About the Community Economic Development Conference The 2015 Community Economic Development Conference to be held in Charleston, SC August of 2015 is an annual event designed to increase the ability of organizations to build affordable housing, conduct workforce development programs, teach financial literacy, grow community leadership and create greater impact in their communities by raising the wealth of their constituents. The 2015 Community Economic Development Conference will put considerable emphasis on strategies to grow local economies and create local jobs in South Carolina. This conference traditionally attracts more than 300 participants along with national, regional and state experts on housing development, job creation, entrepreneurship and community-based development. Sponsors for the 2015 CED Conference have the opportunity to present their products, resources and services to leaders in the community economic development sector which include non-profit and for profit developers, units of local government, state government, local municipalities, banks, foundations, small business owners and utility companies.

Clements is also Chair of the ACE Commission on Leadership; co-chairs the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Advisory Council on Innovation and Entrepreneurship (NACIE); is a member of the Business Higher Education Forum; serves as academic co-chair of the Automotive Sector of the Council on Competitiveness-Energy and Manufacturing Competitiveness Partnership (EMCP); and is national co-chair of APLU’s Energy Forum. He previously served on the U.S. Commerce Department’s Innovation Advisory Board, where he was the only university president in the country to serve in that role.
