Nataaqnaq Fisheries Inc. is focused on managing offshore fishing vessels. The fishing vessels have their home harbor in Bay Roberts, Newfoundland but they also discharge in Greenland when fishing in the northernmost arctic waters. All the fishing vessels freeze the products on board and are state of the art factory vessels. Ocean Choice International Inc. (OCI) was formed in 2000 as the parent company for a number of operating companies already existing in the Newfoundland fishing industry. OCI manages several processing plants, two factory freezer trawlers and is engaged in several Canadian and International partnerships. OCI is a major processor of Snow Crab, Northern Shrimp, Cod, Redfish, Turbot, Lobster and Mussels. Pêcheries Danamé inc. owns a quota of 475 000 kilos of shrimp (pandalus borealis) . The nordic shrimp trawler “L’INTRÉPIDE no3” is a 19 metres steel stern trawler, fishing in Eastern Canada; Québec and Newfoundland. Newfound Resources Ltd, based in Newfoundland, Canada, is one of the largest fishing companies in Canada dealing with coldwater shrimp. We catch and produce approximately 12000 tons annually, mainly caught by our vessel the Newfound Pioneer. Our main fishing areas are located along the east coast of Canada, stretching from Newfoundland to Davis Strait, as well as Ungava Bay in Northern Canada. Our office operates with a staff of 10 people, dealing with sales and marketing, vessel operations, and administration. We also have a sales office in Qingdao China. The National Fishery Technical Extension Center (NFTEC) is an affiliated organ under the Ministry of Agriculture. It was officially established in 1990. NFTEC’s function - implements the Ministry of Agriculture’s policies and strategy of fishery technology extension; - gives guidance to fishery technology extension system and team construction all over the country; - organizes the implementation of
demonstration and extension for scientific achievements, and technologies; - introduces, demonstrates and promotes new aquatic species and advanced technologies from abroad; - organize the implementation of monitoring aquatic animal disease, and forecast, preventive treatment - give technical guidance to management of aquatic prototypes and good stains; and carry out technical training. Today we manage vessel operations in Greenland and Canadian waters with a yearly catch of approximate 20,000 ton of shrimp.
Troolari Olympos Oy is a Finnish family-owned company established in 1993. The company trawls, sells fish domestically and exports it abroad. We have two trawlers with RSW-tanks and an EUstandards conforming modern sorting plant. Our freezing plant started production in 2006. The freezing capacity is about 60 t/day and there's cold storage for 500 t. Extension for freezing plant was completed in 2010. L.V. Fishing is of the biggest trawlers in the Finnish fishing fleet. It was founded in 2010. Catching about 8000-9000t per year and growing. 8 employees. One 38m trawler. Capacity 400t of fishmeal fish, fresh about 250t. The company Sonnfish has one 33 meters trawler named Sonnskär and is trawling herring in the Bothnian Sea. We concentrate mainly on foodfish of good quality. O’Hara Corporation has ridden the crests and troughs of the fishing industry for over a century. Starting with one vessel in 1907, founder Francis J O’Hara grew his business into the largest privately owned fishing company in the country during the 1940’s. Moving from generation to generation, currently O’Hara Corporation operates three catcher-processor vessels in the Bering Sea of Alaska, interest in processing operations in China, owns twelve scallop boats in New Bedford, MA, and two herring boats in Rockland, Main Iquique is a four boat fleet of H&G vessels from 50m to 60m in size. All four vessels work the waters off Alaska, from January - November. The vessel S. Doremus operates has done a lot of new gear research over the years. This has led to changes in regulations as well environmental impact reductions.
