Distance & Intimacy
My aim has always been to evoke emotion in the viewer. This has been most evident in my portrait photography. As a photographer I am motivated to produce images that leave the viewer feeling moved and deeply affected by the work I have produced.
Consolidated Project I am motivated to produce images that will leave the viewer asking questions about and thinking deeply about what made the photographer take the image. I like to incorporate or capture these feelings of emotion in my work and get the viewer to feel moved by the content of the photograph and as a result be drawn in by it and be stimulated to ask questions about what has happened in a person’s lifetime or question what has happened in the lifetime of a building. My most recent collection of images is a reflection on or a record of a very personal incident that was life changing for me and I hope that my photographs capture the idea of a frozen moment in time whilst at the same time capturing some of the emotion that the event still holds for me.

Education and Qualifications:
Degree 2014: 2011-2014: Studying at Sheffield Hallam University for a BA Honours in Photography. GCE A’ levels 2010:3 A levels achieved with Art & Design at Grade A GCSEs 2008:9 GCSEs including Grade ‘A’ achieved in GCSE Art & Design.
Work experience:
2014 Freelance photographer specialising in portraiture & urban documentary style photography 2012 Photographic exhibition ‘Distance and Intimacy’ at the ‘Creative Arts Development Space’ (CADS). Responsibility for preparing the exhibition. 2012: Portrait commission for a local musician and commissions for local bands for publicity purposes. 2011(ongoing): Project worker with the ‘Burton Street Foundation’ working with children and adults with learning and physical disabilities requiring respite care. Performance Management has shown me to be ‘enthusiastic, caring, responsible and considered to be a ‘valued member of staff’. Training completed in ‘team teach’, moving and handling, first aid and epilepsy care. January 2010-October 2011: Employed by ‘Museums Sheffield’ as a visitor assistant with responsibility for and assisting with providing information on works of art, photography and collections to the public, working on reception, in the shop and at events evenings publicizing exhibitions, helping with displays & exhibitions and supporting educational trips & visits.
Specialist photographic skills:
Knowledge and understanding of analogue and digital photography and printing. Confident in the use of studio lighting in the studio and on location. Knowledge and use of Nikon and Canon digital and analogue cameras. Adept knowledge of adobe creative suite and Photoshop.
