“Our automated and accountable vending solution is already proving highly successful – producing less waste, driving efficiency and saving money.” Inventor-e’s iVendScale Plus machine was selected for this installation. It is a scale-based inventory management vending system providing secure access and dispensing of products. Users can access products quickly and easily without having to manually log or update inventory. To minimise time spent waiting for the allocation of products during work time, items are accessed using an ID card. Stock data is passed instantly to Sourcerer, the cloud-based inventory and asset management software, to automatically generate a new order for replenishment. Dean Henry, CEO at Inventor-e, said; “Our industrial vending solutions puts the right item in the right place at the right time. Ensuring optimum productivity while preventing work stoppages and controlling costs. Sourcerer, enables customers to effectively manage and control usage of material across all Inventor-e solutions and can also be used in mobile and storeroom environments with the SmartStores app, as well as vending solutions, providing real time company-wide visibility and control of materials.” If you want to know more about vending solutions, contact salesenquiries@scott-direct.com

Seahawk shielding the NHS

Shield360 is an award-winning garment brokering and PPE solutions business, changing the shape of the industry through its focus on quality, innovation and sustainability.

STITCHED UP AT SEAHAWK We’ve invested in two new Tajima embroidery machines at Seahawk, our specialist workwear and protective clothing manufacturer. A highly efficient eight-head machine and a single-head high performance machine have been added to the fleet ensuring a wide range of both large and small items of various material types and thicknesses can be embroidered.

Samantha Carr, Production Supervisor at Seahawk, said: “These new machines are a fantastic addition to our UK manufacturing facility. They bring a wide range of benefits with a particular focus on efficiency including digital display and design input for faster changeovers, higher speed stitching, and consistently high quality of embroidery, as well as far less downtime which is welcomed by our brilliant embroidery machinists!” The new machines are fully networked with a barcode reading function and pulse software for in-house digitisation. Whilst onsite for the installation of the new machinery, the engineering team also overhauled and rebuilt the existing Tajima which has ensured that is performing at maximum capacity. During 2020, as part of its response to the Covid-19 pandemic, Shield360 worked together with a number of UK factories to supply reusable healthcare garments into the NHS. Seahawk was one of the first factories to be on-boarded for this project. As a specialist manufacturer of protective workwear and professional safety clothing, Seahawk was ideally placed to support the contract – providing a fast response with clear and regular communication. Natalie Wilson, managing director at Shield360, said: “Seahawk was flexible in helping us meet specific requirements such as packing by scrub set rather than by garment; providing the delivery paperwork required by the client, and ensuring weekly deliveries of requested sizes so that goods were available as soon as possible.” Shield360 coordinated regular deliveries of fabrics into the Seahawk warehouse to ensure that the agreed production schedule was maintained throughout the 18-week plan. By working closely together, Shield360 was able to plan regular deliveries to its client from week one. With weekly garment updates being provided, and deliveries booked in advance, the experienced Seahawk team ensured a smooth-running operation. From its UK manufacturing facility in Fife, Seahawk manufactured almost 8000 garments for this project – maintaining consistently good quality and regular communication throughout. Natalie added: “The Seahawk team was flexible and able to meet all of the demanding requirements for this project to ensure the successful on-time delivery each week, achieving the quality and quantity needed every time. I would have no hesitation in recommending Seahawk, and continue to actively look for more production projects for this excellent UK manufacturing facility.”
