> Setting Sail: Charting Your Own Course The School of Business hosted its inaugural Business Week, February 24-27, 2014 at the Charles L. Sewall Center on the Robert Morris University campus. Business Week is designed to help students prepare for their future careers in business with this year’s theme being “Setting Sail: Charting Your Own Course.” Programming included 21 panel discussions and presentations by members of the business community with topics focused on diversity, mentoring and leadership, interviewing and consideration of job offers, professional dress, personal finance, and Business ethics and entrepreneurship. Approximately 1,700 students took part in events over four days. A key highlight of Business Week was the keynote address by alumnus Rande Somma entitled “Navigating Your Personal Journey.” Somma,

former CEO of Johnson Controls, had a profound effect on students. It got them thinking about their future and what it takes to be successful. Dean John Beehler was impressed with the success of Business Week. “It was amazing that Business Week was embraced immediately by our student body in its inaugural year. The student leaders who planned the sessions and our faculty and staff motivated students to attend the many events focused on career preparation and planning.” Students’ reactions to Business Week were extremely positive. Student Alexa Sarsfield of the American Marketing Association observed that, “Students were very pleased with Business Week and are already looking forward to next year’s events.”
