. When recharging the battery, simply disengage the battery pack from the rack and plug it into the wall using the Protanium recharger. Once recharged, simply reengage the battery in the rack, lock it into place and off you go, it is that easy.
Our bikes are very lightweight, setting a new benchmark for electric bikes. The Protanium® electric system utilizes the latest technology in lithium polymer batteries and brushless high efficiency motors. The complete Protanium electrical drive system including motor, battery, controller and wiring is less than 16 pounds, lighter than some competitor’s battery alone! This makes for a complete electric bike at less than 50 lbs – far less than other models on the market that may be as much as 90 lbs!
The Protanium DC Brushless Hub Motor
The core of the system is the Protanium® motor. The Protanium hub motor is light, small, powerful, durable, quiet and efficient.The brushless design means there are no mechanical contact points (brushes) to cause drag, internal contaminating dust or wearable parts to be replaced. The brushless design uses “pulses” of electricity sent from the battery to create power. These pulses are triggered by the motor controller located next to the Protanium® ELI battery box. The Controller is like the fuel injection system in a car metering out just the right amount of power efficiently at the right time based on rider input and road conditions (wind, terrain, speed etc.) The internally geared motor is smaller and provides more torque than other common designs.When there is no added power desired by the rider or when bike speed exceeds the motor allowed speed, the hub simply spins silently with very little added drag. The high efficiency output of the Protanium® motor adds just the right amount of power when needed Since 20% or more of the battery drain happens when a rider starts from a dead stop, the automatic pedal assist feature kicks in the motor once the rider has reached 3-4 mph extending the overall range significantly. The motor will automatically cuts out when the front brake is applied.
The Protanium Battery Pack
The Protanium ELI Power Pack contains the latest battery technology beyond Lithium Ion, Lithium Polymer, and is one of the few LiPo systems available in a bike. Why is this better? The Protanium 29.4-volt 10 Amp-Hour Lithium Polymer (LiPo) battery is about 5 times the power to weight ratio (specific energy) as Lead Acid, 4 times Nickel Cadmium, 2.5 times Nickel Metal Hydride or 1.4 times the power to weight ratio of lithium Ion. This means more power for the same weight or the same power in a much smaller space or a combination of increased power and less weight. Also when comparing other technologies, one must also look at the environmental impact of the battery.

When correctly controlled Lithium Polymer discharges at a more consistent voltage than other battery technologies, the power output is more predictable. Also, recharging is much faster. At less than 5 hours, recharging the battery is accomplished in less than half the time of other battery types. Battery care is similar to a laptop computer, store the Protanium battery between 32 and 140 degrees and charge it up at least once every 2 months or when there are 2 lights or less showing on the Protanium battery meter. Because the Protanium battery recharges so quickly, there is no need to leave the battery plugged into the charger for extended periods of time. The key is to maintain activity with the battery in order to preserve the battery life. Lithium Polymer batteries can have as many as 3 times the service life of other types of batteries so ride often! Lithium Polymer is not based on a liquid solvent like Lithium Ion and other technologies so it doesn’t need to be contained in a heavy metal shell. The gumlike substance is also far safer than Lithium Ion since it is not a flammable liquid. It can also take on various shapes and be made very compact. You may even have a Lithium Polymer battery in your pocket now if you have a recently produced cell phone. The Protanium® Lithium Polymer Power Pack is lighter, smaller, safer, and more reliable than most other battery packs.

If the 400e is Torker’s “everyday driver,” then the all new, heavily-upgraded T-450e is the Cadillac of all hybrid bikes. The first major upgrade was done to the alloy frame; utilizing a special extruded tubing to hide all of the electric cables. A smooth looking integrated headtube compliments this clean looking bike, along with a 2-tone paint job. Another enhancement to the 450e is the Sturmey-Archer internal 5-speed rear hub, which is easily shifted by a twist of the right grip. TORKER LIMITED WARRANTY Torker Bicycles warrants the replacement of original components on Torker Bicycles due to defects in materials and/or workmanship according to the following conditions and limitations: 1. The frame is warranted to the original purchaser for as long as he or she owns the bicycle. 2. The components, other than the frame, are warranted for one year from the date of purchase. 3.
