//INTRODUCTION

//PROJECT BRIEF WE LIVE IN A WORLD OF INFORMATION. More and more we depend on the visual translation of data into information as an important part of our everyday life. The term “data in itself does not constitute communication, but is more accurately defined as raw statistics.

As designers we encounter scenarios in which we must convey information in an organized and visual way in order to present messages, ideas, and information. It is because of this that I was asked to create a series of infographics that would display information in a clear, concise, and informative way.

I collected data from my peers and used these raw statistics as the content for my information graphics. From these infographics stemmed three poster categories I was to design for: typographic, image based, and non-computer. The outcome was one poster from each category, but as my project grew it became a series of five posters and my image based posters turned into a set of three.

//COLLECTING DATA I FIRST BEGAN BY COLLECTING DATA FROM OUR CLASSMATES. Initially, I was to develop three different topics to collect data for and from there narrow the topic down to one. I chose transportation, travel, and caffeine.

But, as I began brainstorming further, I decided to change gears completely and chose to focus my information graphics on vegetarianism. The decision to switch topics came about from my own personal life, being a vegetarian for almost five years, and the need for a unique topic.

//REFLECTION FOR THE FINAL POSTER DESIGNS I TRIED TO PUSH MYSELF A GREAT DEAL. As I worked on my information graphics I began to notice that some of my work was transforming into more of a series. Because of this, I have included a set of three image-based infographics that I feel supplement each other when placed together.

Over the course of this project I have developed a greater understanding of how to convey information in a simple, clean and concise way. The organization and structure of an information graphic transforms raw facts and figures into understandable information.
