PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
It’s my pleasure, as President of Scottish Bakers, to welcome you to the 23rd World Championship Scotch Pie Awards. We were so disappointed when we were forced to cancel last year’s awards lunch, so it’s even more of a delight to be hosting our first in person awards in three years! This is a unique competition which brings together butchers, bakers and other pie makers over a common goal – to find Scotland’s best pie!
Much has happened since we were last together under one roof and over the last three years, we have seen the resilience of the bakery and butchery trades, coming through Covid and now having to deal with soaring energy and ingredients costs. You should all be applauded for the efforts in serving your local communities. I would like to offer my sincere thanks to the organising committee and the team at Bakers House who, together with head judge, Ian Nelson, put in an incredible effort to ensure the competition is run smoothly.
Thanks must also be paid to the team of over 50 volunteer judges who tasted close to 500 products to help us reach the final list of winners. Well done to all of today’s worthy winners and our 2023 World Scotch Pie Champion. I hope you all benefit from the publicity this competition can generate.
Ian McGhee President, Scottish Bakers

MESSAGE OF CONGRATULATIONS
BAKO Group is once again honoured to be a part of the World Championship Scotch Pie Awards as Awards Partner.
The New Year at BAKO just wouldn’t be the same without the hugely enjoyable awards lunch that rings it in. Having this as one of the first dates in our social calendar is a great reminder of the amazing talent demonstrated every year from our bakers and butchers. There are few opportunities for us to meet with and celebrate the hard work, passion and skill of our friends in the industry. This level of commitment to quality was on full display in all the entries during the judging back in November.
Congratulations to the category winners and entrants for your well-deserved recognition and long may your successes continue.
Paul Long Managing Director, BAKO Northern & Scotland
