OUR COUNTRY  

 

Hi,friends  We’re writing this email to tell you about our country, Greece. Our country has 11.100.000 population. Athens is the capital of Greece. Our country has many high mountains, such as Olympos, Pindos and many others. There are also many rivers and lakes. Some rivers are: Pinios, Aliakmonas, Strymonas, etc. Some lakes are: Trihonida,Prespes and Vegoritida. Our country has a lot of archaeological sights; the Acropolis in Athens is the most known Kisses!!! Ioanna,Rafael,Konstantinos,Jim


NAFPAKTOS, OUR TOWN  

  

Hi ,friends! Nafpaktos is situated in western Greece, opposite Patras . There are a lot of sightseeings in our town . Near Nafpaktos , 10 kilometres away , there is the Rio – Antirrio Bridge , the biggest bridge in Greece. It’s huge! Secondly , the picturesque port in our town and the medieval Castle on the mountain are some very interesting places to visit! The population of our town is quite big – about 20,000 people . The people are very friendly , hospitable and talkative . Nafpaktos is a very special town to visit . We are so happy here ! We don’t want to leave this relaxing place for ever!!! THE WEATHER Greetings from Greece,  We are John, Bill, Violeta and Gabriela and we will tell you about the climate of Greece, as well as the weather of Nafpaktos . Greece has got Mediterranean climate, meaning mild winters and warm, sunny summers . In Nafpaktos the  winters are rainy and cold .The summers are hot but some days are very cloudy ,rainy and cold. OUR SCHOOL   

  

Hi,friends let us tell you about our school. Firstly, it is located near the medieval castle of Nafpaktos. Our school is quite big. There are 17 teachers, 12 for basic Greek education, an English teacher, a French and a German teacher and a Music teacher. In our school there are 265 students. Schools start on 10th of September and end on 15th of June. There is also 15-day Christmas holiday in December and 15 days off in April for Easter holidays. OUR CLASS  

Hi there Bulgarian friends! We are from Greece and we will tell you some things about our classroom. First of all, our class is in the second floor of the building .It is big and painted with blue colour, it has many windows with red curtains. There are 21 pupils 13 boys and 8 girls. Our Greek teacher is Mrs. Chryssa Katsaba and our English teacher is Mrs. Tina Stavraki. Once a week we have lessons with a French/German teacher. Our P.E. teacher is Mr. Thimios Kamoutsis . OUR SCHOOL SUBJECTS 

Dear friends, In school we have lessons of Greek Language, Maths , Geography, History, English, P.E., Music, R.E., Science , Art and Social Education, French or German. We also have 3-4 breaks each day. In the lesson of Greek Language we study texts and poems of Greek literature , we analyze them and learn how to make summaries. In Maths we do calculations and solve equations. In Geography we learn about Europe, mountains , rivers and seas. In History we study the modern history of Greece (1450-2004).In English we learn to read , write and speak English. In P.E. we do sports and we learn about musical instruments in our music lessons. In Science we learn about energy,in R.E. about religion and in Art we learn how to paint. Do you have the same school subjects? Alexandros, Vassilis, Raphaela and Melissa


OUR ENGLISH CLASS  

 

Hi guys,  Let us tell you about a few things about our English lessons and our English teacher. Mrs Tina is the best in the world and she helps us understand our English lessons better. She’s tall and good-hearted. She knows a lot about English and how to teach it to us. Our lessons are a bit difficult , but with her help we can understand them more easily. Now we’re in Unit7 and there are three more lessons to finish the book. We believe the English lessons is very interesting . How about your teacher? Lots of love, Nafsika, Bill, Chris, George.


SCHOOL ACTIVITIES  

 

Hi there! We are the students of the 2nd school of Nafpaktos. Once a month we usually go on school trips! We have been to many beautiful places like: Ancient Delfi, the National History museum of Goulandri, the amazing museum of Patras, the legendery Olympia where the Olympics started and a lot more. We’ve also been to the Acropolis. Last week we went on a tree planting expedition. We have also done some charities. Some weeks ago we collected money for the sick and poor people. We’ve performed some plays too! : The destruction of Smyrni, 25 March(1821) and 28 October National Celebrations, Save the earth play, Christmas songs etc. Why don’t you tell us some of your school activities, trips and charities? HOBBIES  

  

Hi there, How are you? Children in our age have many hobbies. In our country we use to play football, tennis, basketball and we also use to dance and go for walks with our friends. We also like swimming in the summer because in Greece we are surrounded by beautiful seas and beaches. The most important Greek teams are Olympiakos and Panathinaikos. We like travelling in our country very much because there are many archaeological sites and historic places! Bye for now, write us about your hobbies. CLOTHES, FOOD AND SATURDAY NIGHT 

 

Hello friends! Here in Greece we like to eat many kinds of food, like souvlaki, pizza, meat, spaghetti and a lot of fish. Our national food is the bean soup. Because of the Greek economic crisis we don’t have enough money to buy a lot of clothes, but we can buy some. On Saturday night we usually go out with our friends at the cafés in the port of our town and have fun. We usually drink fizzy drinks there. We sometimes eat crepes and ice-cream. Also we eat souvlaki and chips on Saturday night .We go home at ten o’clock. What about you? Write back soon. Michael, Katherine , John and Jim.


MUSIC  

 

Hi there! Let us tell you about the music we like… our names are Aris, Evita and Bessy and we like music a lot. The kinds of music we prefer are pop, rock n’ roll, hip hop, and rap. A lot of our classmates play music, too. In Greece there is a rich variety of traditional and folk music, but we prefer to listen to modern music like pop, hip hop, rap, rock n’ roll and jazz. Kids in our age don’t usually listen to classical music. In our town ,Nafpaktos, there are a lot of musical events such as concerts and musicals,especially in the summer. Our favorites songs are, skyfall, harlem shake,rolling in the deep,opa gagman style and without you. Evita plays the flute and Bessy plays saxophone alto. Our favorite music groups are: one direction, melisses, onirama , rolling stones, bon jovy and maroon 5. We hope you like music too. Write us soon Aris, Bessy and Evita
