“We specialize in presenting objects that delight and amuse,” says Jamie Creel, co-owner with Christopher Gow, of Creel and Gow, an Upper East Side boutique brimming with curiosities from or inspired by nature. Located in

Creel and Gow travel the world to search for unique pieces for their distinctive shop. A recent find was Ardmore Ceramics in South Africa, whose Elephant jug is seen here.

the former stables of a historic townhouse, the boutique carries pieces that “embellish one’s life with originality,” Gow explains, “achieving our mission to fulfill the needs, wants and desires of our customers with inspiring finds.” Whether it’s fossils, minerals, global textiles or taxidermy animals, each piece is displayed on custom shelving, arranged to illustrate their unusual balance of color, texture and form as a collection. Sourced from the duo’s infinite travels, the cache is extensive and far-reaching—the library alone houses an endless array of small-scale novelties like glass hammers, stone boxes and sterling-silver shells—the feel both approachable and unique. “The world is really our shop,” says Creel, who mainly resides in Paris. Gow agrees. “Traveling to remote parts of the world to find new and interesting objects, this is our favorite part of the business.” creelandgow.com; 212.327.4281
