Counselor In Training (CIT)

Counselor In Training (CIT) is a work-oriented, leadership program which gives teens an opportunity to assist College For Kids instructors during the CFK summer camp. CITs must be available to attend mandatory training from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. on June 7. CITs receive leadership training and earn 80 service hours. Eligibility requirements: Potential CITs will be between the ages of 15-18 and/or rising 10th-12th grade students. Tuition: $90 per two week camp session | Applications are due by May 11. Arts and Crafts Fossils Into Gems

This course will introduce cabbers to the wide variety of materials, such as petrified wood, fossil shells, corals, bones, and even dino poop! Everyone loves wall signs that make a personal statement. Students will personalize a weathered or prepared board with paint, overlays, and custom stenciling. Repoussé Metalcrafts

Repoussé is a metalworking technique in which a malleable metal is ornamented or shaped by hammering from the reverse side to create a design in low relief. This course will introduce students to the basic skills and tools necessary for repoussé crafting. Students will complete a small ornamental picture at the end of course.

The flute is another instrument used in sound therapy, for meditation, for relaxation, and simple enjoyment. This workshop will explore using yeast and how to make bread from scratch. Learn to make a fresh baguette and Foccacia Bread that will be baked in class as well as form a Sour Dough Bread to rise for baking the following day. All Ingredients provided. Bennetts Creek & Port Inglis Island *

On this trip we’ll be paddling on open coastal waters among saw grass marshes and scattered small islands of Bennetts Creek and near the town of Inglis, where the Withlacoochee River enters the Gulf of Mexico. We’ll be stopping at a couple of small, higher islands where we’ll stretch, snack and check out some of the island flora.

You may drop a class and receive a full refund by calling the Community Education office DURING THE FIRST TWO WEEKS OF THE COMMUNITY EDUCATION TERM for any class 2 weeks or longer in length. For shorter classes, you must drop the class at least 2 business days before the class begins to receive a refund. After that, you must fill out a petition for refund. See website for refund policies. You will receive a refund check in the mail in approximately 3—4 weeks. Your credit card account will NOT be credited for the amount.
