Greetings Hey Huskies! Greetings and welcome to Campus Recreation and Sports Facilities. SCSU and “campus rec” is an essential and selfrewarding experience that is designed to provide leisure recreation and wellness programs for students, faculty, staff, and surrounding communities of St. Cloud State University. The department focuses on implementing and maintaining a strong recreational complex by encouraging wellness through healthy living, academic achievement, and a sense of inclusion through intramural sports leagues, club sports, outdoor recreation, fitness, wellness, e sports and much more. We provide an extensive range of activities, events and programs such as basketball, flag football, co-ed volleyball, soccer, wellness classes and more. Your participation in these activities/programs can assist in building the community through authentic relationships, cultivate leadership through experiences, foster development through education and relieve stress while contributing to your overall well-being as a student here at SCSU! I want to personally wish you a successful academic year. And again, thank you for choosing St. Cloud State University!

GROUP FITNESS CLASSES KETTLEBELL / TRX Improve strength and define muscles with Melissa! TRX is a training system that builds strength, balance, flexibility and core stability. The Kettlebell is the ultimate all-in-one strength and conditioning tool. If you are tired of the gym and are looking maximize your workout this class is for you.

SPIN / CYCLING Had a rough day at work? Ready to burn off some energy? If so, indoor cycling is your new best friend. This class is loaded with cycle training techniques that are taken straight from the road. Hit the bike for 1 hour of sweat dripping fun with Calvn.

ABS / CORE What do we want? “Killer Abs!” When do we want them? “Now!” We know what you want, 40 minutes packed to the max with corestrengthening moves taught by Kiarri. Come to this class ready to work and you won’t leave disappointed.

SPORT CLUBS A Sports club is a registered student organization formed by individuals motivated by common interest and desire to participate in a favorite sport activity. Sports Clubs vary in focus and programming since student members manage the operation of the club and decide cub activities. A sport club may be competitive, recreational, or social. Bike the Night: When: Wednesday, 8/24 and Friday, 4/28 - 5pm to 7pm - Free Where: St. Cloud, MN - Meet by Outdoor Recreation loading Zone Cost: Free Registration Deadline: Monday, August 21st/Monday, April 24th Pre-Trip Meeting: No pre-trip meeting Get your exercise with Bike the Night! We will bike around St. Cloud to have a better view of the city. Have some leisure time biking along the Mississippi River with other students! Estimated trip duration: 5pm - 7pm

Camping in Theodore Roosevelt National Park When: Friday, September 23rd through Sunday, September 25th Where: Cottonwood Campground outside of Medora, ND Cost: $50 Registration Deadline: September 5th Pre-Trip Meeting: 5pm on Thursday, September 15th Get away from the daily grind and relax beneath the stars of Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Camping, hiking, roasting marshmallows, seeing wildlife, making new friends, and possibly learning some new skills! Join us on this adventure west to see the buffalo and sleep under the stars! Estimated Trip Duration: 5am Friday morning to 5pm Sunday evening.

Horseback Riding: When: Wednesday, 9/21 - 8am to 5pm - $40 Where: Carver, MN Cost: $40 Registration Deadline: Tuesday, September 13th Pre-Trip Meeting: 4pm on Thursday, 9/15 Enjoy the pure fun of riding horses in beautiful Carver, MN. Take a small mid-week break from studying and campus to enjoy a trip to River Valley Horse Ranch! You will be able to explore nature, meet a horse or two, and make new friends!

Axe Throwing When: Monday, October 24th Cost: $40 Where: Flannel Jax in St, Paul, MN Registration Deadline: October 17th Pre-Trip Meeting: 5pm on Thursday, October 20th Unleash your inner Lumberjack with some good clean fun! Join us as we venture to St. Paul, MN to experience the ultimate social experience with axe throwing. Learn a new skill then test it by competing about your friends in this new addition to our recreation adventures! Estimated trip duration: 10am to 5pm

Snowshoeing by the Mississippi River When: Saturday, January 21st 10 am to 1pm Cost: Free Where: St. Cloud, MN - Along the Beaver Island Trail Registration Dealing: Monday, January 16th Pre-Trip Meeting: No pre-trip meeting Start your Spring Semester off by experiencing Beaver Island Trail in the snow! During this excursion you will learn how to use snowshoes, hike in the snow beside the Mississippi River, and experience the quiet beauty this nearby treasure has to offer in winter. Estimated trip duration: 10am to 1pm

Apostle Island National Lakeshore When: Saturday, February 11th Cost: $40 Where: Russel, WI Registration Deadline: February 3rd Pre-Trip Meeting: 5pm on Thursday, February 9th Apostle Islands National Lakeshore is a U.S. National Lakeshore consisting of 21 islands on the northern tip of Wisconsin on the shore of Lake Superior. It is known for its collection of historic lighthouses, sandstone sea caves, a few old-growth remnant forests, and natural animal habitats. Meals will be provided Estimated trip duration: 5am to 8pm

Spring Break National Park Road Trip When: Thursday, March 3rd - Sunday, March 11th Cost: $600 Where: Missouri, Arkansas, Texas, New Mexico, and more! Registration Deadline: Monday, January 23rd Pre-Trip Meeting: 5pm on Thursday, February 16th Can you see yourself on a road trip covering multiple states and national parks? Take a picture beside the St. Louis Arch. Ride a sled down the White Sands of New Mexico. Hike trails in Arkansas’ Hot Spring National Park! Join us for our second annual National Park Road Trip where you will see beautiful sites, meet new friends, and dare we say… find warmer weather? And so much more fun on this exciting adventure! Meals, lodging, and transportation provided. Estimated trip duration: Who’s counting?! It’s Spring Break!

Hiking and BBQ at Gooseberry Falls When: Sunday, April 9th Cost: $20 Where: Two Harbors, MN Registration Deadline: Monday, April 3rd Pre-Trip Meeting: 5pm on Thursday, April 6th Gooseberry Falls State Park is a State Natural area that includes rich woods, forest ravines, low cascades, springs, and beautiful waterfalls. We will hike the 2-4 mile moderate trails and hang out at the waterfalls. After the hike we will visit Lake Superior and BBQ at this location while taking pictures and relaxing. Estimated trip duration: 6am to 6pm

Campus Rec's Aquatic Facilities include an indoor pool and a driving platform. Whether you are interested in relaxing by the pool, joining friends for a game of pool basketball, or swimming laps for exercise, our aquatic facilities offer the space and flexibility for a wide range of activities. For more information, and open swim hours, visit the campus recreation website. To enter the swimming pool on the second floor, you need a valid campus recreation membership. You will be provided with a pool pass each visit.

Women only Weights In an effort to increase women participation and engagement in the fitness center, campus recreation would like for you to join Women only Weights (WOW) program, as an option for female students, faculty, and staff. It serves an excellent introduction to the fitness center. Classes will be on the below dates from 8 p.m - 9 p.m. This class will run for 4 weeks and teaches women proper weight-lifting etiquette, technique and routine. The goals of Women only Weights are to assist women in improving their posture, increasing their strength, and losing body mass. They will see positive transformation to their body. COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS This year, the department of Campus Recreation and Residential Life have a partnership for mental and physical health through community service projects. we are calling on all the students, faculty, and staff to make these great events a success.

"Plant a Seed for Success" September 13, 2022 (Location: Campus-Wide) Planting a seed means taking the small steps to explore learning skills and watch the plant grow. It means learning one new skill, taking the first initiative. Responsibility, initiative, and independent work will lead to growth with the seed and in the classroom.

"Dolls for Children" November 14 - December 14, 2022 (Location: Campus Recreation Office) Please join us for our Dolls for Children toy program. We are facilitating a campus-wide doll drive in partnership with the SCSU University community. The Boys & Girls Club and youth programs in the SCSU community will benefit from your donations.

"Postcards for Parents" January 19, 2023 (Location: Campus-Wide) Join us in sending a postcard to your family members. Let them know how 2023 has started for you here on campus. Tell them you love them and that you look forward to a great semester.

"Campus Recreation Clean-Up" April 10, 2023 (Location: Campus Rec) Campus Recreation Campus Clean-Up Day will be help build community service and Huskie Pride. This spring students, faculty, and staff will volunteer making sure the campus is litter-free.

We look for our campus participation in these important partnerships. Additionally, Campus Recreation and Residential Life would like to thank you for facilitating a sense of connection between the area youth and the SCSU campus.

Nutrition Minutes We are looking to make the campus knowledgeable of dietitian goals and lead healthier lives/days on campus. The nutrition minutes will develop trusting partnerships through healthy eating here at SCSU. Student, faculty, and staff will learn about health concerns, goals, dietary restrictions, and preferences and work with them to create a healthier nutrition daily snacks. They may also participate in demonstrations or seminars to inform the campus about nutrition and promote healthier eating habits in their daily lives.
