Scottish Opera during The Games The eyes of the world are on Glasgow this Summer as the city hosts the 2014 Commonwealth Games. We’ve got a busy programme of activity to showcase our work during the two weeks The Games are in town. Sir David McVicar’s exquisite production of Madama Butterfly returns for three further performances at the Theatre Royal in Glasgow. If you have friends staying, make sure to bring them along and show them what Scotland’s national opera company has to offer. We’ve also commissioned Scottish novelist Alexander McCall Smith to write a new family opera which will have its world premiere as part of the Glasgow 2014 Cultural Programme. Anamchara – Songs of Friendship is a celebration of community made in partnership with Commonwealth countries around the globe.
