FOOD FOR girlTHOUGHT scouts of san gorgonio

BE YOUR EXCEPTIONAL, STRONG, PERFECTLY IMPERFECT, FUN AND AMAZING SELF!

I am proud of you. This year has not been easy for so many “very” interesting reasons, yet here you still are. This year has been many things; challenging, aggravating, sad, but it has also been interesting, introspective and a time of change and family.

In this issue of Food for Thought I want to speak to you about claiming your joy and owning your worth. If this pandemic taught us only one thing, let us hope it was “my worth has value”, “my time has value” and “I have found myself, and I like me”. We know this was not the case for everyone. As such I thought it would be good to send some love and inspiration to lift you up. Modeling good mental health is important. Look in the mirror every day and say, “I AM AMAZING, I HAVE VALUE” or whatever mantra lifts you up. Remind yourself that self-care is important to you and to those around you, and wanting this is not selfish. The more you say it, the more you’ll start to believe it. Did you know when YOU start believing it those around you emulate and model self love.

Here’s a few reminders to you from me: ♥  Each one of you is exceptional. Each different and unique and special. Find the thing you love the most about yourself and make that your cape of strength. ♥  Use your own brain, know your worth. ♥  One step in front of the other, scary or unknown, you can do this. ♥  Someone else’s opinion does not diminish your self worth. ♥  B elieve in yourself or no one will, MOST IMPORTANTLY you. ♥  Be your own super hero! ♥  You’re allowed to be sad, frightened—even scared. Use that to help power your strength. ♥  Every single day is a brand new day and you being in this world matters. You matter! You have ALWAYS mattered! You’ve got this. ♥  MY TIME is valuable and how I use it is up to me. I will use my time as the precious commodity it is, doing things that fill me with purpose and joy rather than to simply be “busy”. We want you to remember how much you matter. We have also found that we do not want to go back to “busy.” You will see throughout the pages of this edition that things have become streamlined to honor peoples’ time and efforts. Also, we have curated a set of inspirational stickers, available in our retail shop. A visual reminder that YOU are exceptional. Continue to breathe deeply, releasing slowly, whenever possible. Believing in self, finding out how incredible YOU are and soaring is what I wish for you always. May you sparkle so brightly it can be seen from the sky,

Elizabeth “ E” Locke-Thomas Chief of Mission Delivery

A new year, a new cookie season, a new way of doing things! We have all spent the last several months adapting to new and different ways of accomplishing our everyday tasks. We have also been rearranging our priorities and practicing compassion as we become more aware of the experiences and challenges faced by others. As we continue to adjust while patiently waiting for the world to resemble the normal we remember, we continue to employ new procedures and strategies to find our success. Those of you that participated in the 2020 Fall Program got a preview of just how some of these work. For the 2021 Cookie Program there will be several new opportunities available to our girls and troops to boost their marketing and visibility in this digital world.

Devon Spira Director of Entrepreneurial Program

Be kind to yo

We know this year will be different than we are used to, but you can be confident that GSSGC, GSUSA and ABC Bakers are all working towards helping you Be Amazing, reach your goals and continue to find success so that our communities can continue to benefit without interruption from our Girl Scout’s service and mission to make the world a better place.

Customers will now be able to prepay for girl delivery orders placed online, allowing for contactless delivery, and the online portal will open up earlier to help troops move their Initial Orders. There will also be new Troop Links available to drive customers to Virtual Cookie Booths. Additionally, many more opportunities for online marketing, modified booth sales and virtual business partnerships are also in the works to give girls and troops the tools and resources they need to reach their communities.

Girl Scouts Stands Against Racism and Pledges to Work for a Just Society for All At Girl Scouts of the USA, we build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. In this moment of suffering in our nation, Girl Scouts commits to taking action to support Black girls, their families and their communities. We want to reiterate to all girls, volunteers, alums, supporters, families and staff that we do not tolerate racial injustice and we know that Black Lives Matter. We commit to doing all we can, using our collective power, to help create the change in our communities that is long overdue. We will do our part to dismantle systemic racism. We recognize that this is far from easy or fast work, but we are Girl Scouts—we believe in sisterhood, justice and fairness—so we are in it for the long haul. We take action when we see a need and we live by our Girl Scout Law, which demands we seek racial equity for everyone. We teach girls to lead by example, and to that end, we are committed to doing the difficult work to become an antiracist organization. We are making an initial financial investment to partner with experts in the areas of race, inclusion and equity, with a focus on girls and women. This will support the following actions we will take at all levels of our national organization: Leadership. Girl Scouts of the USA is forming a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Taskforce at the national board level to help create an organization that works for all girls, including by ensuring that Black, Indigenous, Latina, and all girls of color feel supported, welcomed and treated with dignity and respect. In addition, we will create a DEI/Racial Justice Steering Committee made up of national staff and Girl Scout council CEOs to help guide and prioritize our work. Staff. This change starts from within, so Girl Scouts commits to strengthening hiring practices that help us reflect the communities we serve. We will also support and train all Girl Scout staff in the areas of diversity, equity and inclusion and pursue in earnest the ongoing work of recognizing and challenging our own biases and internalized racism. Volunteers. The strength of our organization rests among our more than 700,000 dedicated volunteers. We will provide additional resources, training and support to ensure these champions of girls are equipped to serve all girls equitably. Most importantly, Girls. All girls’ voices must be heard. We will provide all girls a place where they feel heard and where they have the resources and support they need to raise their voices and change their corner of the world. We are asking for all Girl Scouts—girls, volunteers, alums, supporters, families, staff, and our suppliers and service providers—to commit to taking action to make the world a more equitable place. We have a lot of work to do—join us.

Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio Council will not tolerate racism in any form. We are committed to providing an anti-racist environment built through meaningful and lasting work in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). What do the terms in DEI mean? What do they mean in the context of Girl Scouting? Diversity is about difference. A group has diversity when the people present (e.g., our organization’s girls, volunteers, staff) reflect differences across socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, physical ability, gender, sexual orientation, age, education, religion, political beliefs, and so on. Different groups reflect different forms and degrees of diversity. Equity is about seeking to give everyone access to the same opportunities while acknowledging that we don’t all start from the same place. Through equitable practices, people are given the support they need to have an experience (e.g., participate in Girl Scouts). Tackling this part of the work requires that we understand the underlying causes of outcome disparities in society. When inclusion is happening, people who are present feel a sense of belonging (e.g., have a voice, hold leadership positions, feel Girl Scouts is for them). In the words of inclusion strategist, social commentator, and author Verna Myers, “Diversity is being asked to the party; inclusion is being asked to dance.” While a truly inclusive group is necessarily diverse, a diverse group may or may not be inclusive. For more information, please see our Volunteer Policies & Procedures on gssgc.org

Set your imagination free and show your Girl Scout pride for diversity, equity and inclusion! We are inviting all girl members to create a unique patch. Your design could be chosen for GSSGC’s 2021 Council Diversity Patch!

OPERATING HOURS

Welcome to the 2021 Cookie Program! I hope that, like me, you are If there is one thing the Cookie Program teaches us year after year it is perseverance. Girl Scout Pride

Booth sale rules say you must be in at least a Girl Scout t-shirt and vest/sash/smock to be running a legal cookie booth, but a full uniform represents this mission, represents you, and ensures the public sees proud young women. When you wear your uniform with pride, the world notices. For our Khaki crew, this full uniform now includes the lilac/lavender or blue shirt and/or the new dark green bottoms, of course, the khaki and white are always full. So we made a patch for our staff and teams to have with them at all times to honor you with when they find you wearing your full uniform at your cookie booth. Plus 5 winners, one per region, will win $1,000 in I Cares on the last day of the cookie program!

Did you know that Troop Leaders can use the Volunteer Toolkit Finance Tab to track and manage troop finances right now? Use this amazing tool throughout the year to assist in keeping your troop bank account organized. Planning and budgeting the finances of the troop or group is an ongoing process that requires disclosure to all members and input from the girls, troop leadership and parents/guardians. Troop budgets include dues and proceeds from the annual fall and cookie product program and troop money earning activities, where applicable. Girls must be involved in troop finances. That includes planning the budget, estimating costs of activities and materials, and management of the troop funds, when age-appropriate. Also, be sure to budget your troop’s renewal for the 2021-2022 year when planning for your Cookie earnings! Friendly Reminder: Annual Troop Finance Reports are required and due June 15th. This year, as an added bonus, if you submit your Troop Finance Report by June 15, 2021, your troop will receive a 20% off coupon to use at any of our Council Girl Scout Shops (subject to terms & conditions).

If you have any questions or concerns regarding troop finances, please contact customercare@gssgc.org and we will connect you with your Troop Support Specialist.

Less time planning, more time connecting with your troop! Introducing the Troop Leader Blueprint! Troop Leaders make the Girl Scout Leadership Experience happen for our Girl Scouts, and this year brings added challenge and anxiety as our volunteers work to keep girls and families engaged. The newly created Troop Leader Blueprint provides a home base for accessing all the national and local assets created to help our troops meet this challenge and more effectively fulfill their volunteer leadership roles. With the Troop Leader Blueprint, you'll find tips and resources for safe in-person and virtual meetings, as well as badges, Journeys, and activities for every grade level. All made especially for today’s constantly changing world. No matter where or how your troop meets this year, the Troop Leader Blueprint has the tools you need to have the best year ever.

Coming August 2021

Don’t Be Late!

Have you submitted your nominations for Regional, Council or National Awards? The closing date will be here before you know it. Nominations accepted from August 15 – December 15, 2020 are for services provided October 1, 2019 through September 30, 2020. No extensions will be offered this year.

Bet you didn’t know that the Recognition Nomination system is also where you nominate our Girl Members to be considered for the Margaret Scout Service Award. As of the 2020 Award year, each region is eligible to have the best candidate selected to receive this historical award. Any eligible 7th – 12th grader may be nominated. It’s also the place you nominate a deserving young woman to be considered for Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio Girl Scout of the Year. Awarded to a single member, all eligible 9th – 12th graders may be nominated.

Nomination Reminders

I don’t know about you, but when nominations open in August each year, my most recent memories of amazing volunteers is sometimes limited to January through May. Wouldn’t it be

great to have a way to remember the first half of the year? Guess what? You can. Effective November 1, 2020 a link will be provided on the Adult Recognitions and Awards page of our Council website where you can log a short note about an amazing observation, event, interaction with any member of our Organization and hit “submit”. The survey will be open from October 1st through July 31st and these notes will cover the time period of October 1st through August 1st each year. When the nominations open on August 1st you’ll receive an email with a short note reminding you of the remarkable event you were a part of so that you can nominate a deserving volunteer. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FTDL668

Silver Award Training Required Effective October 1, 2020, Silver Award Training will be required of all Cadettes, grades 6th – 8th, wishing to pursue their Silver Award. This training is available online at this time and may also be offered live online in the near future. We hope to be able to offer live in-person courses soon.

General Training Your volunteer team is working to have training be even more accessible as quickly as they can. Soon, we’ll have more options online to complete training that may be required for in-person activities in the spring, if allowed. These new trainings will cover overnights and extended travel.

10-Year, Graduating Senior, Silver and Gold Awards Opening December 1, 2020 will be a link to submit your daughter if she’s ready to earn her 10 Year pin – that’s ten years of girl membership. This link will remain open until April 30th. This is also where you let Council know if your daughter will be a Graduating Senior. Only those who complete the link by April 30th will be provided with their 10-Year pin and/or a Graduation Cord to wear in photographs. Keep an eye on the Adult Recognitions and Awards page of our Council website, make sure you’ve provided Council with a valid email that you check regularly. The Awards department will be sending out emails to all registered 9th-12th graders towards the end of November inviting you to complete the link. We’ll also be sending out information via social media and through your local service unit. If your daughter also happens to be a Silver or Gold Award recipient, you’ll indicate that in the link, but higher award recipients are tracked by the Awards department and will automatically be a part of the celebration.

girl scout of the year Megan Sorokowski

Megan enjoys teaching younger girls and their leaders about Girl Scout skills she has learned. She has worked with them on badges and journeys - first planning and organizing the day and then executing all day events for this. An example of this is hosting “Journey In A Day” for Juniors, hosting “Camping Skills Badge Day” at Council, and being on staff for Junior Jam. Megan engages with leaders to get them to be more hands-on. When teaching girls challenging skills, like lashing, she explains how important it is for the adults to master the skills to be able to practice and support the girls. She talks to the adults to get them comfortable and truly encourages them. Megan seems to really enjoy teaching younger girls. She always impresses with her ability to engage and encourage the girls. She also engages the leaders and adults and encourages them along the way. Megan has served as a role model for girls in the region and Council by setting an example and displaying the Girl Scout way in everything she does. Megan is naturally kind, respectful and willing to assist without being asked. While serving as a program aide at a camp out, Megan assisted troops with setting up their tents and camping area. Her leadership skill was displayed not as she set up the tent but when she led the girls and taught them how to set the tent up themselves. The same activity empowered the adult leaders (also on their first camping trip) by providing them the tools and resources to complete the task. From a community partner, “I happen to be an employee of the agency that Megan is completing her Gold Award project with. The city liaisons met with Megan two times, first initially identifying the project concept and second to hear Megan’s metamorphosis of the project. Her level of detail and professionalism was so outstanding we believe she could assist in developing other professional programs and presentations.”

Margaret Scout Award Carson Schumacher Central

Carson is a staple in our Council. She can be seen at Council events helping out with everything she can. She shows all girls that you can help out no matter what limitations you might have. A volunteer stated, “I have had the pleasure of working alongside Carson on many occasions, and every time she comes up to the kids to say hi, not just my kids but all kids. She makes them feel welcome. It’s a true inspiration.”

Abigail Cheley Low Desert

Abby’s work with the Council’s Girl Reporter program benefited the entire Council. Her articles were accessible to girls from all over. She showed true Girl Scout courage in approaching strangers at events to interview and then share her articles so publicly. Her Silver Award project working with students from several different schools and creating a website that was shared with students outside of California. As an avid STEM enthusiast, she volunteered her Saturday mornings at robotics workshops that taught younger children beginning computer science skills. Through her involvement in National Charity League Abby has volunteered at several community non-profit organizations.

Elle Hubach Central West

Starting out working as staff at Junior Jam and then attending CSAT through her final year of High School, Ellie was kind of sad. She loves Girl Scouts and cannot imagine it ending. She wants to become a Girl Scout leader and has already figured out how she will balance college and having a troop of her own. She tells everyone just how much Girl Scouts has helped her open up and that she would not be President of Key Club in High School if not for Girl Scouts.

Caitlin Stark High Desert

From a parent, “Caitlin always makes my daughter feel part of scouts. She helps bridge the gap between hearing girls and my daughter Emma, who is deaf.” Whether it’s at Gen Cyber, CSAT or events held all over council Caitlin always includes Emma. She interprets for her and also teaches other scouts and adults some ASL so they can communicate with Emma. Assisting at many events in the High Desert, Caitlin is always kind, friendly and courteous. She has even assisted others with their cookie sales by offering tips for their booths.

Cassandra Campos Southwest

Cassandra is always willing to lend a helping hand at other troop meetings, regional events, and Council events, or help out at service area meetings. Leaders in our area feel comfortable inviting Cassandra to their meetings to motivate their girls to earn their higher awards and talk to them about what her projects were; teach them a skill, work on a badge, or motivate those Cadettes to stay in Girl Scouts. She tells them about all the great things they can do with their experiences. She volunteers at Mega Drops, Junior Jams, PA’s for several events, and is a Council delegate.

2020 Adult Recognitions Council Leader of the Year

Regional Leaders of the Year

Bridget Foster is the current Low Desert Regional Leader of the Year and she is still going strong in her leadership of Low Desert Girl Scout Troop 579. She leads a very active troop. I am always amazed and in awe of her ability to multitask badge work and activities with the troop. Our troop comes up with ideas and Bridget is awesome at helping the girls figure out how to incorporate it into Girl Scout programming. The girls in the troop wanted to do community service projects. Bridget coordinated with the girls: building stockings for Foster Children for Christmas, gathering items and building hygiene kits for Martha’s Village for the homeless, and writing encouraging letters to children with cancer to help lift their spirits. I love to see that she doesn’t just do something once with them. She takes an experience and builds on it. She is always thinking of what else they can learn while they are doing something fun while volunteering. Up next is guiding the girls through the Silver Award process. Higher Girl Awards are always on Bridget’s mind. As a leader, she can see the importance of not only the project itself, but the entire process of the award steps and how the skills learned will impact their futures. Pre-teens and teens can be a tricky age. I see how Bridget effectively continues to communicate with the girls and if any teasing or mean spirited behavior starts, she is able to work with the girls so they see the behavior and learn that it isn’t heathy. Teaching them to recognize and stop certain behaviors will benefit their futures as well. As she encourages the girls to take larger roles within the troop and at school, she herself has taken on larger roles and she leads by example.

No matter what time in the day or what is going on all around us, she is constantly helping the girls improve themselves in every way possible. She always uplifts the girls within the troop as well as girls out of the troop. You also can’t forget the parents and Amanda never does. Her random acts of kindness are legion, like putting together baskets of goodies for a mom in our troop going through cancer treatment, to making get well baskets for a girl in our troop who had to have emergency surgery. These things show the girls by example the benefits of the gift of giving. Amanda is constantly showing all of us that no matter what is going on in life, always hold your head up, keep it high and strive on to be the best you. Amanda McKitterick has proven to be an organized leader who is passionate about creating an environment where all of our Girl Scouts are able to grow and develop into empowered young women. As our troop has grown to include multiple age levels, Amanda has made sure that she has fostered a sense of sisterhood and mentorship for our Cadettes towards our Brownies.

Amanda McKitterick Central West

Christy Carson Central

Christy is such an amazing Girl Scout leader. You can often see posts of activities that her troop participates in, skills such as sewing that will come in handy for a lifetime, community service opportunities she has her troop participate in, and AMAZING ceremonies that she puts on for her girls. Part of being a great leader is making each girl feel special and to praise and support that girl. Christy does that and more. Plus, she is crazy fun to be around! Christy is very active within her troop and encourages her girls to take on leadership roles. She is the first to volunteer at area and regional events, and offer ideas to help other leaders engage their girls.

Jennifer Sessions Southwest

My mom, Jennifer Sessions is one of the most considerate, loving, accepting people you could know! Not only is she an amazing mom, but she cares for her peers and sister Girl Scouts! I enjoy each year in Girls Scouts as she lets me experience new things at events and troop trips. As crazy as Cookie season is, she handles it like a boss, willing to take up any challenge. I couldn’t ask for a better leader as she is hardworking and very respectful, as well as taking the time out of her day to help you succeed. I hope to grow up to become a leader and amazing woman just like her! Jen makes everyone feel welcomed and appreciated. I couldn’t ask for a better role-model than her! Jen always takes time to teach the girls what is necessary and in a way that little girls understand. She leads by example and shows the girls how to be good leaders by letting them do the work.

Jontona Estrada Low Desert

Mrs. Jontona has been my Girl Scout leader since Kindergarten and she has made a big impact on my life. For example, she has shown me that even if somebody is being mean, to just try to be kind and considerate. She has taught me the Girl Scout Law and how to follow it the best I can. Every year, we do something at the Senior Center, like board game nights and caroling. And the seniors love seeing us and playing with us. That has made a big impact on them because they don’t get to see kids that often, so the times we go to see them are special days to us and to the seniors. These are just a few ways that Mrs. Jontona has helped me, as well as the community. In addition, I know she has always been so supportive of other leaders, always able to answer questions and motivate leaders and girls--especially if they are struggling.

Mary Martin High Desert

Mary Martin has been a Girl Scout leader for many years. She attends every Girl Scout event in Barstow and the High Desert. She is always ready to lend a hand and works the Mega Drop events year after year. She is one of the first volunteers to arrive and one of the last volunteers to leave. She transports her Girl Scouts into town for special events such as cookie training, caroling, and sister troop events. Mary has been involved in Girl Scouting for over twenty years. Currently she and her co-leader are running a multi-age troop, Daisies to Ambassadors, in Yermo, California. Mary is active outside of her individual local troop, as she coordinates Christmas caroling events throughout Barstow, sister-troop events throughout the High Desert, and attends monthly Area meetings. Mary is always helping at different events including the Cookie Mega Drops and Fall Product Mega Drops.

Program Update A letter from the Senior Director of Program:

My name is Joyce Knoll and I am the Senior Director of Program at the Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio. I have been a Girl Scout since 1st grade when I joined my Brownie troop, so for a really, really long time. At that time Brownies was the first level. I am not sure why my Mom decided to sign me up, as my best friend didn’t do Girl Scouts, but I can tell you today, every one of her girls are in Girl Scouts. For me today, I attribute most of my success to my time participating in the Girl Scout program. As a young girl, I was painfully shy and unwilling to speak to anyone except my brothers who were willing spokesmen for me. Through Girl Scouts I participated in all the same type of activities that our girls do today, except online was not a thing. Through these programs I learned to speak to others, work with others who might be different, manage finances (my own and others), plan for life including all it throws at you, and more. Part of the reason Girl Scouts was so great for me was because I participated both in my troop, and in what I call, Council and Service Unit level programs. Things like camp, leadership conferences, events, series, etc. As I got older, I was a program aide (volunteer) at any event that would have me. I helped other troops with activities or meetings and generally participated in everything I could through our movement. Girl Scouts is still the same today. It is a safe, all-girl environment designed to help girls find their space in the world. I encourage every family to support their leaders in a troop and to seek out other opportunities for girls to participate in these great programs. Currently in our Council we have girls participating in a variety of programs including troop meetings (led by volunteers), clubs, a few single day events, free Facebook lives, and lots of individual programs for girls to participate in such as, programs-in-a-box that girls can do at home at their own pace. With the pandemic, the plans for Girl Scout Program continues to change, so as opposed to listing program opportunities here, I encourage you to find out more by visiting our website at:

gssgc.org/virtual or gssgc.org/calendar What we do know is online programming is here to stay. We found through evaluations and surveys that girls are receiving the types of outcomes we desire; the same ones that we have been achieving for generations. They are developing a strong sense of self, positive values, seeking challenges, healthy relations, and community problem solving skills. In the winter and spring, our plan is to continue offering the program that was developed in the fall and to add more specialized programs for troops or groups. Our hope is to also start adding in the in-person programs like camp that we have all come to love; we just don’t know when yet. Do visit our website or sign-up for Girl Scout Program 411 newsletter to find out more and keep up to date on programs in the Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio:

Everyone that loves camp (and who doesn’t?) was devastated by the need to cancel all summer camp programs due to the coronavirus pandemic. Just because our magnificent, magical Skyland Ranch was closed to camping doesn’t mean that exciting things haven’t been happening. You will see from the report on the facing page that many improvements have been completed or are in the works while campers were gone. We hope you will be inspired by the work that’s being done to support Skyland Ranch with a donation. Making necessary improvements is an expensive proposition, but the rewards for you and our girls are immense. And as “stay at home” orders are rescinded, the craving for outdoor experiences will be greater than ever. Please go to www.gssgc.org/donateform and make a gift supporting Skyland Ranch today! Thank you.

Wishaven Cabins have undergone a complete renovation, with new siding, double-pane windows, metal doors and jams, radiant heat panels and lighting. A new accessible parking space and ramp have been added. Next project: new restroom/shower facility.

Duncan Lodge Solar Array – Applied Medical provided full funding for the installation of an expandable solar array that will offset the cost of electric usage on all of Skyland. We are walking our talk in moving to renewable energy. Duncan Lodge Landscaping Phase 1 A precast concrete split rail fence was installed to define and protect a buffer area around the Lodge. Smokey, aka Leslee Temple, created a planting design and list of drought tolerant plants to use. Planting is scheduled for Spring 2021; watch for opportunities to participate in this project. NRCS Fuel Management completed a multi-year project to manage the brush and fuels density on camp and included a fuels break that will help protect camp from potential fire hazards.

Directional Signs New durable metal driving and walking directional signs have been produced and installed thanks to Troop 2400. Among plans for the near future, as funding becomes available, is the conversion of the lower level of the Silver Barn into an Environmental Learning Lab that will house multiple teaching kiosks funded by U.S. Bank. We look forward to the day everyone can come back to camp. Until then you can track all the updates at camp at: https://www.skylandranchcamp.org/blog

Camp WiWoCa: Lodge – Gone are the days of dim lighting and the loud buzz of old fluorescent. New LED lights have been installed and a fresh coat of paint applied throughout the building.

New Lower Restroom Roof will ensure the longevity of this building for many more years.

Camp Azalea Trails: Though the public cannot access camp due to road damage that occurred February 14, 2018, our Rangers check on Azalea Trails on a monthly basis. We are glad to report that all is well and once the road is fixed by the US Forest Service, we will reopen this camp.

Girl Scouts San Gorgonio Council (GSSGC) Daisy Society welcomes visionary donors who are passionate about our mission to “build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.” Our donors uniquely and specifically support growing up, giving back and leading forward. They are investors in creating everything that is possible for our girls who are already successful go-getters, innovators, risk-takers and leaders. Funds contributed by Daisy Society members support Council membership, programs, camp properties and specific annual priorities identified by GSSGC leadership. This philanthropic vision allows our Council to quickly pivot to meet the changing or unexpected needs of our girls. The Gift of Girl Scouting is the 2020 funding priority identified by Council leadership. This initiative provides membership support for girls who are adversely affected by the economic conditions resulting from the COVID 19 pandemic. Ensuring that girls can start or continue their membership in Girl Scouts is critically important. The Gift of Girl Scouts offers financial aid for Girl Scouts of the USA membership fees, program materials, supplies and tools needed to actively participate in virtual and in-person programs. Daisy Society members and leadership donors invest in girls so they can change the world. Join us in making the Girl Scout experience possible for all girls in Riverside and San Bernardino counties.
