Your first step as a Verified Member is to watch the ‘Welcome Tutorial Video’ that appears when you first log-in to your Recruiting Management System. Make sure you watch this video in its entirety! Once familiarized, you should log-in to your RMS at least once a week.

RECRUITING PROFILE The Recruiting Profile is your athletic and academic resume. It’s extremely important that you focus on adding all critical information as soon as it becomes available. This includes obtaining your transcript and raw footage for your highlight video (when available).

The Recruiting Profile will be available to college coaches who search NCSA’s Athletic Recruiting Network and will also be sent to coaches directly. Your Recruiting Profile will be used to evaluate your potential to be a good fit for their program, so be sure to include everything you want a college coach to know about you. It is important to note NCSA requires all critical information be supplied before you are matched with college coaches.

You should try to finish your Recruiting Profile as soon as possible. Make updates at least once a month, after grades come in, before and after season, etc. Be sure your Recruiting Profile is always up-to-date with your most recent information.

TO-DO LIST

TO-DO LIST

TIP : You must be committed to working hard and putting in the maximum effort when it comes to your recruiting. The more you put into it, the more success you will have.

The To-Do List is your online, step-by-step guide to the recruiting process. It provides a curriculum tailored specifically to your sport and graduation year.

Following the To-Do List will ensure you promptly complete all of the necessary steps in the recruiting process, including your required registration with the NCAA Eligibility Center. Missing steps could jeopardize your eligibility or success.

You will receive new tasks on a monthly basis, but can work on them every time you log-in to your RMS. The majority of tasks only take a few minutes!

EDUCATION & GUIDANCE

TIP : If you would like to enhance your membership, you may purchase ala carte items anytime through your Recruiting Management System. Ala carte items include Coaching Sessions, Videos and College Coach Matches.

NCSA will educate and guide you throughout your unique recruiting process. We offer a variety of Recruiting Classes for families to participate in at anytime. Recruiting Classes are held via conference call or webinar, and cover topics like coach communications, financial aid and how to leverage your strengths to obtain more scholarship money. You should take part in as many Recruiting Classes as you can. In addition to these group classes, some memberships also include personalized one-on-one Coaching Sessions.

To get educated! It’s common to feel overwhelmed and in need of extra help. The more familiar you are with the recruiting process, the more success you will have. If you cannot participate in a live Recruiting Class, listen to a recorded version in the library of calls or read more about the topic in the Research and Education section of your RMS.

We recommend you participate in a Recruiting Class once a month, or as directed in your To-Do List. If you want to discuss your unique situation, simply request a one-on-one Coaching Session with a Recruiting Coach.

VIDEO

TIP : You may check the “Your Account” section of your RMS anytime to see how many Videos Videos,, College Coach Matches and Coaching Sessions you have remaining and how many you have used.

Once you’ve submitted proper footage, NCSA will create a highlight Video for you. You can access your sport-specific Video directions in your RMS under the section "Video Instructions." Make sure to follow these Video Instructions and create a video log (shown below) before sending in your footage.

Video is one of the most important tools a prospective studentathlete can use to introduce himself or herself to a college coach. In many cases Video determines whether a coach will pursue an athlete further. In most sports, a Video is so important that NCSA cannot match a recruit with a coach until it is made available.

Video should be submitted when footage is available from varsity or equivalent-level club competition. Most athletes will create their first Video as a junior, although this is not always the case. If you are competing at a high level as an underclassman, it may benefit you to create a Video earlier. Freshman, sophomore or JV footage, however, is generally not recommended. If you become an NCSA Verified Member as a senior, you should submit footage immediately.

TIP : Always make sure your preferences are stored and up to date.

COLLEGE SEARCH MAP

COLLEGE SEARCH MAP

This user-friendly search tool helps you find schools that are a good match for you! You can search for schools based on your sport, desired states, division levels, enrollment, tuition, etc. The College Search Map will give you a list of all schools matching your criteria. You will have access to a detailed report for each college including the school’s website, academic information, coach’s notes and coach contact information. If you are qualified for the school athletically and academically, you may also email the coach using this tool.

The College Search Map alleviates stress by helping you narrow down the thousands of potential college options. This tool will assist you in identifying and targeting the programs that are right for you.

The most successful recruits research schools as often as once a week. The College Search Map is constantly updated with new information, so be sure to check back often.

COLLEGE COACH MATCHING Once the critical information is added to your Recruiting Profile, NCSA will evaluate your academic and athletic abilities to Match you with the college programs for which you qualify. We will factor in your preferences and the requirements provided to NCSA by college coaches. Once you have been Matched with coaches, we will send you a list of every school that has received your Recruiting Profile. Be sure you follow-up with these coaches after receiving this list, and always respond when they contact you!

To receive exposure to programs that might be a good fit for you. College Coach Matches will introduce you to college coaches and help cultivate relationships.

Depending on your NCSA membership, you may be Matched between one (1) and four (4) times a year. NCSA will automatically Match you with colleges after you complete all of the critical information on your Recruiting Profile. Following the first College Coach Match, you must use the “Request a College Coach Match” button in your RMS. You may also proactively distribute information to coaches at any time by using the “email” feature in your College Search Map or Recruiting Board.

COACH VIEWS

COACH VIEWS NCSA's Coach Views tracks any hits/views to your Recruiting Profile and makes them available in this section of your RMS. You will be able to view the coach’s name, school and contact information. A college coach may view you through a search of our Recruiting Network, an email sent through the College Search Map or Recruiting Board, or from a College Coach Match.

Coach Views will allow you to follow-up and contact coaches in an efficient manner. By knowing which coaches and programs have viewed your information, you will be able to focus on programs more likely to have an interest in you. You will also have a leg-up on your competition because you are proactively reaching out to coaches.

Your Coach Views will be tracked immediately upon becoming an NCSA Verified Member.

RECRUITING BOARD

TIP : You will receive periodic notifications in your Recruiting Board with guidance on how to follow-up with your coach contacts.

This is your recruiting journal used to manage all correspondence (emails, letters, phone calls, etc.) you have with college coaches. In addition, you will be able to rank your top college choices.

The Recruiting Board will allow you to stay organized and keep track of all recruiting communications. This tool will help you make decisions about where each school should be ranked on your list, based on its level of communication with you. If a school’s interest in you increases or decreases, you can adjust its position on your board accordingly, making it easier to identify the schools with which you should have further communication.

Add your contacts every time you communicate with a college coach.

COACH REQUESTS

COACH REQUESTS These are posts by college coaches on the NCSA site to publicize a particular recruiting need. Think of this section as a "help wanted" ad for college coaches. For example, a coach might post "I am looking for a 2012 grad with a 3.5 or greater," or “I have finished recruiting for the 2011 class. Any sport specific-requests will be posted for your review.

This tool will allow you to approach schools that have a need for an athlete with your qualifications. Use the list to either add potential good matches or remove schools from your list.

The Coach Request tool is active immediately upon being accepted as an NCSA Verified Member. You should begin looking for requests that apply to you once your Recruiting Profile has been finalized.
