Desde la cima de la cuesta de As Trompas, de la catedral sólo se ven sobresalir las torres, que asoman por encima de los tejados del casco histórico. Un poco más allá, en la zona recientemente remozada del parque, hay un belvedere desde el que se tiene una perspectiva más moderna de la ciudad, incluida toda su expansión hacia el sureste. Es una visión más cinematográfica, sobre todo por las noches, cuando las luces de las viviendas del Ensanche sugieren historias de gente. Also in Belvís is the A Trisca Socio-Cultural Centre, first-rate contemporary architecture by the famous New York architect who died recently, John Hejduk. You can ask for the keys to its terrace roof in reception and go up free of charge. From the top there is a fine view of the old town and, towards the west, the new town, as well as Monte Gaiás and the first signs of the City of Culture towards the east. The view is also interesting due to an image from the past: from there we can clearly see the entire back of the convent inhabited by cloistered Dominican nuns, who can be seen working in their vegetable garden. From Monte da Almáciga, the highest of the truly urban hills, the city almost disappears at our feet, enabling our direct visual contact with a rolling horizon that fades into the sunset. In the city's southern area is Eugenio Granell Park, whose highest part is called Alto do Xeixo. From there, the Cathedral barely rises up like a dart and the new town from the second half of the 20th century can be seen in all of its constructive power, as if it were a great concrete wall protecting the monumental district's treasures.
