WELCOME We reflect on 2013 for the San Diego Green Building Council as a year of growth for our community, as we advanced our mission and expanded our outreach. In this report, we will highlight some of our proudest accomplishments:

Green Homes Tours and Outreach
Zero Energy Zero Water Conference
• Hosted first annual Zero Water Zero Energy Green Building Conference • Expanded the Annual Green Homes tour to include more than 200 attendees • Initiated two Green Assistance Program Projects at Balboa Park • Advocated for sustainability by participating in the City of San Diego Climate Action Plan and regional stormwater planning process These accomplishments are the reflection of eleven-years of community dedication and collaboration surrounding green building in San Diego. The Green Homes tour attracted 225 attendees in 2013, making it our biggest year yet. Held in November, the Green Homes tour showcases real life projects and sustainability solutions from a variety of budgets and styles. This year, visitors were able to experience solar installations, native landscape, passive heating and cooling, and water reclamation systems in the eight featured homes.

As a member of the USGBC Pacific Regional Council, SDGBC Board members traveled to Sacramento to participate in Advocacy Day, an effort focused on promoting the benefits of green building and supporting sustainable development policies in California.

The San Diego Green Building Council hosted local and national leaders in innovative technology and thinking at the Zero Energy Zero Water Green Building Conference. This event focused on commercial and residential green building solutions through case studies and presentations, with an emphasis on regenerative design, Living Building Challenge projects and net zero building strategies.

GREENMEETS STUDY GROUPS LUNCH+LEEDS WORKSHOPS
Collaboration for Sustainability Solutions in Balboa Park SDGBC is part of a multi-organizational effort with The City of San Diego, Balboa Park Cultural Partnership, and San Diego Gas & Electric to provide education and outreach on green buildings and operations in Balboa Park. SDGBC has supported this work by bringing the Green Assistance Program (GAP) to Balboa Park. GAP aids local non-profits that desire to green their buildings and operations by rallying a team of volunteers to prepare a LEED for Existing Building feasibility assessment for a non-profit building. This program also provides SDGBC members with valuable LEED project experience and the opportunity to learn from and network with other green building professionals, strengthening and expanding the local green building community. “We are excited to be a partner in this effort of greening the operations of the institutions in Balboa Park. Every dollar saved in these buildings means another dollar to support the cultural programs that are so important to our community.�

The partnership between Balfour Beatty Construction and the San Diego Green Building Council, working together on Green Apple Day of Service at Oceanside High School, has been a win-winwin for all of us. The opportunity to work together and obtain our mutual goals of building better environments, eliminating waste, and being advocates for our clients is a great accomplishment.
