Peanuts for Christmas

On December 8, the Cape Fear Community College Drama Club presents A Charlie Brown Christmas at 3 and 5 p.m. The play, based on the original 1965 Christmas cartoon, will be performed by live actors, and feature musicians performing the original Vince Guaraldi jazz score. Tickets ($5; $4/students; $1/children) will be sold at the door thirty minutes prior to show time. Attendees can receive one dollar off admission with the donation of a nonperishable item for Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard food bank. A Classic Choice

The Wilmington Symphony Orchestra and UNCW Opera Outreach Program present a fully staged performance of Gian Carlo Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors on Saturday, December 7, 8 p.m., and Sunday, December 8, 4 p.m. First performed on December 24, 1951, at New York City’s Rockefeller Center by the NBC Opera Theatre, Menotti’s one-act opera was broadcast live on television as the debut production of the Hallmark Hall of Fame.
